Study of Smart Vehicle Seat for Real-time Driver Posture Monitoring (운전자 자세 실시간 모니터링이 가능한 스마트 자동차 시트 연구)

  • In recent years, the increasing interest in health-care requires the industrial products to be well-designed ergonomically. In the commercial vehicle industry, several researchers have demonstrated the driver's posture has great effect on the orthopedic desease such as fatigue, back pain, scoliosis, and so on. However, the existing sensor systems developed for measuring the driver posture in real time have suffered from inaccuracy and low reliability issues. Here, we suggest our smart vehicle seat system capable of real-time driver posture monitoring by using the air bag sensor package with high sensitivity and reliability. The ergonomic numerical model which can evaluate a driver's posture has been developed on the basis of the human body segmentation method followed by simulation-based validation. Our experimental analysis of obtained pressure distribution of a vehicle seat under the different driver's postures revealed our smart vehicle system successfully achieved the driver's real-time posture data in great agreement with our numerical model.

  • Logistics systems can be evaluated by how productively distribution center operates, how promptly transportation vehicle dispatches, how efficiently facility layout is, and so on. In this paper, a practical vehicle routing scheme with fixed delivery time and fixed vehicle routes is introduced. The method helps the distribution center reduce logistics cost with respect to dispatching vehicles, and satisfy the customer with pre-determined delivery time window constraints. A case study has shown that the proposed scheme not only generates a feasible schedule with time windows, but also balances material flow in warehouse.

  • Vehicle routing problem with time windows is determined each vehicle route in order to minimize the transportation costs. All delivery points in geography have various time restriction in camparision with the basic vehicle routing problem. Vechicle routing problem with time windows is known to be NP-hard, and it needs a lot of computing time to get the optimal solution, so that heuristics are more frequently developed than optimal algorithms. This study aims to develop a heuristic method which combines guided local search with a tabu search in order to minimize the transportation costs for the vehicle routing assignment and uses ILOG programming library to solve. The computational tests were performed using the benchmark problems.

  • This study deals with the designing of vehicle pedal considering simple reaction time of visual information. Because vehicle accidents may bring about fatal results, the vehicle design which is considered with safity is very important. Though the vehicle design considered with safity is important in the whole parts of vehicle, the designing of pedal which is directly connected the designing of pedal which can minimize reaction time to risk through simple experiments. In the experiments, the experience of driving, the location of brake pedal and the space between brake and accelerator pedal are considered. Using experiment equipment and IBM-PC, simple reaction time was measured. The data which was result from measurement was analyzed with SPSS/PC+. When brake pedal located right side and the space between brake and accelerator pedal was 35cm, reaction was minimized. Based on this results, the vehicle pedal should be designed.

  • This paper addresses a model for the transportation planning that determines the transportation cycle time and the vehicle size to minimize the cost in a distribution system. The vehicle routing to minimize the transportation distance of the vehicles is also determined. A distribution system is consisted of a distribution center and many retailers. Products are transported from distribution center to retailers according to transportation planning. A model is assumed that the time horizon is continuous and infinite, and the demand of retailers is constant and deterministic. Cost factors are the transportation cost and the inventory cost, which the transportation cost is proportional to the transportation distance of vehicle when products are transported from distribution center to retailers, and the inventory cost is proportional to inventory amounts of retailers. A transportation cycle time and a vehicle size are selected among respective finite alternatives. The problem is analyzed, and a illustrative example is shown.

  • The real-time multibody vehicle model based on the subsystem synthesis method has been developed. Suspension, anti roll bar, steering, and tire subsystem models have been developed for vehicle dynamics. The compliance effect from bush element has been considered using a quasi-static method to achieve the real time requirement. To validate the developed vehicle model, a quarter car and a full vehicle simulations have been carried out comparing simulation results with those from the ADAMS vehicle model. Real time capability has been also validated by measuring CPU time of the simulation results.

  • This study developed signal optimization algorithm by analyzing vehicle arrival patterns. The major principle of signal optimization is dissipate all queueing vehicle in 1cycle and assign delay time uniformly for all approaches. For this, this study used optimal green time and surplus green time. Optimal green time calculated by estimated traffic volume from vehicle arrival model. Surplus green time defined as the gap of optimal green time and queue dissipated time. And alternative cycle has minimum surplus green time was selected as the optimal cycle. Finally, total delay and average delay per vehicle can be calculated by using queueing theory.

  • In this research a real time vehicle dynamic simulation software, to be used on real time vehicle simulators, is developed using relative coordinates and suspension super-element concept. Accuracy of the software is verified through comparisons of simulation results with those of a commercial mechanical system dynamic analysis package. It is demonstrated that real time simulation on a workstation with a 15 D.O.F. vehicle model is possible.

  • This paper develops ABS braking real - time simulator to develop vehicle braking system by simulation. Recently, real-time simulation is widely used in the development of vehicles to decrease development time. In the field of electronic braking, real-time simulation is actively underway. In order to simulate electronic braking model in real time, a vehicle model, a hydraulic model, and a control S/W model are required. These models must be calculated in one platform. Therefore, in this paper, a vehicle model composed of CarSim and a hydraulic model composed of SimulationX using S/W in actual ABS controller was developed as a Simulink model base and linked with Matlab real time model. Using this real-time model, design effects of the electronic braking controller were simulated according to road surface condition to verify its operability.

  • In this study, a real-time simulation model was developed for tracked vehicles with in-arm type semi-active hydro-pneumatic suspension unit using MATLAB S-functions. Since the vehicle model uses relative coordinates and massless link elements, the developed model has an enhanced analytic time performance. Through the comparison of simulation results with multi-body software(DADS), the vehicle model is verified. A controller using on-off skyhook control algorithm is designed with the pilot-centre]led proportional valve based on conventional damper characteristics. Exploiting the developed tracked vehicle model with other subsystem model such as a controller model, a suspension unit model, and a test road model, computer simulations are carried out. Control simulation results with the developed tracked vehicle model show that the semi-active suspension control system has a better performance than the conventional suspension system.
