세그멘트기법을 이용한 프랙탈 영상 부호화에 대한 연구 (A study On the Image Coding Based on the Segmented Fractal Coding)

  • Fractal coding is a promising method for image compression, but it has not lived up to its promise as low bit-rate image compression scheme. The existing algorithms for finding self-mapping contractive transforms are computationally expensive and offer a poor rate-quality tradeoff. In this paper, we propose a segment based fractal coding. We classify the range blocks into shade, midrange or edge blocks, and segment edge block along the edge. And we apply midrange coding scheme for each segment. Our experiments show that our method gives better rate-qualty trade of than current fractal block coding methods.

  • A contour shape matching based pixel motion estimation is proposed. The pixel motion information is very useful to compensate the motion artifact generated at the specific gray level contours in the moving image for subfield gray-scale display devices. In this motion estimation method, the gray level boundary contours are extracted from the input image. Then using contour shape matching, the most similar contour in next frame is found, and the contour is divided into segment unit. The pixel motion vector is estimated from the displacement of the each segment in the contour by segment matching. From this method, more precise motion vector can be estimated and this method is more robust to image motion with rotation or from illumination variations.

Image segmentation and line segment extraction for 3-d building reconstruction

  • This paper presents a method for line segment extraction for 3-d building reconstruction. Building roofs are described as a set of planar polygonal patches, each of which is extracted by watershed-based image segmentation, line segment matching and coplanar grouping. Coplanar grouping and polygonal patch formation are performed per region by selecting 3-d line segments that are matched using epipolar geometry and flight information. The algorithm has been applied to high resolution aerial images and the results show accurate 3-d building reconstruction.

  • 본 논문은 단어 분류에 기반한 새로운 텍스트 영상 워터마킹 알고리즘을 제안한다. 간단한 특징을 이용하여 단어를 K개로 분류한다. 이웃한 몇 개의 단어들을 조합하여 세그먼트를 구성하고, 세그먼트에 속한 단어들의 부류에 의해 세그먼트 또한 분류된다. 각 세그먼트에 동일한 양의 신호가 삽입된다. 신호 삽입은 세그먼트 부류가 갖는 단어 간 공백의 통계값을 조작함으로써 이루어진다. 몇 가지 기준에 따라 기존 단어 이동 알고리즘과의 주관적인 비교가 제시된다.

  • In this work a new method for on-line scene segmentation is developed. In remote sensing a scene is represented by the pixel-oriented features. It is possible to reduce data redundancy by an unsupervised segment-feature extraction process, where the segment-features, rather than the pixelfeatures, are used for multispectral scene representation. The algorithm partitions the observation space into exhaustive set of disjoint segments. Then, pixels belonging to each segment are characterized by segment features. Illustrative examples are presented, and the performance of features is investigated. Results show an average compression more than 25, the classification performance is improved for all classes, and the CPU time required for classification is reduced by the same factor.

3D Segmentation for High-Resolution Image Datasets Using a Commercial Editing Tool in the IoT Environment

  • A variety of medical service applications in the field of the Internet of Things (IoT) are being studied. Segmentation is important to identify meaningful regions in images and is also required in 3D images. Previous methods have been based on gray value and shape. The Visible Korean dataset consists of serially sectioned high-resolution color images. Unlike computed tomography or magnetic resonance images, automatic segmentation of color images is difficult because detecting an object's boundaries in colored images is very difficult compared to grayscale images. Therefore, skilled anatomists usually segment color images manually or semi-automatically. We present an out-of-core 3D segmentation method for large-scale image datasets. Our method can segment significant regions in the coronal and sagittal planes, as well as the axial plane, to produce a 3D image. Our system verifies the result interactively with a multi-planar reconstruction view and a 3D view. Our system can be used to train unskilled anatomists and medical students. It is also possible for a skilled anatomist to segment an image remotely since it is difficult to transfer such large amounts of data.

