Topic detection is a problem of discovering the topics of online publishing documents. For topic detection, it is important to extract correct topic words and to show the topical words easily to understand. We consider a topic tree-based approach to more effectively and more briefly show the result of topic detection for online text documents. In this paper, to achieve the topic tree-based topic detection, we propose a new term weighting method, called CTF-CDF-IDF, which is simple yet effective. Moreover, we have modified a conventional clustering method, which we call incremental k-medoids algorithm. Our experimental results with Reuters-21578 and Google news collections show that the proposed method is very useful for topic detection.

Collaborative ontology construction is the latest trend in developing ontologies. In this technique domain specialists and ontologists need to work together. Because of the complexity associated with ontology construction, it's done in an iterative and incremental fashion. After each iteration, an ontology increment will be produced. Current ontology increment is always an enhanced version of the previous increment. Each ontology increment has to be verified for its accuracy. Domain specialists' contribution is very significant in accomplishing this necessity. Unfortunately, non-computing domain specialists (i.e. medical doctors, bankers, lawyers) are illiterate on semantic concepts. Therefore, validating the accuracy of the ontology increment is a complex hurdle for them. This research proposes verbalization approach to address this complexity.
This paper proposes a novel time-domain homogenization model combining the viscoelastic constitutive law with Eshelby's inclusion theory-based micromechanics model to predict the mechanical behavior of the particle reinforced composite material. The proposed model is intuitive and straightforward capable of predicting composites' viscoelastic behavior in the time domain. The isotropization technique for non-uniform stress-strain fields and incremental Mori-Tanaka schemes for high volume fraction are adopted in this study. Effects of the imperfectly bonded interphase layer on the viscoelastic behavior on the dynamic mechanical behavior are also investigated. The proposed model is verified by the direct numerical simulation and DMA (dynamic mechanical analysis) experimental results. The proposed model is useful for multiscale analysis of viscoelastic composite materials, and it can also be extended to predict the nonlinear viscoelastic response of composite materials.

Various electronic warfare situations drive the need to develop an integrated electronic warfare simulator that can perform electronic warfare modeling and simulation on radar threats. In this paper, we analyze the components of a simulation system to reversely model the radar threats that emit electromagnetic signals based on the parameters of the electronic information, and propose a method to gradually maintain the reverse extrapolation model of RF threats. In the experiment, we will evaluate the effectiveness of the incremental model update and also assess the integration method of reverse extrapolation models. The individual model of RF threats are constructed by using decision tree, naive Bayesian classifier, artificial neural network, and clustering algorithms through Euclidean distance and cosine similarity measurement, respectively. Experimental results show that the accuracy of reverse extrapolation models improves, while the size of the threat sample increases. In addition, we use voting, weighted voting, and the Dempster-Shafer algorithm to integrate the results of the five different models of RF threats. As a result, the final decision of reverse extrapolation through the Dempster-Shafer algorithm shows the best performance in its accuracy.
In the real-world operational environment, most of text classification systems have the problems of insufficient training documents and no prior knowledge of feature space. In this regard, $Na{\ddot{i}ve$ Bayes is known to be an appropriate algorithm of operational text classification since the classification model can be evolved easily by incrementally updating its pre-learned classification model and feature space. This paper proposes the improving technique of $Na{\ddot{i}ve$ Bayes classifier through feature weighting strategy. The basic idea is that parameter estimation of $Na{\ddot{i}ve$ Bayes considers the degree of feature importance as well as feature distribution. We can develop a more accurate classification model by incorporating feature weights into Naive Bayes learning algorithm, not performing a learning process with a reduced feature set. In addition, we have extended a conventional feature update algorithm for incremental feature weighting in a dynamic operational environment. To evaluate the proposed method, we perform the experiments using the various document collections, and show that the traditional $Na{\ddot{i}ve$ Bayes classifier can be significantly improved by the proposed technique.
This study suggested a method of forecasting market-share of each mode after introducing new urban rail transit lines. The study reflected the observed market share of presently operating urban rail transit into forecasting process in order to improve accuracy in predicting market share of each modes. For more realistic representation of the forecasting model, we categorized O/D pairs according to attributes of trip distance, access time and number of transfers. The analysis results of traveler's mode choice behavior with observed data showed that the trip distances are longer, the share of urban rail tends to be higher, and that the number of transfers is fewer and the access times are lesser, the share of urban rail also tends to be higher. Then, incremental logit model was used in estimating mode choice probabilities for O/D pairs along with rail transit lines while utilizing observed market shares of each modes and differences in transit service level. As the next step, the market share of rail transit after introducing new rail transit lines was forecasted by using incremental logit model with the intial share values calculated the previous analysis step. It also reflected changes in level of service for automobile in highway due to changes in highway systems and changes in mode shares after introducing new lines of rail transit. It can be expected that the proposed method would more realistically duplicates phenomena of mode choice behavior for rail transit and that it would be more theoretically logical than the typical existing methods using SP data and incremental logit model or using addictive logit model in this country.

