BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: The objectives were to investigate the effect of a 12-wk intervention with behavioral modification on clinical characteristics and dietary intakes of young and otherwise healthy obese and to identify factors for successful weight loss. The goal was to lose 0.5 kg per week by reducing 300-500 kcal/day and by increasing physical activities. SUBJECTS AND METHODS: Forty four obese subjects (BMI > 25) and 19 normal weight subjects (BMI 18.5-23) finished the 12-week intervention. Obese subjects participated in 5 group educations and 6 individual counseling sessions. Normal weight subjects attended 6 individual counseling sessions for evaluations of dietary intake and exercise pattern. Anthropometric and clinical characteristics and 3-day dietary records were evaluated at baseline and week12. RESULTS: Weight and serum triglyceride and free fatty acid concentrations in obese group decreased significantly with intervention. Intakes of energy, fat, and cholesterol decreased significantly in the obese. Active participation, realistic weight loss goal setting, and weight gain after high school graduation not during childhood were identified as key factors for successful weight loss. CONCLUSIONS: The 12-week intervention with behavioral modification resulted in reduced energy and fat intakes and led to significant weight loss and improvements of clinical characteristics in the obese. The finding that those who became obese during childhood lost less weight indicates the importance of 'early' intervention.
The effects of food concentration (Chlorella vulgaris) and predator (Pseudorasbora parva) density on the distributional pattern of Daphnia pulex was evaluated in observation chambers. It was found that in the chamber with higher food concentration, Daphnia began to aggregate and formed tighter swarms. The close distance between each individual and distance from the center of swarm were observed in higher food conditions however, this distributional pattern was not seen in the chamber without food. Thus it suggests that the food is necessary for the swarming behavior of Boptnia in natural habitat. The swarming developed regardless of predator existence and the predator density did not affect swarming pattern of Daphnia.
From the philosophy of Laozi, we can infer the two types of the individuals, such as Youwei individual and Wuwei individual. The Youwei individual characterizes its expandibility, which appears as an aggressive character, and the society where this has set in is a false society. The Wuwei individual discards a false power and authority, concentrates on its realities and life, and further restricts its rights in a voluntary way. Their behavioral pattern like this allows the other party to secure an autonomous space and ensures that he or she can live a full life in person. The society these Wuwei individuals have formed through their own relationships is Xuantong Society. The Xuantong Society proposed by Laozi restricts individual rights, but it rather guarantees individual's autonomy, life and happiness, and suggests an individual-community model in which common good is created endlessly even though it does not establish the common good. This is very different from the points of view which guarantees individual rights and at the same time attempt to realize the common good together.

As the range of the customer choice becomes more diverse, the average life span of companies' products and services is becoming shorter. Most companies are striving to maximize the revenue by understanding the customer's needs and providing customized products and services. However, companies had to bear a significant burden, in terms of the time and cost involved in the process of determining each individual customer's needs. Therefore, an alternative method is employed that involves grouping the customers into different categories based on certain criteria and establishing a marketing strategy tailored for each group. In this way, customer segmentation and customer clustering are performed using demographic information and behavioral information. Demographic information included sex, age, income level, and etc., while behavioral information was usually identified indirectly through customers' purchase history and search history. However, there is a limitation regarding companies' customer behavioral information, because the information is usually obtained through the limited data provided by a customer on a company's website. This is because the pattern indicated when a customer accesses a particular site might not be representative of the general tendency of that customer. Therefore, in this study, rather than the pattern indicated through a particular site, a customer's interest is identified using that customer's access record pertaining to external news. Hence, by utilizing this method, we proposed a methodology to perform customer segmentation. In addition, by extracting the main issues through a topic analysis covering approximately 3,000 Internet news articles, the actual experiment applying customer segmentation is performed and the applicability of the proposed methodology is analyzed.
Approximately equivalent to character disorder or character neuroses or behavioral reaction. For a discussion of the term as used currently, in the 1968 revision of psychiatric nomenclature(DSM-II). In DSM-I(1952 nomenclature), this term referred to those cases in which the personality, in its struggle for adjustment to internal and external stresses, utilized primarily a pattern of action or behavior rather than symptoms in the mental, somatic or emotional spheres. There is minimal subjective anxiety and little or no sense of distress. As thus defined, there are three main groups of personality disorder, personality pattern disturbance, personality trait disturbance and sociopathic, personality disturbance. Morton Prince asks whether a subconscious process can perform the same function as are ordinarily performed by conscious intelligence that is to say memory, perception, reasoning, imagination, volition, affectivity, etc? He cites clinical material at great length, concluding that the quality of the functions performed they frequently exhibit, that which is characteristic of intelligence.
