충격반향기법을 이용한 화해를 입은 고강도 콘크리트의 탄성파 특성 (Characteristics of Elastic Wave in Fire damaged High Strength Concrete using Impact-echo Method)

  • 본 연구에서는 충격반향기법을 이용하여 화해를 입은 고강도 콘크리트의 화재손상정도를 평가하였다. 100 MPa급의 고강도 콘크리트 시편을 제조하여 $100{\sim}800^{\circ}C$의 고온에 2시간 동안 노출한 후 충격반향기법의 응답스펙트럼을 이용하여 시편의 탄성파 속도를 측정하였으며, 이를 이용하여 동탄성계수를 산출하였다. 이후 직접 압축강도 실험을 통해 시편의 잔존압축강도와 정탄성계수를 측정하였다. 실험결과, 노출되는 온도가 높을수록 탄성파의 속도, 동탄성계수, 잔존압축강도, 정탄성계수가 저하되는 경향을 나타냈으며, 탄성파 속도와 압축강도, 동탄성계수와 정탄성계수는 선형적인 상관관계를 나타냈다. 따라서 충격반향기법을 이용하여 화해를 입은 고강도 콘크리트의 화재손상정도를 평가하는 것이 가능하다고 판단된다.

  • The needs of walking assistive device such as the Ankle Foot Orthosis (A.F.O.) are getting greater than before. However, most of the A.F.O. are generally imported rather than domestic manufacturing. The major reason of high import reliability is the rack of impact properties of domestic commercial products. Therefore, this research is going to focus on the evaluation of impact properties of the A.F.O. which has the high import reliability. Unfortunately, these kinds of researches are not performed sufficiently. This research is going to evaluate impact energy behavior in composite materials such as the glass/epoxy (S-glass, $[0/90]_{2S}$) and the aramid/epoxy (Kevlar-29, woven type, 8 ply) of ankle foot orthosis. The approach methods were as follows. 1) The history of impact load and impact energy due to the various velocities. 2) Relationship between the deflection and damage shape according to the impact velocities. 3) The behavior of absorbed energy and residual strength rate due to the various impact velocities.

Early-Age Properties of Polymer Fiber-Reinforced Concrete

  • The cracking problem in concrete is widespread and complex. This paper reviews the problem and focuses on those parts of the problem that are more readily solved. Polymer fibers are shown to have promise in several important areas of the cracking problem. To investigate one of these areas of the cracking problem more completely, an experimental research program focusing on the early-age properties of fibers was carried out. This study researched the properties of four polymer fibers; two of the fibers were macrofibers, and two were microfibers. Each fiber was tested at several dosage rates to identify optimum dosage levels. Early-age shrinkage, long-term shrinkage, compressive strength, and tensile strength were investigated. Long-term shrinkage and strength impacts from the polymer fibers were minimal; however, the polymer fibers were shown to have a great impact on early-age shrinkage and a moderate impact on early-age strength.

원공이 있는 복합재 적층판의 압축강도 예측 (Compressive Strength Prediction of Composite Laminates Containing Circular Holes)

  • 원공이 있는 복합재 적층판의 강도는 복합재 항공기기 설계 시 충격하중이 가해지는 부위의 설계 허용치로 사용된다. 일반적으로 BVID (Barely Visible Impact Damage)에 의한 강도저하는 24.0 mm 폭의 시편에 6.0 mm 지름의 원공이 있는 시편의 강도로 가정한다. 본 연구에서는 원공이 있는 복합재 적층판의 강도에 적층각이 미치는 영향을 조사하기 위해 잔류강도 시험을 수행하였다. 원공이 있는 적층판의 강도를 예측하기 위해 특성길이를 이용한 점응력 파손기준을 사용하였고, 이론해를 검증하기 위하여 유한요소해석을 수행하였다. 실험결과로부터 특성길이는 0°, ±45°와 90°층의 비율과 관련이 있음을 보였다. 또한 회귀분석을 통하여 임의의 적층 패턴에 대한 특성길이와 원공이 없는 시편의 강도를 결정하였다.

3점 굽힘 하중 해석을 통한 복합재 도어 임팩트 빔 단면형상 설계개선 (Design Improvement of Composite Door Section Impact Beam by Three-Point Bending Analysis)

  • The currently observed trend in car manufacturing is to increase energy-efficiency by producing lighter cars. This study examines the replacement of particular parts, specifically around the impact beam, with material composites 30% lighter than conventional steel currently used. The shape of the impact beam was determined as the trapezoidal cross-sectional area with central reinforcement, using three-point bending analysis. A prototype was fabricated based on the findings of our study and its performance was evaluated by the three-point bending analysis; 2 ply of aramid applied for its displacement. The performance of the final prototype for the door assembly was evaluated using a side-door strength test, which resulted to measured initial strength of 10.5 KN and intermediate strength of 15.6 KN. This research provides a promising solution for better impact beam manufacturing.

