In this paper, we propose indoor IoT monitoring system based on visible light communication using smart phone with attracting attentions in recent wireless communication. The main features and contributions of the proposed system developed in this paper are as follows. First, the actual data generated within indoor can be processed via the server by using only the visible light communication. Second, the collected data by using the visible light communication can be monitered by smart phone. Performance evaluation of the proposed system is performed under illumination of the normal fluorescent lamps. We first check successful transmission between transmitting module and receiving module of the data collection system. The monitoring system is tested according to the change of the degree of condensing and distance of the LED and the decoding success rate of the proposed smart phone application. We expect that the proposed system can be applied for indoor and outdoor IoT areas together.

Short-range wireless communication systems are expanding at rapid rate, finding application in offices and homes. Development of wireless local network is accompanied by steady increase in the demand for ever higher data rates. This in turn entails the necessity to develop communication systems which operate at higher frequencies. It can be expected that short-rage wireless communication networks will soon push towards the THz frequency range. We use a 3D ray-launching for analysis of propagation environments at the indoor fixtures. We extended the approach from the modeling of the reflectivity of optically thick, smooth building materials at THz frequencies to materials with a rough surface. The simulation result of propagation environment is similar to average received power of reference paper. The RMS delay spread was calculated to be 9.11 ns in a room size of $6m(L){\times}5m(W){\times}2.5m(H)$ for the concrete plaster.

Closed-loop transmit diversity is considered an important technique for improving the link budget in the third generation and future wireless communication standards. This paper proposes several transmit diversity algorithms suitable for small wireless terminals and presents performance assessment in terms of average signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and outage improvement, convergence, and complexity of operations. The algorithms presented herein are verified using data from measured indoor channels with variable antenna spacing and the results explained using measured radiation patterns for a two-element array. It is shown that for a two-element array, the best among the proposed techniques provides SNR improvement of about 3 dB in a tightly spaced array (inter-element spacing of 0.1 wavelength at 2 GHz) typical of small wireless devices. Additionally, these techniques are shown to perform significantly better than a single antenna device in an indoor channel considering realistic values of latency and propagation errors.

In this paper, we developed a simulator which can generate the polarization waves for the indoor wireless communications based on three dimensional ray tracing technique and verified the simulation results comparing with the measured data in indoor wireless propagation environments. Using the developed simulator, we analyzed the channel characteristic and polarization diversity reception characteristic for the vertical, horizontal and circularly polarized waves. From the analysis results, in the case of using circularly polarized wave it can be clearly seen that the multipath fading is markedly reduced compared to the vertical and horizontal polarized waves due to the reception characteristic of removing the odd time reflected waves.
Despite efforts to reduce unexpected accidents at confined construction sites, choking accidents continue to occur. Because of the poorly ventilated atmosphere, particularly in long, confined underground spaces, workers are subject to dangerous working conditions despite the use of artificial ventilation. Moreover, the traditional monitoring methods of using portable gas detectors place safety inspectors in direct contact with hazardous conditions. In this study, a long-range (LoRa)-based wireless safety monitoring system that features the network organization, fault-tolerant, power management, and a graphical user interface (GUI) was developed for underground construction sites. The LoRa wireless data communication system was adopted to detect hazardous gases and oxygen deficiency within a confined underground space with adjustable communication range and low power consumption. Fault tolerance based on the mapping information of the entire wireless sensor network was particularly implemented to ensure the reliable operation of the monitoring system. Moreover, a sleep mode was implemented for the efficient power management. The GUI was also developed to control the entire safety-monitoring system and to manage the measured data. The developed safety-monitoring system was validated in an indoor testing and at two full-scale water pipeline construction sites.
Recent advancement in wireless communications and electronics has enabled the development of low power sensor network. Wireless sensor network are often used in remote monitoring control applications, health care, security and environmental monitoring. Wireless sensor networks are an emerging technology consisting of small, low-power, and low-cost devices that integrate limited computation, sensing, and radio communication capabilities. Sensor network platform for health care has been designed, fabricated and tested. This system consists of an embedded micro-controller, Radio Frequency (RF) transceiver, power management, I/O expansion, and serial communication (RS-232). The hardware platform uses Atmel ATmega128L 8-bit ultra low power RISC processor with 128KB flash memory as the program memory and 4KB SRAM as the data memory. The radio transceiver (Chipcon CC1000) operates in the ISM band at 433MHz or 916MHz with a maximum data rate of 76.8kbps. Also, the indoor radio range is approximately 20-30m. When many sensors have to communicate with the controller, standard communication interfaces such as Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) or Integrated Circuit ($I^{2}C$) allow sharing a single communication bus. With its low power, the smallest and low cost design, the wireless sensor network system and wireless sensing electronics to collect health-related information of human vitality and main physiological parameters (ECG, Temperature, Perspiration, Blood Pressure and some more vitality parameters, etc.)

Wireless communication technology is becoming increasingly prevalent in smart factories, but the rise in the number of wireless devices can lead to interference in the ISM band and obstacles like metal blocks within the factory can weaken communication signals, creating radio shadow areas that impede information exchange. Consequently, accurately determining the radio communication coverage range is crucial. To address this issue, a Radio Environment Map (REM) can be used to provide information about the radio environment in a specific area. In this paper, a technique for estimating an indoor REM usinga mobile robot and machine learning methods is introduced. The mobile robot first collects and processes data, including the Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) and location estimation. This data is then used to implement the REM through machine learning regression algorithms such as Extra Tree Regressor, Random Forest Regressor, and Decision Tree Regressor. Furthermore, the numerical and visual performance of REM for each model can be assessed in terms of R2 and Root Mean Square Error (RMSE).

Recently, RFID/USN is one of fundamental technologies in information and communications networks. Low-Rate WPAN, IEEE802.15.4 is a low-cost communication network that allows wireless connectivity in applications with limited Power and relaxed throughput requirements. Its applications are building automation, personal healthcare, industrial control, consumer electronics, and so on. Some applications require location information. Of course location awareness is useful to improve usability of data Low-Rate WPAN Is regarded as a key specification of the sensor network with the characteristics of wireless communication, computing, energy scavenging, self-networking, and etc. Unfortunately ZigBee alliance propose a lot of applications based on location aware technologies, but the specification and low-rate WPAN devices don't support anything about location-based services. RSSI ( Received Signal Strength indication) is for energy detection to associate, channel selection, and etc. RSSI is used to find the location of a potable device in WLAN. In this paper we studied indoor location awareness using vector matching of RSSI in low-Rate wireless PAN. We analyzed the characteristics of RSSI according to distance and experimented location awareness. We implemented sensor nodes with different shapes and configured the sensor network for the location awareness with 4 fixed nodes and a mobile node. We try to contribute developing location awareness method using RSSI in 3-dimension space.
In indoor sensor networks equalization algorithms based on the minimization of Euclidean distance (MED) for the distributions of constant modulus error (CME) have yielded superior performance in compensating for signal distortions induced from optical fiber links, wireless-links and for impulsive noise problems. One main drawback of MED-CME algorithms is a heavy computational burden hindering its implementation. In this paper, a recursive gradient estimation for weight updates of the MED-CME algorithm is proposed for reducing the operations $O(N^2)$ of the conventional MED-CME to O(N) at each iteration time for N data-block size. From the simulation results of the proposed recursive method producing exactly the same results as the conventional method, the proposed estimation method can be considered to be a reliable candidate for implementation of efficient receivers in indoor sensor networks.
