Features Detection in Face eased on The Model (모델 기반 얼굴에서 특징점 추출)

  • The human faces do not have distinct features unlike other general objects. In general the features of eyes, nose and mouth which are first recognized when human being see the face are defined. These features have different characteristics depending on different human face. In this paper, We propose a face recognition algorithm using the hidden Markov model(HMM). In the preprocessing stage, we find edges of a face using the locally adaptive threshold scheme and extract features based on generic knowledge of a face, then construct a database with extracted features. In training stage, we generate HMM parameters for each person by using the forward-backward algorithm. In the recognition stage, we apply probability values calculated by the HMM to input data. Then the input face is recognized by the euclidean distance of face feature vector and the cross-correlation between the input image and the database image. Computer simulation shows that the proposed HMM algorithm gives higher recognition rate compared with conventional face recognition algorithms.

  • This paper proposes a novel way of vehicle detection and classification based on image features. There are two main processes in the proposed system, which are database construction and vehicle classification processes. In the database construction, there is a tight censorship for choosing appropriate images of the training set under the rigorous standard. These images are trained using Haar features for vehicle detection and histogram of oriented gradients extraction for vehicle classification based on the support vector machine. Additionally, in the vehicle detection and classification processes, the region of interest is reset using a number plate to reduce complexity. In the experimental results, the proposed system had the accuracy of 0.9776 and the $F_1$ score of 0.9327 for vehicle classification.

  • This paper construct the sensibility database by extracting sensibility of 28 colors based on 12 color wheel. And, after the large color values are grouped by clustering of input image using k-mean algorithm, sensibility was extracted by matching with color and database. Also, we see the color sensible psychology of child using color distribution of children in painting.

  • Until now, Many approach to use the layer or attribute items in GIS the classification results of remotely sensed images is going on, but It was rarely ever tried to use the results of fuzzy classification in GIS. The fuzzy classification can be accurate than any other classification methods of remotely sensed images and can separately extract the result for each classification items. In this study, We applied to GIS database implementation with fuzzy classification result. In the process of this study, We convert the fuzzy classification image into the grid of GIS database, and Membership Grade Value files transformed to table database into the GIS. And then Membership Grade Values related to each grid-cell of database be able to verify with pointer layer. Finally, we can use the fuzzy classification images in GIS database.

  • An archiving system designed to enable documenting database of astronomical images, with functions of search and download, is being developed by Korean Astronomical Data Center(KADC) of Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute(KASI). The system consists of three PCs for web server, database server, and system management server. The search program for the web environment is operated in the web server. In the management server, several utility program we developed are installed: input program for the database, program for transfer from fits to jpg files, program for data recovery and management, and programs for statistics and connect management. The collected data would be sorted out by the system manager to input into the database. The online input is possible in an observatory where the data is produced. We applied the content management system(CMS) module for the database management. On the basic of CMS module, we set up a management system for the whole life cycle of metadata from creation and collection to storage and deletion of the data. For the search function, we employed a technique to extract indices from the metadata. In addition, MySQL is adopted for DBMS. We currently display about 2,700 and 25,000 photographs for astronomical phenomena and astronomical objects on the data, respectively.

Content-based Image Retrieval using LBP and HSV Color Histogram (LBP와 HSV 컬러 히스토그램을 이용한 내용 기반 영상 검색)

  • In this paper, we proposed a content-based image retrieval algorithm using local binary patterns and HSV color histogram. Images are retrieved using image input in image retrieval system. Many researches are based on global feature distribution such as color, texture and shape. These techniques decrease the retrieval performance in images which contained background the large amount of image. To overcome this drawback, the proposed method extract background fast and emphasize the feature of object by shrinking the background. The proposed method uses HSV color histogram and Local Binary Patterns. We also extract the Local Binary Patterns in quantized Hue domain. Experimental results show that the proposed method 82% precision using Corel 1000 database.