오스테나이트계 Fe-18Mn-18Cr-0.61N 고질소강의 인장 및 충격 특성에 미치는 냉간 가공의 영향 (Effect of Cold Working on Tensile and Charpy Impact Properties of a High-Nitrogen Fe-18Mn-18Cr-0.61N Austenitic Steel)

  • High-nitrogen Fe-18Mn-18Cr-N austenitic steels with higher yield strength have been recently developed and used for generator retaining rings because they have non-magnetic, high strength, high ductility, and good corrosion resistance. In the present study, a high-nitrogen Fe-18Mn-18Cr-0.61N austenitic steel was fabricated and then tensile and Charpy impact tests were conducted on them in order to investigate the effect of cold working on the mechanical properties. Although the yield and tensile strengths usually increased with cold working, the ductility and impact toughness significantly decreased after cold working. On the other hand, the high-nitrogen austenitic steel exhibited a ductile-brittle transition due to unusual brittle fracture at low temperatures despite having a face-centered cubic structure. The ductile-brittle transition temperature obtained from Charpy impact tests could be remarkably increased by $60^{\circ}C$ after 20% cold working because of the enhanced cleavage-like brittle fracture.

Mechanical behaviors of concrete combined with steel and synthetic macro-fibers

  • In this paper, hybrid fibers including high elastic modulus steel fiber and low elastic modulus synthetic macro-fiber (HPP) as two elements were used as reinforcement materials in concrete. The flexural toughness, flexural impact and fracture performance of the composites were investigated systematically. Flexural impact strength was analyzed with statistic analyses method; based on ASTM and JSCE method, an improved flexural toughness evaluating method suitable for concrete with synthetic macro-fiber was proposed herein. The experimental results showed that when the total fiber volume fractions ($V_f^a$) were kept as a constant ($V_f^a=1.5%$), compared with single type of steel or HPP fibers, hybrid fibers can significantly improve the toughness, flexural impact life and fracture properties of concrete. Relative residual strength RSI', impact ductile index ${\lambda}$ and fracture energy $G_F$ of concrete combined with hybrid fibers were respectively 66-80%, 5-12 and 121-137 N/m, which indicated that the synergistic effects (or combined effects) between steel fiber and synthetic macro-fiber were good.

산소 플라즈마 처리가 탄소섬유강화 복합재료의 충격특성에 미치는 영향 (Influence of Oxygen Plasma Treatment on Impact Behaviors of Carbon Fibers-reinforced Composites)

  • In this work, effects of oxygen plasma on surfc1ce characteristics of carbon fibers were investigated in impact strength of carbon fibers-reinforced composites. The surface properties of the carbon fibers were determined by acid/base values, FT-IR, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Also, the mechanical properties of the composites were studied by impact strength measurements. As experimental results, the $O_{IS}/C_{IS}$ ratio of the carbon fiber surfaces treated by oxygen plasma was increased compared to that of untreated ones, possibly due to development of oxygen-containing functional groups. The mechanical properties of the composites, including impact strength had been improved by the oxygen plasma on fibers. These results could be explained that the oxygen plasma resulted in the increase of the adhesion of between fibers and matrix in a composite system.

  • For the damage tolerance improvement of conventional laminated composites, stitching process has been utilized for providing through-thickness reinforcements. 2D prefonl1S were stacked with S-2 glass plain weave, and 3D preforms were fabricated using the stitching process. For the matrix system, epoxy and phenol resins were considered. To examine the damage resistance performance the low velocity drop weight impact test has been carried out, and the impact damage was examined by scanning image. CAI (Compressive After Ih1paet) tests were also conducted to evaluate residual compressive strength. Compared with 2D epoxy composites, 2D phenol composites showed drastic reduction in the compressive strength prior to impact because of the higher contents of voids. The damage area of 2D phenol composites were also larger than that of 2D epoxy composites. However, by introducing the stitching, the damage area of 3D phenol composites was reduced by 60%, while the CAI strength improvement was negligible.

HR Coil재 Box형 용접구조물의 피로강도평가에 관한 연구 (Fatigue Strength Evaluation of Welded Box Type with HR Coil)

  • Due to the difficulties associated with the supply of steel plates, hot rolled coil (Steel grade: SM490A) is considered fur structural materials in replace of the existing SWS50A-M1. However, it is found that SM490A exhibits a significant anisotropy in terms of impact energy with respect to transverse and longitudinal directions. In this study, an experimental investigation is carried out to examine the relationship between the anisotropy in impact values and the fatigue strengths of SM490A with respect to the rolling direction of test specimens. All test specimens failed around 1,500,000 cycles regardless of the test specimen direction. Therefore, it is found that the anisotropy in impact energy is not related to the fatigue strength of the materials considered in this study. However, the transverse direction specimen showed more rapid brittle fracture mode compared to that of longitudinal direction specimen, and this appears to be related to the lower impact values in transverse direction.
