부유식 해양플랜트 계류 체인의 면외굽힘 거동에 대한 연구 (A Study on Out-of-Plane Bending Mechanism of Mooring Chains for Floating Offshore Plants)

  • OPB(out-of-plane bending)-induced failure of mooring chain was firstly addressed by CALM (catenary anchor leg mooring)-type offloading buoy, located approximately one mile away from the bow of the Girassol FPSO which was installed offshore area of Angola in September 2001. This study deals with verifying the load transfer mechanism between the first free chain link and connected two chain links inside the chain hawse. OPB moment to angle variation relationships are proposed by extensive parametric study where the used design variables are static friction coefficients, proof test loads, nominal tension forces, chain link diameters, chain link grades and chain link types. The stress ranges due to OPB moments are obtained using nonlinear FEAs (finite element analyses). Final stress ranges are derived considering ones from IPT (in-plane tension) forces. Also a formula for OPB fatigue assessment is briefly introduced.

The Poisson effect on the curved beam analysis

  • The bending stress formula that taking into account the transverse deformation is developed for plane-curved, untwisted isotropic beams subjected to loadings that result in deformations in the plane of curvature. In order to account the transverse Poisson contraction effect, a new constitutive relation between force resultants, moment resultants, mid-plane strains and deformed curvatures for a curved plate is derived in a $6{\times}6$ matrix form. This constitutive relation will provide the fundamental basis to the analyses of curved structures composing of isotropic or anisotropic materials. Then, the bending stress formula of a curved isotropic beam can be deduced from this newly developed curved plate theory. The stress predictions by the present analysis are compared to those by the analysis that neglected the Poisson contraction effect. The results show that the Poisson effect becomes more significant as the Poisson ratio and the curvature are getting larger.

  • 유한요소 해석을 수행하여 엘보우의 거동을 파악하였으며 해석 시 엘보우의 휨 각도와 엘보우계수를 주요변수로 사용하였다. 사용하중은 엘보우 축이 형성하는 평면 내에 작용하는 휨 모멘트를 사용하였으며 해석 결과를 이론적 정해 법으로 유도된 ASME 코드 식과 비교하였다. 또한 엘보우 단면의 응력상태와 유연도 특성을 이용하여 엘보우 단면의 타원변형으로 인한 엘보우의 기하학적 비선형 특성을 설명하였다.

조선용 고장력강재와 보통강도강재간의 용접부위의 부식피로와 전기방식에 관한 연구 (A study on the corrosion fatigue and cathodic protection of the welded zone between high tensile strength steel and general strength steel used for the shipbuilding)

  • The plane bending corrosion fatigue test was performed on the welded zone between SM58 steel plate and SM41 steel plate jointed with submerged arc welding in the air and in the natural sea water with various conditions. The main results obtained from the test are summarized as follows: 1) The welded zone of the steel plates has the lowest impact strength and the highest electrode potential, but the hardness was mediate of SM58 base and SM41 base. 2) The cathodic protection of the welded zone was also effective for the plane bending corrosion fatigue, and the optimum protection potential of the welded zone was -1,000 mV SCE. 3) The corrosion fatigue strength under the various stress conditions of the steel plate could be estimated and also the require safety factors on the design could be obtained from the plane bending fatigue limit diagram.

TWB 판넬의 기계적특성 평가에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Evaluation of Mechanical Characteristics for Tailor Welded Blank Panel)

  • There are many methods to reduce the weight and the cost of the automobile body, among them, Tailor Welded Blank (TWB) is new welding method applied to body structure. It is necessary to evaluate mechanical properties of TWB structures or sheets for the application to automobile body parts. In this study, the stiffness of T-type and L-type joint structures, composite of TWB panel, which simplified two portions of side structure in automobile body were investigated. Additionally, the fatigue properties of TWB panels were obtained. Two types of welding technologies, laser and mash seam welding, were used to join mild panels with different thickness. This results are compared with conventional structures. The results are as follows: 1) The stiffness of joint structures, composite of TWB panel, is approximately 17% higher than that of conventional ones. 2) The location of welding line in TWB had a effect on the in plane bending stiffness, but not on the out of plane bending stiffness. 3) In terms of welding technology type, the mash seam welding show higher stiffness than the laser welding for in plane bending stiffness. But minimal differences in both types are revealed for out of plane bending stiffness. 4) The fatigue strength, composite of TWB panel, is lower than that of base steel. It is thought that defects in the welding zone had the action of notch in the fatigue test.

