해면으로부터 분리된 Bromotopsentin의 항산화활성 (Antioxidant Activities of Bromotopsentin from the Marine Sponge Spongosorites sp.)

  • Bromotopsentin (BSM) is a bisindole alkaloid compound, which is recognized as a metabolite of the marine sponge Spongosorites sp. In this study, the antioxidant activity of BSM was investigated. The 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) free radical scavenging assay, the trolox equivalent antioxidant capacity (TEAC) assay, the superoxide radical scavenging (NBT) assay, the lipid peroxidation and hydroxyl radical-induced DNA damage assays were carried out to evaluate the antioxidant activity of BSM. It was found that BSM had stronger scavenging activity on the stable free radical DPPH and superoxide radical than L-ascorbic acid with an $IC_{50}$ value of 62 and 64 ${\mu}M$, respectively. The TEAC value which indicated the total antioxidant capacity of BSM was about 0.8, which was also stronger than L-ascorbic acid. About 1.3 ${\mu}M$ of BSM induced 50% inhibition of lipid peroxidation. 60 nM of BSM exhibited a significant protective activity against DNA strand scission by hydroxyl radical on pBR322 DNA. Taken together, we suggest that BSM possesses strong antioxidant activity, and could be a valuable new addition to the list of anti-aging chemotherapeutic agents.

  • 자동차용 도장시스템으로 새롭게 대두되고 있는 roll coating process는 비친환경적이면서도 생산성이 떨어지는 기존의 습식도장공정을 완전 대체할 수 있는 기술로 알려져 있다. Pre-painted 강판 시스템에서 도막 유연성 및 강도 등의 구현을 위하여 경화거동뿐만 아니라 내식성 및 성형가공성, 유변학적 거동 등의 평가가 매우 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 pre-painted system에 적용하기 위하여 polyester 수지를 수산화기 및 분자량 변성을 통하여 합성한 후, 경화거동 및 딥드로잉, 인장력, 유변특성 등을 평가하였다. 40 (mg KOH-/mol)정도의 수산화기를 갖는 N-0375-40 system이 유연성 및 도막강도, 경화거동 등의 가장 우수한 물성을 나타내었다.

Sensitized Photodegradation of Benzene in Water

  • The photodegradation of benzene was studied in an aqueous solution using a medium pressure Hg-lamp. In this study, persulfate, nitrate, nitrite, chloride, and sulfate ions were all tested as sensitizers. The persulfate, nitrate, and nitrite ions exhibited a sensitizing effect in the photodegradation of benzene, whereas no detectable effects were observed with the sulfate and chloride ions. When nitrite ions were used as the sensitizer, the photodegradation of benzene ran through a maximum value and thereafter decreased with an increasing nitrite concentration. The resulting build-up of nitrite ions seemed to scavenge the hydroxyl radicals. When nitrite ions were present along with persulfate ions, the photodegradation of benzene was inhibited.

Antioxidant Activity of Hawthorn Fruit in vitro

  • The antioxidant activity of hawthorn fruit (Crataegus pinnatifida Bunge var. typica Schneider) extracts was investigated by several in vitro antioxidants properties, including DPPH free radical scavenging activity, total phenolic and flavonoid contents, hydroxyl radical scavenging activity, reducing power activity, iron-chelating capacity and nitrite scavenging activity. Among the extracts in this study, the 70% EtOH extract showed higher antioxidant activity than the others. The $IC_{50}$ value of DPPH free radical scavenging activity was $99.26\;{\mu}g/mL$. Furthermore, the 70% EtOH extract also showed significantly high total phenolic and flavonoids contents and reducing power activity. However, the MeOH extract exhibited stronger effects on hydroxyl radical scavenging activity, iron-chelating capacity and nitrite scavenging activity. All the results implicated that, the hawthorn fruit may has the available potential to be utilize as a potential source of natural antioxidant.

