  • The understanding of another's behavior is a fundamental cognitive ability for primates including humans. Recent neuro-physiological studies suggested that there is a direct matching algorithm from visual observation onto an individual's own motor repertories for interpreting cognitive ability. The mirror neurons are known as core regions and are handled as a functionality of intent recognition on the basis of imitative learning of an observed action which is acquired from visual-information of a goal-directed action. In this paper, we addressed previous works used to model the function and mechanisms of mirror neurons and proposed a computational model of a mirror neuron system which can be used in human-robot interaction environments. The major focus of the computation model is the reproduction of an individual's motor repertory with different embodiments. The model's aim is the design of a continuous process which combines sensory evidence, prior task knowledge and a goal-directed matching of action observation and execution. We also propose a biologically inspired plausible equation model.

  • This study examines the socioeconomic determinants of fertility behavior in Korea by developing a model which simultaneously takes into account both individual and community-level differences. It especially focuses on the micro-macro nexus of fertility behavior depending on social contexts. This study utilizes micro data obtained from the 1974 Korean National Fertility Survey(KNFS), and macro data obtained from Korean government statistics. The framework of the model is formalized as a set of structural equations modelling the fertility process. The model is formed on a cohort-specific processual basis and is restricted to five-year birth cohorts. Three cohorts of women are studied : those aged 30-34, 35-39, and 40-44. The model includes three fertility-process components : age at first birth, early fertility, and later fertility, which are defined by reference to the age of the mother. The results of this study indicate that socioeconomic development in Korea results in increased age at first birth and reduced numbers of children per couple. In addition to the developmental change, Korea's fertility decline is found to be facilitated by family planning programs. As expected, the effect of family planning on fertility is greater among better-educated women than among poorly educated women. The inconsistent but suggestive result, however, is that the effect of socioeconomic development on fertility is greater among less-privileged women than among more-previleged women.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the sustainable practices of nutrition science teachers and dietitians working in school food service operations, and identify the social and psychological factors which affect the overall efficacy of the system. The research model was constructed based on the Extended Theory of Planned Behavior (ETPB) in order to analyze how individual motivation affects the sustainable practices of nutrition science teachers and dietitians. The data were collected through e-mail and postal mail from nutrition science teachers and dietitians all across Korea, and self-administered surveys were conducted. SPSS and AMOS programs were used for statistical analysis. First, the sustainable practices of nutrition science teachers and dietitians were analyzed in 6 different categories. Second, the significant pathways were 6 out of 9 in the ETPB model. Sustainable food service practices in school can contribute to the formation of more a sustainable culture, such as through the encouragement of more healthy eating habits, and higher level of environmental awareness and community awareness. The factors influencing these practices can be applied to the design of improvement programs aimed at increasing sustainable practices.

  • The Sightseeing ITS is defined as a system that gives tourists and inhabitants the information concerned with road network conditions, parking, sightseeing spots, and travel time in the relevant area. When focusing on tourists' excursion behaviors in sightseeing areas, however, it is sometimes found that they feel much annoyed with insufficient information about the area. While they also have a variety of needs to get information and make a decision about their excursions, it becomes one of important subjects to understand the actual circumstances of their information usage and to identify the causal relationship between their excursion patterns and the obtained information. This paper aims to investigate basic issues toward development of Sightseeing ITS and to modify an analytical model of tourist's excursion behavior considering information usage at Fuji five lakes Area, which is a representative sightseeing place in Japan. The relationship was analyzed using a structural equation model: information usage at the scheduling stage has an impact on tourists' individual cognition of the sightseeing area, tourists' individual cognition affects information usage at the excursion stage, and information usage at the excursion stage affects behavior during excursions. It is found that tourists' decision making behaviors on their excursion tend to depend on the information usage. This implies essential results to construct effective and customer oriented ITS.