  • 본 연구는 면내 전단과 휨을 동시에 받는 직교이방성 구조재의 복부판의 탄성좌굴거동에 대한 해석적 연구결과이다. 펄트루젼 방법으로 생산된 섬유보강 플래스틱을 직교이방성으로 간주하였다. 복부판의 좌굴해석에서 직교이방성 재료의 역학적 성질을 고려할 수 있도록 기존의 등방성 판의 좌굴해석을 위해 개발된 이론적 해를 확장하였다. 이론식의 해를 구하는 방법으로 Rayleigh-Ritz법을 사용하였으며, 면내 전단과 휨을 동시에 받는 복부판의 탄성좌굴강도를 구할 수 있는 그래프를 제시하였다. 전단과 휨의 상호작용과 관련된 설계기준에 대해서도 도한 검토하였다.

인장 굽힘피로를 받는 부재의 피로수명과 균열관통 (Fatigue Life and Peneration Behaviour of Material under Combined Tension and Bending Stress)

  • The leak-before-break(LBB) design on the large structures such as ship's hull, tank structure, pressure vessels etc. is one of the most inportant subjects for the evaluation and the assurance of safety. In these structures, various loads are acting. In some structural members, therefore, out-of-plane stress due to bending often may become with in-plane stress due to stretching. In the present report, the characteristics of fatigue life and peneration behaviour from a surface cracked plate under combined tension and bending have been studied experimentally and analytically by using eccentricity. Estimation of fatigue crack growth was done with the Newman-Raju formula before penetration, and with the stress intensity factor after penetration proposed by the author. Calculated aspect ratio showed the good agreement with the experimental result. It was also found that particular crack growth behaviour and crack shape after penetration can be satisfactorily evaluated using the K solution proposed.

  • Dynamic behavior of an automatic dynamic balancer is analyzed by a theoretical approach. Using Lagrange's equation, we derive the non-linear equations of motion for an automatic dynamic balancer equipped in a rotor with the bending flexibility with respect to the rectangular coordinate. Considering the rotor bending flexibility we analyze out-of-plane vibrations as well as in-plane vibrations of the automatic dynamic balaner. The time responses are computed from the non-linear equations by using a time integration method. We also investigate the effect of rotor flexibility on the behavior of the automatic dynamic balancer

직물의 평면 드레이프 계수와 측면 드레이프 계수와의 관계 (Relationship between Plane and Side Drape Coefficient of Fabrics)

  • To investigate the relationship between plane and side drape coefficient, the drape tester designed in which coordinate of projected outline of draped specimen could be recorded. By using this drape tester, the three dimensional shape, plane and side drape coefficient were obtained from coordinate of plane projected shape, and furthermore examined the tendency in changes of drape coefficient in terms of diameter of specimen, deflection angle, and bending rigidity. The side drape coefficients were constant regardless of changes in diameter of specimen. The plane drape coefficients, however, made a little difference according to changes in diameter of specimen. The experimental drape coefficient agreed well with the theoretical drape coefficient according to deflection angle. In the meanwhile, when the plane drape coefficients were regressed with the side drape coefficents, regression equation was $y=0.375x-0.002x^2+6.9\times10^{-5}x^3$. When the $\overline{\theta_s}$ is mean of deflection angle of selected points which have the longest and shortest distance from center point in the node, the theoretical drape coefficient calculated from $\overline{\theta_s}$ has high correlation with experimental drape coefficient. The plane and side drape coefficient changed linearly with increasing the bending length, $\sqrt[3]{EI/w}$.

Practical estimation of the plastic collapse limit of curved pipes subjected to complex loading

  • In this paper a practical limit load estimating procedure is proposed for general pipe-elbow structures subjected to complex loading (in-plane and out-of-plane bending, internal pressure and axial force). The explicit calculating formulae are presented on the basis of theoretical analysis combined with numerical simulation. Von Mises' yield criterion is adopted in both analytical and numerical calculation. The finite element examination shows that the method provides a simple but satisfactory prediction of pipe structures in engineering plastic analysis.
