소닉노즐의 유출계수에 영향을 미치는 인자에 관한 연구 (Factors influencing on the discharge coefficients of sonic nozzle)

  • Accuracy of gas flow measurements using sonic nozzle and factors which influence on the discharge coefficients of sonic nozzle are investigated with high pressure gas flow standard measurement system. The gas flow measurement system comprises two compressors, storage tank, temperature control loop, sonic nozzle test section, weighing tank, gyroscopic scale and data acquisition system. The experiments are performed at various nozzle throat diameter and inlet pressure. Overall uncertainty of discharge coefficients is estimated to less than .+-.0.2% and most of experimental data fall into this range. Dependence of discharge coefficients on the Reynolds number is good agreement with those suggested in ISO document. The influence of swirl on the discharge coefficients becomes greater as the nozzle throat diameter is enlarged. The discharge coefficient of conical nozzle shows about 4.5% lower discharge coefficients than those of toroidal nozzle, but variation trend with Reynolds number is very similar each other and reproducibility of data is very good.

영향계수(影響係數)를 이용한 QUAL2E 모형의 반응계수(反應係數) 추정(推定) (Calibration of QUAL2E Reaction Coefficients by the Influence Coefficient Algorithm)

  • 영향계수(影響係數)를 이용한 QUAL2E 반응계수(反應係數)의 최적추정 방법을 수립하여 충주댐부터 남한강수계 하류단까지의 하천구간에 적용하였다. 댐유입량 및 방류량 자료를 이용한 물수지 분석으로부터 1990년 월별 지천유입량을 산정하여 월별 수질 측정자료와 함께 반응계수(反應係數)의 추정에 사용하였다. 모의 수질항목으로서 chl.a, 질소 및 인순환 요소들, BOD 및 DO 등을 포함하였다. 수질변화에 영향이 큰 반응계수(反應係數)들을 선정하기 위하여 민감도(敏感度) 분석을 실시하였으며, 그 결과로서 11개의 추정 반응계수(反應係數)를 선정하였다. QUAL2E 반응계수(反應係數)의 추정에 사용된 영향계수법(影響係數法)에 의한 최적 추정방법은 계수들이 최적치에 빨리 수렴하도록 하는 유용한 방법임이 입증되었다. 모든 추정계수들이 3번 이내의 반복추정으로 최적치에 수렴하였다.

Experimental and numerical studies of aerodynamic forces on vehicles and bridges

  • An accurate identification of the aerodynamic characteristics of vehicles and the bridge is the premise for the coupled vibration analysis of a wind-vehicle-bridge system. At present, the interaction of aerodynamic forces between the road vehicles and bridge is ignored in most previous studies. In the present study, an experimental setup was developed to measure the aerodynamic characteristics of vehicles and the bridge for different cases in a wind tunnel considering the aerodynamic interference. The influence of the wind turbulence, the wind speed, the vehicle interference, and the vehicle position on the aerodynamic coefficients of vehicles, and the influence of vehicles on the static coefficients of the bridge were investigated, based on the experimental results. The variations in the aerodynamic characteristics of vehicles and the bridge were studied and the measured results were validated according to the results of surface pressure measurements on the vehicle and the bridge. The measured results were further validated by comparing the measured results with values derived numerically. The measured results showed that the wind turbulence, the vehicle interference, and the vehicle position significantly affected the aerodynamic coefficients of vehicles. However, the influence of the wind speed on the aerodynamic coefficients of the studied vehicle is small. The static coefficients of the bridge were also significantly influenced by the presence of vehicles.

A Comparison of Optimization Algorithms: An Assessment of Hydrodynamic Coefficients

  • This study compares optimization algorithms for efficient estimations of ship's hydrodynamic coefficients. Two constrained algorithms, the interior point and the sequential quadratic programming, are compared for the estimation. Mathematical optimization is designed to get optimal hydrodynamic coefficients for modelling a ship, and benchmark data are collected from sea trials of a training ship. A calibration for environmental influence and a sensitivity analysis for efficiency are carried out prior to implementing the optimization. The optimization is composed of three steps considering correlation between coefficients and manoeuvre characteristics. Manoeuvre characteristics of simulation results for both sets of optimized coefficients are close to each other, and they are also fit to the benchmark data. However, this similarity interferes with the comparison, and it is supposed that optimization conditions, such as designed variables and constraints, are not sufficient to compare them strictly. An enhanced optimization with additional sea trial measurement data should be carried out in future studies.

