The basic premise of this study was that the elderly family would be one user type to live in apartment houses. This means that apartment houses should be designed by considering the elderly family as well as general young families. The purpose of this study was to carry out POE of apartment houses by the elderly resident and to suggest the design direction of apartment houses from the elderly's point of view. The subject was 150 elderly residents who lived in apartment houses in Jangyu new urban area, Kyungnam. The individual interview was done for this POE by six interviewers. They asked about how degree they were satisfied with 30 design elements of apartment houses. Those consisted of 8 elements related to outdoor environments, 16 ones to indoor environments, and 6 design evaluative elements for the elderly housing. The conclusions were as followings; 1) In general, the elderly subject was very satisfied with their apartment design. However, more considerations of the design evaluative elements for the elderly were needed in order to be apartment houses for the old generation. 2) Natural facilities such as small parks and walks, and local amenities should be arranged systematically to be used easily by the old residents. 3) The design solutions for reducing noise should be added. 4) The same quality of housing environment should be provided in all sizes of housing units.

We propose a Z-HBT line coding for a LED-ID system. Z-HBT line coding is defined as follows. First, we apply half bit transition to one bit. Second, we decode encoded bits using difference of bit transition level in one bit duration. As a result, we obtain advantages about synchronization problem and noise effect mitigation at the receiver. We set up outdoor the LED-ID simulation environment. At simulation results, we show 2-3dB gain as compared with existing line coding schemes. The results of the paper can be applied to design and implementation of LED-ID systems for indoor wireless multimedia services.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the view of housing of university students. The view of housing was investigated in four stages - housing consciousness, resident opinion, ideal housing type and housing needs - in this study. The data were collected through the self-entry questionnaire designed for this study. The statistical analysis methods used in this study are frequencies, mean, percentage, {\chi}^2-test, factor analysis and t-test using the SPSS for Window (version 7.5). The results are as follows : 1) The major findings of the housing consciousness were that the university students preferred the detached house in the future. 2) The resident opinion of university students showed that the group space was more important than the private space. 3) In the ideal housing image, they wanted psychological and physical comfort from their houses. 4) The points of consideration when they select their future housing is classified of 5 factors : Indoor-outdoor environment, neighbourhood environment, investmental value, design and size of house.
The objective of the current study was to assess the comparative risk associated with exposure to particulate matter (PM) while commuting via different public transport modes in Fukuoka, Japan. For the given routes and measuring days, a trip-maker carried a lightweight portable bag loaded the real-time measurement devices which take simultaneous measurement for size-fractioned particle number concentration, $PM_{2.5}$ mass concentration, and total suspended particle (TSP) collection. The results of the present study have shown significant differences between public transports as commuting modes in Fukuoka. The PM exposure levels on subway platform and inside subway train were overwhelmingly higher than those of other points on commuting route. The relative ratio between modes (i.e., the ratio of $PM_{2.5}$ inside subway to that inside bus) provides an idea for choosing a right commuting mode for our health. This study clearly provided evidence of the extremely high levels of iron exposure by subway uses compared to bus uses. The result of theoretically reconstructed mass concentration of $PM_{2.0-0.3}$ collected on subway platform suggests that the PM of underground subway will be associated with PM both generated in subway system and inleakaged from outdoor environment.

A traffic message delivery system using visible light communication(VLC) link has been demonstrated. The system is proposed to deliver simple traffic messages between cars at low speed. The message set is programmed in an FPGA-based digital board and one of the messages is sent to the other car. Considering the outdoor and indoor environments, the effects of sunlight and fluorescent lamps on received signal waveforms are described. The delivered message is successfully recovered over 2 meter. The link for message delivery can be concatenated.
The peak demand of electricity in summer season mainly comes from the day time cooling loads. Ice thermal Storage System (ITSS) uses off-peak electricity at night time to make ice for the day time cooling. In order to maximize the use of cold storage in ITSS, the estimation of day time cooling load for the building is necessary. In this study, we present a method of cooling load estimation using 5 years of normalized outdoor temperature, relative humidity, and the building construction data. We applied the hourly-based estimation to a general hospital building with relatively less sudden heat exchange and the results are compared with the measured cooling load of the building. The results show that the cooling loads estimation depends on the indoor cooling design temperature of the building.
A common approach to achieve better thermal comfort with hydronic radiant floor heating system is supply water temperature control. This is the control method through which supply water temperature is varied with outdoor temperature. In this study, a comprehensive, yet simple calculation method to find optimum supply water temperature is evaluated by combining heat loss from the building and heat emission from the hydronic radiant floor heating system. And then the control performance of suggested calculation method is confirmed through experiment. It is shown that indoor air temperature is stably maintained around the set point.

This work proposes suitable network configurations for single frequency networks (SFNs) with ATSC 1.0 based on network coverage calculations and the laboratory multipath handling performance of commercial receivers. SFNs are widely used for delivering terrestrial digital television services because of their efficient use of the spectrum. In Mexico the analogue television transmissions switch-off occurred on 31 December 2016. Thus it is expected the adopted ATSC 1.0 system will be in force for the next several years despite the recent standardization of the ATSC 3.0 system. As ATSC 1.0 uses 8-VSB modulation the multipath handling capability of receivers is critical for the design of SFNs. The presented network planning results help develop technical normativity for implementing SFNs in Mexico and other countries that use ATSC 1.0. SFNs with transmitter separation up to 130 km are fully covered for outdoor reception mainly due to the directivity of the receiving antenna. Moreover for indoor reception at least 70% of an SFN coverage area can be achieved with a transmitter separation of up to 60 km depending on the radiated power and the transmitter antenna height.

This study is a basic study for the planning of rural community center space, which introduced the concept of healthcare. As the rural community center is a place where the elderly in rural areas live mainly during the day, this place is very important place for the healthy life of the rural elderly. We conducted an interview survey for 207 users over 65. The survey was organized with three regions to consider the regional characteristics of the community center users and geographical characteristics. As a result of the analysis of planning elements, the main preferences for indoor and outdoor space elements are planning elements such as safety, air quality, light, and the thermal environment and safety handle, night lights, safety walkway. These preferences should be considered for the more healthy friendly rural community center.

Recent works have shown that the geometric constraint can be harnessed to boost the performance of CNN-based camera localization. However, the existing strategies are limited to imposing image-level constraint between pose pairs, which is weak and coarse-gained. In this paper, we introduce a pixel-level epipolar geometry constraint to vanilla localization framework without the ground-truth 3D information. Dubbed EpiLoc, our method establishes the geometric relationship between pixels in different images by utilizing the epipolar geometry thus forcing the network to regress more accurate poses. We also propose a variant called EpiSingle to cope with non-sequential training images, which can construct the epipolar geometry constraint based on a single image in a self-supervised manner. Extensive experiments on the public indoor 7Scenes and outdoor RobotCar datasets show that the proposed pixel-level constraint is valuable, and helps our EpiLoc achieve state-of-the-art results in the end-to-end camera localization task.