  • This study investigates the predictive model of the adolescents' computer entertainment behavior using neural network with the KYPS data (3449 in the junior high school; 1725 boys and 1724 girls). This study compares the results of neural network(model 1) to the logistic regression model and neural network(model 2) with the exact same variables used in logistic regression. The results reveal that the prediction of neural network model 1 is the highest among three models and with gender, computer use time, family income, the number of close friends, the number of misdeed friends, individual study time, self-control, private education time, leisure time, self-belief, stress, adaptation to school, and study related worries, the neural network model 1 predicts the computer entertainment behavior more efficiently. These results suggest that the neural network could be used for diagnosing and adjusting the adolescents' computer entertainment behavior.

  • Emerging attacks aim to access proprietary assets and steal data for business or political motives, such as Operation Aurora and Operation Shady RAT. Skilled Intruders would likely remove their traces on targeted hosts, but their network movements, which are continuously recorded by network devices, cannot be easily eliminated by themselves. However, without complete knowledge about both inbound/outbound and internal traffic, it is difficult for security team to unveil hidden traces of intruders. In this paper, we propose an autonomous anomaly detection system based on behavior profiling and relation mining. The single-hop access profiling model employ a novel linear grouping algorithm PSOLGA to create behavior profiles for each individual server application discovered automatically in historical flow analysis. Besides that, the double-hop access relation model utilizes in-memory graph to mine time-sequenced access relations between different server applications. Using the behavior profiles and relation rules, this approach is able to detect possible anomalies and violations in real-time detection. Finally, the experimental results demonstrate that the designed models are promising in terms of accuracy and computational efficiency.

  • Impulse buying has been considered a pervasive and distinctive phenomenon in the modern lifestyle and has been receiving increasing attention from consumer researchers and theorists. In the modern marketplace, spontaneous urges to buy and consume often compete with the practical necessity to delay the immediate gratification that purchasing provides. The purpose of this study is to conceptualize and test the framework of impulse buying behavior for fashion products using structural equation model. Data were obtained from 413 students attending universities during schedules classes in Busan. Analysis of the data, utilizing AMOS 4.1, supported most of the predictions. The results showed that situational variable(time available) and individual variable(fashion involvement) have direct effects on consumers' shopping emotions, including positive and negative emotion. Positive emotions had effects on all types of impulse buying(planned impulse buying, reminded impulse buying, and fashion-oriented impulse buying), while negative emotion affected two types of impulse buying(reminded impulse buying and fashion-oriented impulse buying). These emotional experiences influence impulse buying behaviors for fashion products serving as critical mediators. The findings suggest that time available and fashion involvement are good predictors mediated by shopping emotion to impulse buying behavior for fashion products. The implications of this research for future work on the shopping emotion and impulse buying behavior are discussed.

  • Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) considers perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness as the important determinants of user behavior regarding information technology. As an extension of TAM, this research examines perceived security as an additional determining variable to explain an individual's acceptance and use of mobile banking as well as internet banking. The results show that perceived ease of use does not affect the individual's attitude toward the use of mobile or internet banking, while perceived usefulness does. Furthermore, perceived security affects perceived usefulness in mobile banking, but not in internet banking. In addition, in mobile banking, perceived security is positively related to perceived usefulness, though perceived security is negatively related to attitude. Finally, the average scores of surveyed data for Internet banking are higher and significantly different than those for mobile banking.

  • The purposes of this study are in threefold; to explain the interactivity in web site, to extend the Technology Acceptance Model(TAM) in the WWW context, and to examine its relationship with the existing TAM components. We proposed that the WWW is not just web systems but interactive spaces for virtual community. Web interactivity is represented by the two constructs: system interactivity and social interactivity. We extended and empirically examined the TAM for the web context. An individual's attitude toward the use of the web site is significantly affected by the individual's perception about ease of use, usefulness, and system interactivity. At the same time, behavioral intentions to use the web site is highly related to the social interactivity. The results showed that the system interactivity and social interactivity of a web site are important factors in affecting the user's beliefs and behavior intention of such a web site, So web page providers not only have to make the web site useful and easy to use, but also need to design an interactive web page by putting both systemic aspects and social aspects.