  • The reflection coefficients and the run-up heights affected by submerged structures are studied by using the numerical and the laboratory experimental methods. The three-point method is chosen to calculate the reflection coefficients in both the experimental and the numerical methods. The results of numerical simulations are shown a good agreement with laboratory measurements. The reflection coefficients increase and the run-up heights decrease when the rubble mound breakwater is defended by low-crested structures.

  • CFC-12, which has been used most widely in automobile air conditioners and household refrigerators is scheduled to be phased out soon because of its high ozone depletion potential. Now HFC-134a is suggested as an alternative refrigerant for CFC-12. In this Study, we intended to investigate how PAG oil influence evaporation heat transfer and flow pattern, using R-134a and PAG oil influences evaporation heat transfer and flow pattern, using R-134a and PAG oil in the horizontal miro-fin evaporation tube. Experiments were conducted under the flowing est conditions : mass velocity 86-250kg/$m^2$s, heat flux 5-30 ㎾/$m^2$, oil concentration 0-21 wt.% and saturation temperature 5$^{\circ}C$. Local evaporation heat transfer coefficients were found to be higher at the top, side and bottom of the tube in this order. Average heat transfer coefficients turned out to increase with oil concentration increment up to 3 wt.% oil concentration, whereas heat transfer coefficients gradually decreased over 3 wt.% oil concentration, because of oil-rich liquid film was formed on the heat transfer surface. Flow patterns were rapidly transitioned to annular regimes up to 3 wt.% oil concentration. In case of pure refrigerant, measured heat transfer coefficients in the experiments were similar to those of Kandlikar's correlation.

Influence of the empirical coefficients of cavitation model on predicting cavitating flow in the centrifugal pump

  • The phenomenon of cavitation is an unsteady flow, which is nearly inevitable in pump. It would degrade the pump performance, produce vibration and noise and even damage the pump. Hence, to improve accuracy of the numerical prediction of the pump cavitation performance is much desirable. In the present work, a homogenous model, the Zwart-Gerber-Belamri cavitation model, is considered to investigate the influence of the empirical coefficients on predicting the pump cavitation performance, concerning a centrifugal pump. Three coefficients are analyzed, namely the nucleation site radius, evaporation and condensation coefficients. Also, the experiments are carried out to validate the numerical simulations. The results indicate that, to get a precise prediction, the approaches of declining the initial bubble radius, the condensation coefficient or increasing the evaporation coefficient are all feasible, especially for declining the condensation coefficient, which is the most effective way.

Influence of Radioactive Contamination to Agricultural Products Due to Rain During a Nuclear Accident

  • The previous dynamic food chain model was improved for the consideration of the influence of radioactive contamination to agricultural products due to rain during the environmental releases of radionuclides in a nuclear accident Wet interception coefficients for the agricultural plants were derived as a function of radionuclide and rainfall amount, and mathematical formulations of the previous model were modified. As a result, rain during accidental releases was influential in agricultural contamination. The contamination level of agricultural products decreased dramatically according to increasing rainfall amount. It means that predictive concentrations in agricultural products using the previous model, in which dry interception to the agricultural plants is only considered, can be overestimated. The influence of rainfall in agricultural contamination was the most sensitive for $^{131}$ I, and the least sensitive for $^{90}$ Sr among the radionuclides considered in this study.

  • In the preceding research, the active balancing device, which is an electro-magnetic type, has been developed and active balancing method using influence coefficient method is also proposed. The stability of active balancing control is studied in this paper. A stable condition for active balancing control is derived by estimating errors of influence coefficients. A gain scheduling control using influence coefficients of the reference model is proposed when dynamic characteristic of rotor system is changed. The stability of the balancing method is verified by experiments.