Image Dehazing Enhancement Algorithm Based on Mean Guided Filtering

  • To improve the effect of image restoration and solve the image detail loss, an image dehazing enhancement algorithm based on mean guided filtering is proposed. The superpixel calculation method is used to pre-segment the original foggy image to obtain different sub-regions. The Ncut algorithm is used to segment the original image, and it outputs the segmented image until there is no more region merging in the image. By means of the mean-guided filtering method, the minimum value is selected as the value of the current pixel point in the local small block of the dark image, and the dark primary color image is obtained, and its transmittance is calculated to obtain the image edge detection result. According to the prior law of dark channel, a classic image dehazing enhancement model is established, and the model is combined with a median filter with low computational complexity to denoise the image in real time and maintain the jump of the mutation area to achieve image dehazing enhancement. The experimental results show that the image dehazing and enhancement effect of the proposed algorithm has obvious advantages, can retain a large amount of image detail information, and the values of information entropy, peak signal-to-noise ratio, and structural similarity are high. The research innovatively combines a variety of methods to achieve image dehazing and improve the quality effect. Through segmentation, filtering, denoising and other operations, the image quality is effectively improved, which provides an important reference for the improvement of image processing technology.

곡선 조각의 군집화에 의한 둥근 물체의 효과적인 인식 (An efficient recognition of round objects using the curve segment grouping)

  • Based on the curve segment grouping, an efficient recognition of round objects form partially occuluded round boundaries is proposed. Curve segments are extracted from an image using a criterion based on the intra-segment curvature and local contrast. During the curve segment extraction the boundaries of pratially occluding and occuluded objects are segmented to different curve segments. The extracted segments of constant intra-segment curvature are grouped to different curve segments. The extracted segments of constant intra-segment curvature are grouped nto a round boundary by the proposed grouping algorithm using inter-segment curvature which gives the relatinships among the curve segments of the same round boundary. The 1st and the 2nd order moments are used for the parameter estimation of the best fitted ellipse with round boundary, and then recognition is perfomed based on the estimated parameters. The proposed scheme processes in segment unit and is more efficient in computational complexity and memory requirements those that of the conventional scheme which processed in pixel units. Experimental results show that the proposed technique is very efficient in recognizing the round object sfrom the real images with apples and pumpkins.

  • Strategic alliance is increasingly becoming a popular strategy in the family restaurant industry. In general, strategic alliance can be defined as several brands collaborating in technology development, marketing, or production while keeping their independence as separate business entities. This study identified segments on the basis of sales promotion resulting from strategic alliances between family restaurants and card companies. This study further investigated how brand image, brand value, price fairness, customer loyalty and demographics are different among the segments. From the statistical analysis, three segments were found; 'short-period benefits oriented' segment, 'intangible and discount benefits oriented' segment and 'free benefits oriented' segment. Among the three segments, the 'free benefits oriented' and 'intangible and discount benefits oriented' segments had greater perceived brand image, brand value and customer loyalty than the 'short-period benefits oriented' segment.

등고선 추출을 위한 적응적 길이 임계화 (Adaptive Segment-length Thresholding for Map Contour Extraction)

  • 본 연구는 지형도 영상으로부터 등고선 성분을 추출하는데 있어 대상 영상에 적응하여 결정되는 길이 임계치를 이용한 적응적 길이 임계화 방법에 관한 것이다. 우선, 적응적 길이 임계치는 주요 기호의 인식 후, 뒤따르는 고도치 영역에 대한 투영 히스토그램의 에지 검출을 통해 계산된 두 에지간의 거리로 결정된다. 그런 후, 분기점 탐색과 주변 흑화소 제거에 의한 단선화가 수행되고, 길이 임계화를 통해 등고선 성분을 추출한다. 제안 방법을 실험에 적용한 결과, 최종 추출된 등고선 성분 내에 비등고선 성분이 약 2.41% 포함되었으며, 97.59%는 등고선 성분인 것으로 나타났다.
