  • The present study was conducted to examine the outbreak state of bovine dermatophytosis in 14 farms(4 dairy farms, 10 Korean indigenous cattle farms) in Gyeongbuk province from November 2000 to November 2001. The causative agents of dermatophytosis was identified by mycological examination. Antifungal susceptibility test of 26 isolates was performed by agar dilution method, using 5 antifungal drugs. Prevalence of bovine dermatophytosis was found to be 13.5%(90/665) in dairy cattle farms and 14.5%(220/1,520) in Korean indigenous cattle farms. The most common age at which this disease occurred was 2-12 months. This disease usually occurred from winter to spring and the occurrence subsequently decreased in the summer. But 4 Korean indigenous cattle farms with poorly hygienic status were occurred all the year round. The causative agent was identified as Trichophyton verrucosum exclusively in these case. Antifungal susceptibility test of T verrucosum (26 strains) was performed by agar dilution method, using 5 antifungal drugs including tolnaftate, griseofulvin, ketoconazole, amphotericin B and terbinafine. All isolates were highly sensitive to 5 antifungal drugs (geometric mean MICs 0.004∼0.032 $\mu\textrm{g}$/$m\ell$). The isolates were the most sensitive to especially tolnaftate.

  • By-products from fisheries produced in Korea are of the same industrial material as imported raw materials and are valuable resources for marine bioindustries. Securing raw materials for the mass production of functional materials is one of the main objectives for marine bioindustrial development. The use of fishery by-products as raw materials is anticipated to increase rapidly as the biomarket is growing into a promising industry. In this study, data were acquired from an open-source environment to perform exploratory data analysis, and various visualization methods were used to compare fishery production to the production of marine processed products in the year 2020. This study suggested that the amount of seafood processing, types of processing items, and areas where fishery processing residue is generated, should be able to secure hygienic raw material supply in large quantities. Thus far, it has been found that the Gyeonggi-do and Busan province, where HACCP-certified processing facilities are concentrated, and the local government Seafood Cluster and the Smart Aquaculture Cluster are at the forefront of stable, mass production of raw materials.

  • This study tried to suggest the basic materials that can be efficiently applied in clinical cases by understanding problems through a content analysis of an adult nursing assessment tool and opinion agreement about nurse's practical usage presently used in the hospital. The study was carried out in 36 attached hospitals in nationwide universities from May to December, 1999, the two hundred and twenty five reports were for analysis. The contents of the collected nursing assessment tool were analyzed. It was found that the tool had been used with various names and content and there were instances of partial omission of a number of items, such as documentation and time records. Other results revealed that they mostly had a systematic classification of items, formation of details a form of a check list, and the effect of saving time. In spite of the adult nursing assessment tool, it was suggested that its style be subdivided according to the specialized of a department and that standardized style be amended and supplemented. The respondents also answered that there had to be education about continuous and sufficient health assessment skills on the physical examination record. The most frequently suggested items to be added were: past history, marital status, patient and caregiver's address and telephone number. It was found that a patient's education career, economic status, religion, hygienic practice, sexual life and hobby were the most frequently omitted items on record. • Canine parvovirus(CPV) is a very highly contagious virus causing hemorrhagic enteritis and myocarditis mainly in young dogs. The diseases were first recognized in 1978, and then spread throughout the world by 1980. The main source of the infection seems to be the feces of infected dogs, at the same time feces are suitable materials for detection of virus in the enteric form exactly for the same reasons. Recently, a new technique of in vitro DNA amplification, Known as the polymerase chain reaction (PCR), has been widely applied to clinical viral diagnosis because of its sensitivity, specificity and rapidity. In this research, we attemped to set up the PCR for the detection of CPV in fecal samples and conformed the canine parvpviral enteritis by PCR. To increase the sensitivity and specificity of a PCR, the nested PCR (two-step PCR) was performed. We also surveyed the contamination status of CPV in the research using fecal specimen was highly sensitive and specific. Of the 100 fecal specimens suspected canine parvoviral enteritis, 45 fecal specimens were positive in HA test, 64 fecal specimens were positive in the first PCR, and 87 fecal specimens were positive in the second PCR. CPV contamination status of animal clinics and breeding centers was serious, wo hygienic management of environment in which dogs are reared is required. The nested PCR described here seems to be a rapid, sensitive and specific for the detection of canine parvovirus.

  • Korean government has issued the ratings standard for disease control of aquaculture farms according to the Aquatic Life Disease Control Act in 2008. There are five rating criteria within the enforcement regulations; period of disease free, performance of disinfection, environmental and hygienic management, keeping record of trade and sales, completion of education for disease control. There are no application has been applied on the basis of the rating criteria so far because detailed subcriteria and scoring indicators has not established for assessment process. In order to apply the ratings standard for disease control, we set up the subcriteria and new scoring for rating disease control level based on legal criteria in this study. This study was conducted on 90 targeted olive flounder farms in Jeju. The result of disease control level assessment on olive flounder aquaculture farms show the overall average of Jeju-do was 72.9 points and differed depending on the district; 74.7 in Jeju-si and 71.1 in Seogwipo-si, respectively. The Spearman correlation of each evaluation index show the disease control level score was correlated highly with the performance of disinfection(R=0.715, p<0.01), and environmental and hygienic management(R=0.661, p<0.01). The result of correlation analysis show that there is the highest correlation between the aquaculture farm status and the total mortality(R= -0.618, p<0.01). The reliability of the results are considered to be accurate in the Cronbach's alpha value of 0.727.
