It is well known that combining spatial and spectral information can improve land use classification from satellite imagery. High spatial resolution classification has a limitation when only using the spectral information due to the complex spatial arrangement of features and spectral heterogeneity within each class. Therefore, extracting the spatial information is one of the most important steps in high resolution satellite image classification. In this paper, we propose a new spatial feature extraction method. The extracted features are integrated with spectral bands to improve overall classification accuracy. The classification is achieved by applying a Support Vector Machines classifier. In order to evaluate the proposed feature extraction method, we applied our approach to KOMPSAT-2 data and compared the result with the other methods.

Text classification has been studied for a long time in the Natural Language Processing field. In this paper, we propose an article- and paragraph-level genre classification system using Word2Vec-based LSTM, GRU, and CNN models for large-scale English corpora. Both article- and paragraph-level classification performed best in accuracy with LSTM, which was followed by GRU and CNN in accuracy performance. Thus, it is to be confirmed that in evaluating the classification performance of LSTM, GRU, and CNN, the word sequential information for articles is better than the word feature extraction for paragraphs when the pre-trained Word2Vec-based word embeddings are used in both deep learning-based article- and paragraph-level classification tasks.
Strong backscattering features from high-resolution Synthetic Aperture Rader (SAR) image provide useful information to analyze earth surface characteristics such as man-made objects in urban areas. The SAR image has, however, some limitations on description of detail information in urban areas compared to optical images. In this paper, we propose a new classification method using a fused SAR and Electro-Optical (EO) image, which provides more informative classification result than that of a single-sensor SAR image classification. The experimental results showed that the proposed method achieved successful results in combination of the SAR image classification and EO image characteristics.
Dynamic and explicit ordering of strategies is a key process in modeling knowledge-level problem-solving behavior. This paper addressed the important problem of howl to make the scheduler more knowledge-intensive in a way that facilitates the acquisition, integration, and maintenance of the scheduler control knowledge. The solution a, pp.oach described in this paper involved formulating the scheduler task as a heuristic classification problem, and then implementing it as a classification expert system. By doing this, the wide spectrum of known methods of acquiring, refining, and maintaining the knowledge of a classification expert system are a, pp.icable to the scheduler control knowledge. One important innovation of this research is that of recursive heuristic classification : this paper demonstrates that it is possible to formulate and solve a key subcomponent of heuristic classification as heuristic classification problem. Another key innovation is the creation of a method of dynamic heuristic classification : the classification alternatives that are selected among are dynamically generated in real-time and then evidence is gathered for and aginst these alternatives. In contrast, the normal model of heuristic classification is that of structured selection between a set of preenumerated fixed alternatives.

The purpose of this study is to provide a plan of classification scheme to efficiently manage the collected cultural resource in Asian Culture Information Agency (ACIA) of Asian Culture Complex. The characteristic and category of the cultural resources are identified after studying objectives and acquisition policies of ACIA. This paper in here compares classification schemes such as HRAF scheme, UNESCO cultural framework, Folklore Archive scheme, and classification scheme of Academy of Korean Studies. On the basis of it, this study proposes the principle and criterion of the new classification scheme in ACIA. The new classification scheme is classified as the cultural, social, and natural area in sequence. The number of main classes is set up 16 items.

Recently, network traffic has become more complex and diverse due to the emergence of new applications and services. Therefore, the importance of application-level traffic classification is increasing rapidly, and it has become a very popular research area. Although a lot of methods for traffic classification have been introduced in literature, they have some limitations to achieve an acceptable level of performance in real-time application-level traffic classification. In this paper, we propose a novel application-level traffic classification method using payload size sequence (PSS) signature. The proposed method generates unique PSS signatures for each application using packet order, direction and payload size of the first N packets in a flow, and uses them to classify application traffic. The evaluation shows that this method can classify application traffic easily and quickly with high accuracy rates, over 99.97%. Furthermore, the method can also classify application traffic that uses the same application protocol or is encrypted.

The objective of this study is to identify performance factors in the automatic classification of records by utilizing metadata that contains the contextual information of records. For this study, we collected 97,064 records of original textual information from Korean central administrative agencies in 2022. Various classification algorithms, data selection methods, and feature extraction techniques are applied and compared with the intent to discern the optimal performance-inducing technique. The study results demonstrated that among classification algorithms, Random Forest displayed higher performance, and among feature extraction techniques, the TF method proved to be the most effective. The minimum data quantity of unit tasks had a minimal influence on performance, and the addition of features positively affected performance, while their removal had a discernible negative impact.

Enhanced network speed and the appearance of various applications have recently resulted in the rapid increase of Internet users and the explosive growth of network traffic. Under this circumstance, Internet users are eager to receive reliable and Quality of Service (QoS)-guaranteed services. To provide reliable network services, network managers need to perform control measures involving dropping or blocking each traffic type. To manage a traffic type, it is necessary to rapidly measure and correctly analyze Internet traffic as well as classify network traffic according to applications. Such traffic classification result provides basic information for ensuring service-specific QoS. Several traffic classification methodologies have been introduced; however, there has been no favorable method in achieving optimal performance in terms of accuracy, completeness, and applicability in a real network environment. In this paper, we propose a method to classify Internet traffic as the first step to provide stable network services. We integrate the existing methodologies to compensate their weaknesses and to improve the overall accuracy and completeness of the classification. We prioritize the existing methodologies, which complement each other, in our integrated classification system.
Vegetation classes, especially grass and tree classes, are often confused in classification when conventional spectral pattern recognition techniques are used to classify urban areas. This paper reports on a study to improve the classification results by using an automated process of considering height information in separating urban vegetation classes, specifically tree and grass, using three-band, high-spatial resolution, digital aerial imagery. Height information was derived photogrammetrically from stereo pair imagery using cross correlation image matching to estimate differential parallax for vegetation pixels. A threshold value of differential parallax was used to assess whether the original class was correct. The average increase in overall accuracy for three test stereo pairs was $7.8\%$, and detailed examination showed that pixels reclassified as grass improved the overall accuracy more than pixels reclassified as tree. Visual examination and statistical accuracy assessment of four test areas showed improvement in vegetation classification with the increase in accuracy ranging from $3.7\%\;to\;18.1\%$. Vegetation classification can, in fact, be improved by adding height information to the classification procedure.

Scene classification of very high-resolution (VHR) imagery can attribute semantics to land cover in a variety of domains. Real-world application requirements have not been addressed by conventional techniques for remote sensing image classification. Recent research has demonstrated that deep convolutional neural networks (CNNs) are effective at extracting features due to their strong feature extraction capabilities. In order to improve classification performance, these approaches rely primarily on semantic information. Since the abstract and global semantic information makes it difficult for the network to correctly classify scene images with similar structures and high interclass similarity, it achieves a low classification accuracy. We propose a VHR remote sensing image classification model that uses extracts the global feature from the original VHR image using an EfficientNet-V2L CNN pre-trained to detect similar classes. The image is then classified using a multilayer perceptron (MLP). This method was evaluated using two benchmark remote sensing datasets: the 21-class UC Merced, and the 38-class PatternNet. As compared to other state-of-the-art models, the proposed model significantly improves performance.
