  • The support vector machine (SVM) is becoming increasingly popular in classification. The import vector machine (IVM) has been introduced for its advantages over SMV. This paper tries to improve the IVM. The proposed method, which is referred to as the polychotomous machine (PM), uses the Newton-Raphson method to find estimates of coefficients, and the Rao and Wald tests, respectively, for addition and deletion of import points. Because the PM basically follows the same addition step and adopts the deletion step, it uses, typically, less import vectors than the IVM without loosing accuracy. Simulated and real data sets are used to illustrate the performance of the proposed method.

Specifically', trade state between Korea and Japan is discovered and theoretical model is also used to analysis competitiveness between two countries. And then real measuring methods of competitive index is Introduced, the status of Korean fishery products in Japan import market is analysed totally through the study of comparative predominance and export competition. The analysis is based on the statistical methods such as RCA, RMI, and CMS. In summary, first, Korean fishery products have the comparative predominance in Japan, China and Thailand, but they have the comparative inferiority in USA, considering research results. Second, competitiveness of fishery products between Korea and in Japan import market extreme, relatively, competitiveness of Korean fishery products for Thailand's fishery products is lowest. Third, Korean fishery products maintain unconstant pattern, but competitive inputs result in increasing export to Japan generally.

  • Indigenous technological development and import of foreign technologies are two major sources of industrial innovation in Korea. This paper mainly deals with the analysis of the relationship between the two sources, employing the Tobit method. The estimation of the effects of those two sources on the firms' sales growth is also performed, including other exogenous variables such as fixed capital formation and the amount of exports, etc. in the model. Technological import is shown to be complimentary rather than substitute for or competitive with R&D in the Korean industries during 1990. This is understandable because R&D may be conducted to absorb and adapt the advanced imported technologies as well as to further more innovative technological development. Fixed capital formation is positively correlated with technology import, but negatively correlated with R&D. Technology importation seems to have contributed much more than R&D to the sales increase in the Korean industries.

  • Energy holds key to economic growth and prosperity of India. Currently, India has very high-energy import dependence, especially in the case of crude oil (80%) and natural gas (40%). Even coal import has been increasing over the years. Considering India's population growth, emphasis on manufacturing, production, and service industry, energy consumption is bound to increase. More fossil energy consumption means greater dependence on energy import leading to widening trade deficit and current account deficit. Therefore, exploitation of indigenous renewable energy production is necessary. The paper reviews the progress and growth of renewable energy production, distribution, and consumption in India. The paper highlights some of the enablers of renewable energy in India. The authors discuss the opportunities and challenges of increasing share of renewable energy to reduce energy import and address issues of energy security in India. The findings suggest that India is ready for a quantum leap in renewable production by 2022.

  • The business environment changing very fast with technology advance and convergence makes the role of R&D become more and more important to firms' success. By analyzing the 683 firm-level data of small and medium venture firms with the ordinary least squares regression, this study sheds new light on the following four points. First, small and medium venture firms' exterior R&D collaboration network heterogeneity positively impacts their import substitution from technology development. Second, the existence of the corporate R&D center moderates the positive impact of small and venture firms' exterior R&D collaboration network heterogeneity on their import substitution from technology development. Third, small and venture firms' exterior R&D information network heterogeneity positively impacts their import substitution from technology development. Fourth, The existence of the corporate R&D center moderates the positive influence of small and venture firms' exterior R&D information network heterogeneity on their import substitution from technology development.

  • The main purpose of this research is to investigate the present circumstances of internal marketing in domestic apparel-import company and study if the internal marketing activities in import apparel company have a significant effect on salespersons' job satisfaction. As a preliminary investigation, the interviews with 6 expert salespersons of imported apparel company were taken to develop a practical measuring tool. As a result, 21 categories which effect on internal marketing and 6 factors which influence on job satisfaction were extracted. Next, a survey with the salespersons who work in apparel-import company was taken, and 186 collected data were used in this study. To analyze the data, factor analysis, frequency analysis, and multiple regression analysis are executed by a statistics package, SPSS v12.0. The results are as follows. First, five factors which effect on internal marketing activities in have been identified as welfare, incentives, employment & training, communication, empowerment. Among them, four factors of welfare, incentives, employment & training, and communication have been come out as statistically significant factors which influenced on salesperson's job satisfaction. Second, the internal marketing activities of import apparel company according to salesperson's demographic factors - payment, working periods, and marriage have been demonstrated significant difference on salespersons' job satisfaction. When the marriage is examined, the job satisfaction of the single mostly depends on incentives while that of the married does on welfare. On the consideration of working periods, the less does the group have working experience, the more does it have a dependence on incentives. On the other hand, the group which has much payment and experience mostly relies on welfare. The middle class show to be dependent on communication and employment&training as well as welfare and incentives.

  • In this paper, we investigate the selection of transport route for import-export container cargo based on the sacrifice model and environmental cost of transport route. At first, the sacrifice model, environmental cost of transport, the volumes and the transport share of import-export container cargo are investigated briefly. And next, the transport time and cost, the environmental cost which is caused by cargo transport are investigated for the transport of import-export container cargo from Busan Port to Seoul. And also we calculate the sacrifice of each route by using the sacrifice model including the environmental cost. Finally we decide the transport route of import-export container cargo by using the sacrifice of each transport route. From the research results, we confirm that the road transport share decreases and the coastal transport share increases when the environmental coast of transport is considered.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the economic effects of a flame retardant aluminum screen developed by a company Economic effects were analyzed in terms of micro and macro-economic aspects. In the macro-economic aspect, economic effects were analyzed under the assumptions that the total import volume of flame retardant aluminum screen was approximately $50m^2$ in 2015 and that possible import substitution rates were 100%, 80%, and 60%. Results showed economic values of 2.25 billion won (100% import substitution rates), 1.8 billion won (80% import substitution rates), and 1.35 billion won (60% import substitution rates). If existing farms which had been using imported flame retardant aluminum screen replaced it newly developed with the flame-retardant aluminum screen developed in this study at rates of 100%, 80%, and 60%, the farms could save 750 million won, 60 million won, and 45 million won, respectively. Furthermore, the social cost savings from fire prevention could be 1.184 billion won. In the micro-economic aspect, if a farm with a typical-size ($1,000m^2$) greenhouse growing red pepper wanted to install flame retardant aluminum screen instead of generic aluminum screen, the farm may only pay an additional cost of 720,000 won. In comparison, if the farm chose fire insurance instead of flame-retardant aluminum screen, then the farm would pay 21,000,000 won for fire insurance. The above results show that the economic effect of flame retardant aluminum screen developed by the company would be be very efficient compared to the imported one.
