COG (Chip On Glass) Bonding Technology for Flat Panel Display Using Induction Heating Body in AC Magnetic Field (교류자기장에 의한 유도가열체를 이용한 평판 디스플레이용 COG (Chip On Glass) 접속기술)

  • Chip-on-glass technology to attach IC chip directly on the glass substrate of flat panel display was studied by using induction heating body in AC magnetic field. With applying magnetic field of 230 Oe at 14 kHz, the temperature of an induction heating body made with Cu electrodeposited film of 5 mm${\times}$5 mm size and $600{\mu}m$ thickness reached to $250^{\circ}C$ within 60 seconds. However, the temperature of the glass substrate was maintained below $100^{\circ}C$ at a distance larger than 2 mm from the Cu induction heating body. COG bonding was successfully accomplished with reflow of Sn-3.5Ag solder bumps by applying magnetic field of 230 Oe at 14 kHz for 120 seconds to a Cu induction heating body of 5mm${\times}$5mm size and $600{\mu}m$ thickness.

  • This paper is described the indirect induction heated boiler system and induction heated hot air producer using the voltage-fed series resonant high-frequency inverter which can operate in the frequency range from 20〔KHz〕 to 50〔KHz〕. A specially designed Induction heater, which is composed of laminated stainless assembly with many tiny holes and interconnected spot welding points between stainless plates, is inserted into the ceramic type vessel with external working coil. This working coil is connected to the resonant inverter. In the induction heater, it's primary heating section creates low-pressure saturated steam and secondary heating section generates heat distribution evaporating fluid from the turbulence fluid which is flowing through the vessel. The operating performances of this unique appliance in next generation and its effectiveness are evaluated and discussed from the practical point of view.

A Study on Toluene Oxidation Reaction Characteristics of Ni-Based Catalyst in Induction Heating System (유도가열 시스템을 이용한 Ni계 촉매의 톨루엔 산화 반응 특성 연구)

  • Research on induction heating catalyst system was conducted to solve problems of the existing catalyst system for removing volatile organic compounds. In the present study, three types of Ni-based commercial catalysts were employed, and induction heating reaction characteristics including the catalyst volume, composition, heat treatment atmosphere, and position in the coil were investigated. The composition and volume of the catalyst affected the exothermic and toluene oxidation performance in the induction heating system. In particular, the Fe-added catalyst showed high exothermic performance compared to that of other catalysts consisting of more than 99% Ni, but had low toluene oxidation performance. In addition, the heat treatment in an air atmosphere of the Ni-based catalyst drastically reduced the performance. In the induction heating system, the optimal condition for the catalyst was to be located in the center of the coil. The catalyst showed similar activities among seven repeated experiments under the optimal condition derived from this work.

  • This paper proposes a method for controlling energy distribution to 1 phase induction heating coil by using the Binary Rate Modulation (BRM) Technique. Such method provides proper frequency to the heating coil's requirement by control the frequency at the resonance point, that is, 64-kHZ frequency band. System design are classified to 2 parts. The first part determines main frequency , and the second part generates the frequency from the 8-bit BRM derived from IC no. PAL22V10 in order to control the frequency for Full-bridge connected inverter when supplying the energy required by the 1 phase induction heating coil. Therefore, efficiency of the energy supply can be increate.

  • This paper studies the mechanical behaviors of Sn-3.5Ag solder joint against substrate(such as Au/Ni/Cu, Au/cu, Ni/Cu and Cu pad) after induction heating, a new soldering method. It was found that the solder bump formation depends on the time and current of the induction heating system. Also the heating value of the solder bump were found to vary with respect to the thermal conductivity of the pads on the substrate. In case of Au/Ni/Cu pad and Au/Cu pad, solder bump's shear strength were high for the heating time of $1.5{\sim}2sec$. For Ni/Cu pad, solder bump's shear strength were found to increase with time increment.

  • A method of computer aided design (C.A.D.) is proposed to analize a load circuit of a high frequency induction heating. Various formulas are derived from the properity of the heating load, which is useful for the design of heating materials. A load circuit which is designed by the proposed C.A.D. is realized and tested. The experimental results show in good agreement with the theoritical analysies. Especially the result reveal that the power transfer efficiency increases as the Q and coupling coefficient of the work coil increase.

  • The Induction Heating equipment is widely used for steel plate heating in the surface treatment process of steel industries. In the case of thin steel plate, for high efficiency We need the high frequency induction heating equipment more than 100kHz. But it is difficult to realize the high frequency and high power at the same time. That's why most high frequency equipment more than 100kHz has been imported from advanced Manufacturer. This paper will describe the development of 100kHz/5MVA inverter module for 100kHz/20MVA induction heating. We used the LCL resonance topology and ZVS/ZCS switching technology. And we also developed the low loss gate drive board and plate busbar inverter stack. We proved the performance by various experiment.

  • Recently, induction heating cooker(IH-Cooker) is very interested for high efficiency, the quickness of heating time and the convenient regulation of heating spot. In this paper, we proposed the magneto-thermal analysis of an induction heating cooker(IH-Cooker) as an efficient design, and analyzed the magnetic fold intensity inside the axisymmetric shaped cooker using three-dimensional axisymmetric finite element method(Flux2D) and the effectual heat source was obtained by ohmic losses from eddy currents induced in the cooker. Also, we presented the temperature characteristics of the IH-Cooker according to input frequency and relative permeability in stainless parts and in aluminum parts.

  • This paper presents an analysis on the induction heating of ring flange for wind farm. Ring flange is used for the connection of poles when building a column of wind power plant. Heat treatment of ring flange with the diameter of ${\O}1,000mm$ has been considered. For analysis on the induction heating, FEA is used. Firstly, electromagnetic filed analysis was performed to get the induction current distribution on the steel, After that, heat transfer analysis was performed using the magnetic filed analysis results. for more precise analysis, some measurement for permeability has been performed and the measurement data was used during the analysis. From the analysis, we get the temperature distribution on the ring flange.

A Study of Bending Using Long Type Coil by Discrete Method (다분할 해석법에 의한 장형코일의 곡가공 연구)

  • The induction heating is more efficient for a plate bending because of its easy operation and control of working parameters, compared with the heating by a gas torch. The existing axis symmetric analysis method could neither handle initial curved plates nor be used in the optimization of coil shapes because of its limit of an axis symmetric coil shape. But the proposed method using some discrete part models and analysis processes could overcome these difficulties and show more accurate results in temperatures and deflections of flat or curved plates with initial curvature than those in the existing axis symmetric analysis method. This method is composed of the multi-disciplinary analyses such as an electro magnetic analysis, a heat transfer analysis and a deformation analysis based on inherent strain approach per each step. Traditionally, the coil shape in the induction heating is circular shape and it needs the moving process along heating lines. To overcome this, the 'Long Type Coil' with some linear parallel coils was proposed. It did not need the moving process along heating lines and reduced the heating process time. The results of experiments were compared with those of the simulation.