An effective classification method for TFT-LCD film defect images using intensity distribution and shape analysis (명암도 분포 및 형태 분석을 이용한 효과적인 TFT-LCD 필름 결함 영상 분류 기법)

  • In order to increase the productivity in manufacturing TFT-LCD(thin film transistor-liquid crystal display), it is essential to classify defects that occur during the production and make an appropriate decision on whether the product with defects is scrapped or not. The decision mainly depends on classifying the defects accurately. In this paper, we present an effective classification method for film defects acquired in the panel production line by analyzing the intensity distribution and shape feature of the defects. We first generate a binary image for each defect by separating defect regions from background (non-defect) regions. Then, we extract various features from the defect regions such as the linearity of the defect, the intensity distribution, and the shape characteristics considering intensity, and construct a referential image database that stores those feature values. Finally, we determine the type of a defect by matching a defect image with a referential image in the database through the matching cost function between the two images. To verify the effectiveness of our method, we conducted a classification experiment using defect images acquired from real TFT-LCD production lines. Experimental results show that our method has achieved highly effective classification enough to be used in the production line.

Development of Emotion Recongition System Using Facial Image (얼굴 영상을 이용한 감정 인식 시스템 개발)

  • Although the technology for emotion recognition is important one which was demanded in various fields, it still remains as the unsolved problems. Especially, there is growing demand for emotion recognition technology based on racial image. The facial image based emotion recognition system is complex system comprised of various technologies. Therefore, various techniques such that facial image analysis, feature vector extraction, pattern recognition technique, and etc, are needed in order to develop this system. In this paper, we propose new emotion recognition system based un previously studied facial image analysis technique. The proposed system recognizes the emotion by using the fuzzy classifier. The facial image database is built up and the performance of the proposed system is verified by using built database.

AUTOMATIC 3D BUILDING INFORMATION EXTRACTION FROM A SINGLE QUICKBIRD IMAGE AND DIGITAL MAPS

  • Today's commercial high resolution satellite imagery such as that provided by IKONOS and QuickBird, offers the potential to extract useful spatial information for geographical database construction and GIS applications. Digital maps supply the most generally used GIS data probiding topography, road, and building information. Currently, the building information provided by digital maps is incompletely constructed for GIS applications due to planar position error and warped shape. We focus on extracting of the accurate building information including position, shape, and height to update the building information of the digital maps and GIS database. In this paper, we propose a new method of 3D building information extraction with a single high resolution satellite image and digital map. Co-registration between the QuickBird image and the 1:1,000 digital maps was carried out automatically using the RPC adjustment model and the building layer of the digital map was projected onto the image. The building roof boundaries were detected using the building layer from the digital map based on the satellite azimuth. The building shape could be modified using a snake algorithm. Then we measured the building height and traced the building bottom automatically using triangular vector structure (TVS) hypothesis. In order to evaluate the proposed method, we estimated accuracy of the extracted building information using LiDAR DSM.

Applicability of Geo-spatial Processing Open Sources to Geographic Object-based Image Analysis (GEOBIA)

  • At present, GEOBIA (Geographic Object-based Image Analysis), heir of OBIA (Object-based Image Analysis), is regarded as an important methodology by object-oriented paradigm for remote sensing, dealing with geo-objects related to image segmentation and classification in the different view point of pixel-based processing. This also helps to directly link to GIS applications. Thus, GEOBIA software is on the booming. The main theme of this study is to look into the applicability of geo-spatial processing open source to GEOBIA. However, there is no few fully featured open source for GEOBIA which needs complicated schemes and algorithms, till It was carried out to implement a preliminary system for GEOBIA running an integrated and user-oriented environment. This work was performed by using various open sources such as OTB or PostgreSQL/PostGIS. Some points are different from the widely-used proprietary GEOBIA software. In this system, geo-objects are not file-based ones, but tightly linked with GIS layers in spatial database management system. The mean shift algorithm with parameters associated with spatial similarities or homogeneities is used for image segmentation. For classification process in this work, tree-based model of hierarchical network composing parent and child nodes is implemented by attribute join in the semi-automatic mode, unlike traditional image-based classification. Of course, this integrated GEOBIA system is on the progressing stage, and further works are necessary. It is expected that this approach helps to develop and to extend new applications such as urban mapping or change detection linked to GIS data sets using GEOBIA.
