  • This study applied cartoon-like simple and implicit symbol of Keith Haring works to tubular jacquard knit, designed woman casual knit wear with fun, explicit and activities using fluorescent yarns with explicit features. This study aimed to propose the directions for new market pioneering that meets the emotional requirements of modern people by raising the level of utilization and expression area of knit fashion, and to present the constructive directions for high value-added knit wear by designing highly effective knit wear. Methods of this study examined the lifetime and artistic background of Keith Haring and collected his works through searching of internet, scholastic publications or thesis. Formative types and colors of works collected were analyzed and classified according to characteristic standards of Haring and characteristic formativeness and color of works were extracted. The result of this study is as shown below: First, the feature of his works can be summarized into motif that has symbolic and implicit cartoon-like lines including narratives as well as enormous number of works. Such feature is very suitable for variation and recombination in realization of design and has unlimited potentials for development. Second, image colors can be extracted such as black and white, original color and fluorescent paints, which reflects the intention of artist who put focus on communication with the public. Such color feature is very suitable for design motif that has explicitness of reflecting the intention of artist through use of special fluorescent yarn. Third, I made it as reversible wear that has effects of increasing or decreasing the explicitness according to color area ratio using the feature of textures allowing use of both sides as well as form stability of tubular jacquard. Fourth, by adjusting the thickness of fabric with controlling of ply in fabric using poly yarn and wool union yarn, I could obtain good results of study in terms of technique that can express various materials with embossed dynamic effects of unevenness on flat surface.

  • Arts is the expression of reasoning and conscious life of human and arouse human the concept of existence, utmost emotion and excellent thoughts. Also it makes humans life very abundant. I make it come first to get rid of the art thirst on the opposite sight of technical one for hair as on part of humans body. Next purpose is that to confirm the esthetic value of 'hair arts' by solidify the academic ground of beauty arts through creating 'hair arts' works and learning and make the direction for the beauty industry and education of the next generation. In this study I investigated the Greek myth and the hair styles of ancient Greek Goddesses. On the basis of that symbols I elaborated hair formative works made of metal and studied, analyzed and displayed that. Work No.1 'aphne' pictures the second of changing into a laurel tree avoiding the love. Secondly 'Muse Erato' was exhibited the peaceful figure that have enough the fine melodies. 'Leda' brings out the feature of Leda resembling a swan and the fourth piece, 'Eos' conveys the brilliant and mystery of dawn. So this study conducted based on the concept of practical hair and have made efforts to be close to theoretical manufacturing research needed at making hair arts works and academic one needed at organic design composition for pioneering new field, 'art hair.' I hope these 'hair arts' works make creativity of the practise hair alive. It will be very thankful to me if this study can help even though slightly for splendid beauty arts to make its status firm as a one part of arts, and there are following studies.

  • A Chinese female writer Linhaiyin(林海音) and Chengnanjiushi(城南舊事), her representative work, have never been studied in Korea before although she and her literary works stand high and are well known in the history of the modern Chinese literature. Thus, in this paper, I analyze her and her novels included in Chengnanjiushi and study their literary value and meaning. To analyze and study them, I mainly consider novels Anhuiguan, Womenkanhaiqu, Lanyiniang, $L{\acute{\ddot{u}}}dagunr$, and Babadehuarluole included in Chengnanjiushi. Firstly, I look into her attitude and mode to observe children and women's life as a writer. Such attitude and mode succeeded to the spirit of the '5.4 literature'. Secondly, I evaluate Linhaiyin's 'Both sides complex' and its value in the history of literature. From this evaluation, the meaning of Linhaiyin's literature is highlighted. She was free from 'Both sides complex' occurred due to the circumstance of the times and played a role of a bridge so as not to break off literature of China and Taiwan. When her and her works are evaluated, this is one of the most important values. The characteristic of her writing mode is that she did not seek a compelling climax, a surprising reversal, or an exclusive plot or character in her works. In her works, plain description or unwitting conversation and story often imply deep meanings. Thus, at unexpected moment after reading her novels, readers truly listen to deep resonance for her attitude and mode to observe people's life. This is exactly her potential energy that makes readers sink into her literary world regardless of time and space.

  • To elucidate the regulatory mechanism for expression of sialyl-glycoconjugates and their biological functions, ninetheen sialyltransferase cDNAs including eleven by our group or co-works have been cloned and characterized so far. The cloned sialyltransferases are classified into four families according to the carbohydrate linkages they synthesize: ${\alpha}2,3-sialyltransferase$ (ST3Gal I-VI), ${\alpha}$ 2,6-sialyltransferase (ST6Gal I), GalNAc ${\alpha}$ 2,6-sialyltransferase (ST6GalNAc I-VI), and ${\alpha}2,8-sialyltransferase$ (ST8Sia I-VI). Each of the sialyltransferase genes is differentially expressed in a tissue-, cell type-, and stage-specific manner. These enzymes differ in their substrate specificity and various biochemical parameters. However, enzymatic analysis conducted in vitro with recombinant enzyme revealed that one linkage can be synthesized by multiple enzymes. We present here an overview of structure and function of sialyltransferases performed by our group and co-works. Genomic structures and transcriptional regulation of two kinds of human sialyltransferase gene are also presented.

  • The purpose of this study is to show the implications of the term "digital architecture," which are realized in the current architecture. To do this, I first observe its theoretical background and then analyze the works of Marcos Novak, Kas Oosterhuis, and Lars Spuybroek, all of whom are called the typical digital architects. In particular, this study tries to show that the digital architects are introducing the non-Euclidean multi-dimensions and the cyberspace and applying the notions of liquid architecture, transarchitecture, body-building, and body-building, and body-motorized system into their works. Finally, I conclude that the digital architecture anticipates the direction of the future architecture, in which the virtual world is merged with the real world, the digital space is realized in the real space, and the human is completely harmonized with nature.th nature.

  • While performing the overseas projects in developing countries under EDCF loans with Korean civil design engineers as a project manager, I often used to find out and realize that lots of Korean engineers are not fully aware of what EDCF means and how EDCF funded projects are being implemented in developing countries. This implies that in the past, they have been concentrating on domestic projects only, not to mention have the rare opportunities to work in overseas projects. For these reasons, no wonder they neither pay a careful attention to the unfamiliar terms nor intend to try to realize them, even though such terms are fundamentals and important in overseas design works. With 'something will make it do'-like-attitude in our mind on site, nothing helps us at all. To help those who would like to understand and participate in overseas civil design works in developing countries under EDCF loans either as participants or as a future project manager, I introduce what EDCF means and how the procedure under these loans is being carried out, and they are briefly described herein this paper.

  • Basically, modern architect's translation of relations between architectural space and human beings is focused upon the space and the way the space is experienced. Thus, the architecture is construed not as the finalized and fixed structure but as something undetermined and In progress. Here, we can identify the similarity between current trend and theory on process. Experience argument in this study is based upon such a similarity. And for your understanding of the spatial concept broached in the following experience argument, I've presented the analysis of Ben van Berkel's and Kazuyo Sejima's works that represent user's experiences in discussing art works. Taking a step further, I'll try to provide the true definition of being in progress and the potential of the architecture, thereby seeking the value and meaning of trends in modern architecture. In this regard, this study is aimed to analyze the attributes of experiences in progress identified in the art works of Ben van Berkel and Kazuyo Sejima and to extract and analyze the architectural concepts therein.