Coping patterns were investigated in a sample of 126 patients with chronic low back pain by means of self-reported questionnaire. Based on the previous researches, coping pat terns were divided into the active cognitive coping, the active behavioral coping, the passive cognitive coping, and the passive behavioral coping. While all the above coping patterns were used, the passive behavioral coping was found to be used most frequently. Six subgroups were identified by cluster analytic procedure using their scores of the coping scale : active cognitive coper, general active coper, passive behavioral coper, general passive coper, multidimensional coper, and multi dimensional non-coper. Six subgroups were compared regarding locus of control, self-efficacy, pain and demographic variables. Distinct differences appeared among subgroups in internal locus of control, self-efficacy, and pain. General active coper and active cognitive coper had higher internal locus of control, higher self-efficacy, and lower pain. General passive coper and multidimensional non-coper had lower internal locus of control, lower self-efficacy, and higher pain. Passive behavioral coper had higher internal locus of control, lower self-efficacy, and higher pain. It supports the concept of learned helplessness due to prior experiences. Multi dimensional coper had higher internal, higher powerful others, and higher self-efficacy. So it corresponds to 'believer in control' group Identified by Wallston et at(1982). Unexpectedly this group also complained more pain. It could be interpreted in two ways. The more coping methods they use, the more they complain pain ; which is the result of Folkman et al (1986). Or they might be typical 'yea sayers'. These unique groups-passive behavioral coper and multidimensional coper-identified by this study supports the suggestion of Wallston et al(1982), about locus of control : individual's pattern of responses across the three scales may be more predictive than his or her scores on each of the scale seperately. The fact that passive coping was used more than active coping also suggests that self controlled active co ping is encouraged to chronic patients as well as acute patients. And it is necessary to articulate the coping scale and self-efficacy scale. It is also necessary to study the relationship of coping and adjustment by experimental design.
The aim of the present study is to obtain ecological data necessary for increasing the survival rate and effective individual management of fox cubs by analyzing the behavioral pattern during the lactation period. The subjects of the present study were baby foxes born in 2013 and taken care of at the species restoration technology institute, Korea National Park Service. Our analysis on the lactation of fox cubs and their appearance pattern outside the burrow revealed that the frequency and duration of lactation decreased with the growth of the cubs, whereas the frequency of the cubs venturing outside the den, activity time, and distance ventured increased. By the $30^{th}$ day after birth, in particular, the lactation behavior of the vixens largely decreased, and the activity of the cubs outside the den increased accordingly. Thus, for future management of the propagation of fox individuals for securing the original breed, it is necessary to increase the living food source. In addition, while capturing foxes for individual marking of cubs born in the wild, it is desirable to capture cubs older than 30 days not only for easy capture but also to minimize negative influence on the growth of the cub.
This paper proposes a new group mobility model for wireless communication. The mobility model considers the psychological and sociological behavior of each node and the perception of other nodes for describing interactions among a set of nodes. The model assumes no permanent membership of a group, capable of capturing natural behaviors as fork and join. It emulates a cooperative movement pattern observed in mobile ad hoc networks of military operation and campus, in which a set of mobile stations accomplish a cooperative motion affected by the individual behavior as well as a group behavior. The model also employs a physic model to avoid a sudden stopping and a sharping turning.
This study attempted to examine the changing patterns of marital love constructs among married men and women in Korea. It is based on our prior research that showed each of the 3 dimensions of marital love(intimacy, passion, and commitment derived from Stermberg’s Triangular Theory of Love) shaped U pattern as the marriage continued. We analyzed 1687 respondents’answers by principal axis factoring with contextual point of view including individual, familial, and socio-cultural development. The results are as follows. First, the love constructs of Korean men and women in their marriage show different qualitative patterns as the marriage continued. Second, intimacy is the most powerful indicator of love, coming out the first factor in all the stages of marital relationships. Third we can see marital stability from the locus of commitment with other components of love and it could be apply to marital educational program for promoting marital stability. Forth, passion is found separated behavioral from perceived dimension except the first marital stage. As conclusion, it need to analyze with family life cycle. birth and marriage cohort groups for examining closely the causes of this qualitative changes in marital relationships.
As a virtual identity on the virtual space, Avata is expressed in the various graphic forms such as 2D and 3D. Avata is not just combination of characters, but it also reveals the cultural Avitus of the times or the society, which often represents the discrimination according to the generation or social stratum or the unconscious choice of popular culture The modern days are absolutely influenced by the popular culture. And, it is also the case in the virtual space as well as the real world, influencing the fashion trend, cultural taste, and even the behavioral pattern of individuals. Hereupon, through an analysis of cases of using Avata character graphic, we are going to look into the technical ways of expressing Avata and the overall pop culture trend and individual life pattern and taste which are shown in the choice of outfit, necessaries, and background. And, we will also find out the kitsch characteristics in the consumption of Avata. And, we also expect that the image of Avata would be developing into a positive identity demonstrating one's existence on the virtual space, not simply a meaningless choice and combination of image in expressing and consuming Avata.