The objective of this study is to adjust the roll gap fur the dimension accuracy of bar in hot bar rolling process considering roll wear. In this study hot bar rolling processes fur round and oval passes have been investigated. In order to predict the roll wear, the wear model is reformulated as an incremental from and then wear depth of roll is calculated at each deformation step on contact area using the results of finite element analysis, such as relative sliding velocity and normal pressure at contact area. Archard's wear model was applied to predict the roll wear. To know the effects of thermal softening of DCI (Ductile Cast Iron) roll material according to operating conditions, high temperature micro hardness test is executed and a new wear model has been proposed by considering the thermal softening of DCI roll expressed in terms of the main tempering curve. The new technique developed in this study for adjusting roll gap can give more systematically and economically feasible means to improve the dimension accuracy of bar with full usefulness and generality.
Welding of structure produces welding residual stresses which influence buckling strength, brittle fracture strength and cold crack on the weld parts. Therefore, it is very important to accurately analyze the residual stress before welding in order to guarantee the safety of weldment. If the weld length is long enough compared to the thickness and the breadth of plate, thermal and mechanical behaviors in the middle portion of the plate are assumed to be uniform along the thickness direction(z-axis). Thus, the following conditions(so-called plane deformation) can be assumed for the plate except near its end;1) distributions of stress and strain are independent on the z-axis;2) plane normal to z-axis before deformation remains plane during and after deformation. In this paper, plane-deformation thermal elasto-plastic problem is formulated by being based on the finite element method. Moreover special regards and paid to the fact that material properties in elastic and plastic region are temperature-dependence. And the method to solve the plane-deformation thermal elasto-plastic problem is shown by using the incremental technique. From the results of analysis, the characterisics of distribution of welding residual stress and plastic strain with the production mechanism are clarified.

This paper proposes the fuzzy PI controller for maximum power point tracking(MPPT) control of photovoltaic system. The output characteristics of the solar cell are a nonlinear and affected by a temperature, the solar radiation. The MPPT control is a very important technique in order to increase an output and efficiency of the photovoltaic system. The conventional perturbation and observation(PO) and incremental conductance(IC) are the method which finding maximum power point(MPP) by the continued self-excitation vibration, and uses the fixed step size. If the fixed step size is a large, the tracking speed of maximum power point is faster, but the tracking accuracy in the steady state is decreased. On the contrary, when the fixed step size is a small, the tracking accuracy is increased and the tracking speed is slower. Therefore, this paper proposes the MPPT control using the fuzzy PI controller that can be improve a MPPT control performance. The fuzzy PI controller is adjusted a input of PI controller by fuzzy control and compensated a cumulative error of fuzzy control by PI controller. The fuzzy PI MPPT control is compared to conventional PO and IC MPPT method for various temperature and radiation condition. This paper proves the validity of the fuzzy PI controller using these results.

Since the oil crisis in 1970, a great deal of effort has been made to develop automatic electric load sharing systems as a part of the efforts to save energy. A large scale electric generating system composes more than two generators whose characteristics may be different. When such a system is operated individually or in parallel, the lagrange multiplier's method has difficulty in achieving optimal load distribution because generators usually have the limitations of the operating range with inequality constraints. Therefore, a suitable operating mode of generators has to be decided according to the selection of the generators to meet electric power requirements at the minimum cost. In this study, a method which solves the optimal electric load distribution problem using the dynamic programming technique is proposed. This study also shows that the dynamic programming method has an advantage in dealing with the optimal load distribution problem under the limitations of the operating range with inequality constraints including generator operation mode. In this study, generator operating cost curve of second order equation by shop trial test results of diesel generators are used. The results indicate that the proposed method can be applied to the ship's electric generating system.
