  • This paper introduces a sensor system based on indoor locations in order to implement the Building Energy Management System. This system consists of a thermopile sensor and an ultrasonic sensor. The sensor module is rotated by $360^{\circ}$ and yawed up-and-down by two electric motors. Therefore, it can simultaneously detect the number and location of the inhabitants in the room. It uses wireless technology to communicate with the building manager or the smart-home server, and it can save electric energy by controlling the lighting system or heating/air conditioning equipment automatically. We also demonstrate the usefulness of the proposed system by applying it to a real environment.

  • In Korea, Apartment houses recently occupy over 80% of all buildings. Ground source system has to be designed to consider feature of apartment house. Most apartment houses use PHC pile to get a bearing power of the soil. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to evaluate performance of ground source heat pump system utilizing energy pile under apartment. Object of experiment is low-energy experiment apartment in Song-do and Energy Pile are applied to 80%, 100% energy reduction model for heat-source. First, performance evaluation of Energy Pile geothermal system was done during summer season. As a result, The COP(coefficient of performance) about geothermal heatpump was approximately 5-6 while cooling. In winter season, Long experiment was performed because it was very important to evaluate ground condition for long time. During heating experiment, Indoor room set temperature was $20^{\circ}C$ and kept constant by heating. Coefficient of performance for heat pump and overall system was calculated. It was 3.5-4.5 for COP and 2.5-3.7 for system COP.

  • Most energy using in building part is mainly consumed for heating and cooling to meet occupancy's comfort temperature. Generally, heating energy consumption show high value than cooling energy in Korea because of high temperature difference in winter season as compared with summer in apartment building. The efforts to develope mechanical performance have been studied to reduce energy consumption in building energy field until now. However, the energy consumption in building is impacted by not only system performance but also PMV particularly at temperature and Clo value. This means that energy consumption can be changed by occupancy's comfort setting temperature in apartment building. This study investigated the passibility of overheating in apartment building by occupant' slow Clo and its setting temperature from preceding research and then the heating energy consumption by setting temperature was calculated with ESP-r. The effects of heating energy and $CO_2$ reduction are also evaluated quantitatively with Clo value. The results showed that keeping ISO-7730 standards can reduce heating energy up to 21% in compared with option 2; also, wearing underclothes with ISO-7730 standard can considerably reduce heating energy consumption up to 50%. As compared with option 2, the reduction of $CO_2$ emission for option 3 showed 0.63TCO2 of kerosene, 0.49TCO2 of LNG and 1.09TCO2 of electricity. The option 4 can be reduced by 1.48TCO2 of kerosene, 1.16TCO2 of LNG and 2.57TCO2 of electricity respectively.

  • Electric Multiple Unit is one of the major mass public transportation systems and passengers are under the influence of indoor air quality such as air temperature, relative humidity and concentration of CO2 gas. Therefore ventilation system of Electric Multiple Unit should be designed for both healthy and comfortable environments. We survey the optimal ventilation rate and the permissible CO2 concentration in the saloon with the consideration of the cooling and heating capacity and fresh air induced from tunnel.

  • In a heat only boiler system of a steam power plant, outdoor air required for combustion is made to pass through indoor space for increasing the boiler efficiency. Due to heat generated by various equipments, temperature of the air that enters the boiler will increase resulting in combustion efficiency. If the outdoor air temperature is low, however, this will cause freezing and bursting of pipes which are filled with water. It is especially fatal to small diameter pipes and pipes connected to measuring instruments. The purpose of this study is find operation and outdoor conditions where this phenomena can happen and also establish preventive measures to avoid this problem.

  • One of the most common approaches to achieve better thermal comfort with the radiant floor heating system is supply water temperature control, which is that supply water temperature is varied with outdoor air temperature. But the application of this control method was not easy, because there has been no way to determine the supply water temperature. So in this study, a comprehensive, yet simple calculation method to find out the required supply water temperature is suggested by combining the building heat loss equation and the heat emission model of hydronic radiant floor heating system for single zone. And then using this calculation method, the multizone control method is suggested and confirmed through the thermal simulation. It is shown that indoor air temperature is stably maintained around the set point.

  • In order to set up the basic environmental control systems which the new concept greenhouses have to equip, greenhouse characteristics, environmental management and control systems in domestic glasshouses and plastic houses were investigated and analyzed comparatively. Survey results on the width, length, eaves height, and the number of spans etc. showed that glasshouses were bigger than plastic houses significantly. New concept greenhouses claim to be plastic houses, but it will be reasonable to follow the specifications of the glasshouse. Specifications to be applied to new concept greenhouses were proposed as follows; hot water heating systems, aluminum screens as the thermal curtain, evaporative cooling systems, roof vents on the ridge, circulation fans, $CO_2$ enrichment, hydroponic systems, and automatic irrigation control systems. Environmental measurement systems for the indoor and outdoor temperature, humidity, light, wind speed and indoor $CO_2$ concentration have to be fully equipped. The automatic control system has to be as a complex environmental control system, not a single item control system. Also, for stable dissemination, domestically producing complete greenhouse control system should be made as soon as possible.

Option 4 showing Maximum CO2 emission reduction indicates that kerosene. LNG and electricity can reduce 1.5t, 1.7t, 2.46t respectively in comparison with option 2.
