  • A new method, called dynamic space projection method that is suitable to remote sensing image, is adopted to encrypt GCP (ground control point) datum in this paper. The essence of this method is to encrypt enough GCP by using a few known GCP in order to realize the precise correction of remote sensing image. By making use of the method to the GCP datum encrypting and precise geometric correction of TM image and SPOT image, the precision of encrypted GCP is less than one pixel, the precision of precisely corrected image is less than two pixels.

  • Change detection of remote sensing images is a profound challenge in the field of remote sensing image analysis. This paper proposes a novel change detection method for bitemporal remote sensing images based on feature fusion and fuzzy c-means (FCM). Different from the state-of-the-art methods that mainly utilize a single image feature for difference image construction, the proposed method investigates the fusion of multiple image features for the task. The subsequent problem is regarded as the difference image classification problem, where a modified fuzzy c-means approach is proposed to analyze the difference image. The proposed method has been validated on real bitemporal remote sensing data sets. Experimental results confirmed the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • Remote sensing has been widely used in the exploration of groundwater. In this paper, on the establishment of empirical function between ground water and soil moisture content 6S code is used to reduce uncertainties in the remote sensing of groundwater. Then ground water levels are calculated using 6S corrected and uncorrected ETM+ image along with isochronous meteorological information. Greater correspondence between field examined and satellite monitoring data is obtained from corrected image than from the uncorrected image.

  • The remote sensing image server provides advanced image serving capabilities for geospatial image. Wide seamless image mosaics of Landsat 5 over GMS countries, which exceed a 15 GB or more in size per image, can integrate with other GIS map servers. The approach of two improvement algorithms leads to speed up the response time while preserving the data quality. This system does not only provide images on the web, but also provide GIS layers to WMS client map servers. The advantage of this approach is its efficiency lower cost in terms of cost, time and updating to obtain and utilize remote sensing image.

  • In the area of remote sensing, an immense number of images are continuously generated by various remote sensing systems. These images must then be managed by a database system efficient storage and retrieval. There are many types of image database systems, among which the content-based image retrieval (CBIR) system is the most advanced. CBIR utilizes the metadata of images including the feature data for indexing and searching images. Therefore, the performance of image retrieval is significantly affected by the storage method of the image metadata. There are many features of images such as color, texture, and shape. We mainly consider the shape feature because shape can be identified in any remote sensing while color does not always necessarily appear in some remote sensing. In this paper, we propose a metadata representation and storage method for image search based on shape features. First, we extend MPEG-7 to describe the shape features which are not defined in the MPEG-7 standard. Second, we design a storage schema for storing images and their metadata in a relational database system. Then, we propose an efficient storage method for managing the shape feature data using a Wavelet technique. Finally, we provide the performance results of our proposed storage method.

  • To address the problem of multi-target retrieval (MTR) of remote sensing images, this study proposes a new object-level feature representation model. The model provides an enhanced application image representation that improves the efficiency of MTR. Generating the model in our scheme includes processes, such as object-oriented image segmentation, feature parameter calculation, and symbolic image database construction. The proposed model uses the spatial representation method of the extended nine-direction lower-triangular (9DLT) matrix to combine spatial relationships among objects, and organizes the image features according to MPEG-7 standards. A similarity metric method is proposed that improves the precision of similarity retrieval. Our method provides a trade-off strategy that supports flexible matching on the target features, or the spatial relationship between the query target and the image database. We implement this retrieval framework on a dataset of remote sensing images. Experimental results show that the proposed model achieves competitive and high-retrieval precision.

  • Previous technology of remote sensing was focused on analyzing raster image and gaining information through image processing. But now it has extended to diverse fields like automatic map generation, material exploitation or monitoring environmental changes with effort to utilizing practical usage. And with rapid expansion of information exchange on Internet and high-speed network, the demand of public which want to utilize remotely sensed image has been increased. This makes growth of service on acquisition and processing remotely sensed image. GeoNet is a Java-based remotely sensed image processing system. It is based on Java object-oriented paradigm and features cross-platform, web-based execution and extensibility to client/server remotely sensed image processing model. Remotely sensed image processing software made by Java programming language can suggest alternatives to meet readily demand on remotely sensed image processing in proportion to increase of remotely sensed data. In this paper, we introduce GeoNet and explain its architecture.

  • Mobility and cloud platform have become the dominant paradigm to develop web services dealing with huge and diverse digital contents for scientific solution or engineering application. These two trends are technically combined into mobile cloud computing environment taking beneficial points from each. The intention of this study is to design and implement a mobile cloud application for remotely sensed image fusion for the further practical geo-based mobile services. In this implementation, the system architecture consists of two parts: mobile web client and cloud application server. Mobile web client is for user interface regarding image fusion application processing and image visualization and for mobile web service of data listing and browsing. Cloud application server works on OpenStack, open source cloud platform. In this part, three server instances are generated as web server instance, tiling server instance, and fusion server instance. With metadata browsing of the processing data, image fusion by Bayesian approach is performed using functions within Orfeo Toolbox (OTB), open source remote sensing library. In addition, similarity of fused images with respect to input image set is estimated by histogram distance metrics. This result can be used as the reference criterion for user parameter choice on Bayesian image fusion. It is thought that the implementation strategy for mobile cloud application based on full open sources provides good points for a mobile service supporting specific remote sensing functions, besides image fusion schemes, by user demands to expand remote sensing application fields.

  • Many users want to add some their own information to data which was on the web and computer without actually needing to touch data. In remote sensing, the result data for image classification consist of image and text file in general. To overcome these inconvenience problems, we suggest the annotation method using XML language. We give the efficient annotation method which can be applied to web and viewing of image classification. We can apply the annotation for web and image classification with image and text file. The need for thesaurus construction is the lack of information for remote sensing and GIS on search engine like Empas, Naver and Google. In search engine, we can’t search the information for word which has many different names simultaneously. We select the remote sensing data from different sources and make the relation between many terms. For this process, we analyze the meaning for different terms which has similar meaning.

  • Image segmentation techniques becoming increasingly important in the field of remote sensing image analysis in areas such as object oriented image classification. This paper presents a new method for image segmentation in High Resolution Remote Sensing Image based on Seeded Region Growing (SRG) and Edge Information. Firstly, multi-spectral edge detection was done using an entropy operator in pan-sharpened QuickBird imagery. Then, the initial seeds were automatically selected from the obtained edge map. After automatic selection of significant seeds, an initial segmentation was achieved by applying SRG. Finally the region merging process, using region adjacency graph (RAG), was carried out to get the final segmentation result. Experimental results demonstrated that the proposed method has good potential for application in the segmentation of high resolution satellite images.