MgO.$P_2O_5$ 유리의 수분 측정 (Determination of Water in Magnesium Metaphosphate Glasses)

  • Infrared has been used in determination of water in magnesium metaphosphate glasses. The method consisted of measuring the weight loss and the variation in absorption coefficient at 3, 200$cm^{-1}$. The molar absorptivity of water in magnesium metaphophate glasses was found to 76.9ι$mol^{-1} cm^{-1}$ Using the value for $\varepsilon$, A and Δ$\upsilon$H of the hydroxyl band in the spectra of magnesium metaphosphate. The molar absorptivity of the hydroxyl absorption band at 3, 3130-2, $925cm^{-1}$ in the spectra of MgO.$P_2O_5$ system glasses could be computed. And a variation of molar absorptivity against the MgO/P2O5 ratio has not been shown regulation.

광분해반응을 통한 MTBE 분해 시 음이온 영향의 통계적 분석 (Statistical Analysis of The Influence of Inorganic Anions on MTBE Decomposition by Photolysis(UV/H2O2))

  • 이 연구는 Methyl tert Btyl Ether(MTBE)의 광촉매반응을 통한 제거시에 다양한 음이온($Cl^-$, $NO_3{^-}$, $HCO_3{^-}$)들의 영향을 통계적 방법을 사용하여 조사하였다. 이 공정은 일반적으로 UV의 존재 하에 수용액상에 생성되는 Hydroxyl radicals(OH라디칼)의 생성에 기초하며, 이러한 라디칼들의 생성은 수용액 상의 무기 음이온들이 OH라디칼과의 반응에 의해 광분해를 방해한다. 이런 무기음이온들의 영향은 반응표면법(RSM)의 한 종류인 혼합물분석(Mixture analysis)를 통해 $Cl^-$, $NO_3{^-}$$HCO_3{^-}$의 독립변수들을 수학적으로 표현하였다. 분산분석(Analysis of variance; ANOVA)의 회귀분석항은 유의한 p값(p<0.0001)과 높은 결정계수($R^2$=99.28%, ${R^2}_{adj}$=98.91%)를 나타냈다. 그리고 등고선도(Contour plot)와 반응표면도(Response surface plot)는 $UV/H_2O_2$ 공정에 기초한 MTBE 광분해에 대한 무기 이온들의 영향을 나타내었다. 이 연구의 결과는 MTBE의 광분해에 대해 $Cl^-$$HCO_3{^-}$ 이온이 OH라디칼의 생성을 방해하는 것으로 나타났고 이 두 인자에 의한 상호작용이 관찰되었다.

일반감자와 유색감자 에탄올 추출물의 생리활성 및 폴리페놀 함량 (Biological Activities and Total Phenolic Content of Ethanol Extracts of White and Flesh-colored Solanum tuberosum L. Potatoes)

  • 유색감자의 식품학적 가치를 향상시키고, 고기능성 유색감자 신품종 육성 및 기능성식품의 천연소재로써 기초자료를 제공하고자 일반감자인 '수미'와 다양한 유색감자의 생리 활성을 평가하였다. 총 폴리페놀 함량은 '수미'가 120.0 mg/100 g powder, '블루'가 151.1 mg/100 g으로 유색감자가 일반감자보다 더 많은 폴리페놀을 함유하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 전자공여능은 추출물의 농도가 높아질수록 활성이 증가하였으며, '레드'와 '하령'을 제외한 유색감자의 활성이 '수미'보다 뛰어났다. Hydroxyl radical 소거능은 $2,000{\mu}g/mL$ 농도에서 '하령'을 제외한 나머지 유색감자의 활성이 '수미' 보다 높았으며, 특히 '블루'가 65.5%로 가장 높았다. 전단구 백혈병 세포주인 THP-1에 대한 세포 독성은 '블루', '자서', '자심'이 강한 활성을 나타내었고, 간암세포 $HepG_2$에 대한 증식 억제 효과는 '블루'만이 높은 항암효과를 나타내었다. 이상의 결과, 유색감자는 일반감자보다 항산화 및 항암활성이 뛰어난 것으로 나타났으며, 특히 유색감자 중에서도 '블루'의 생리활성이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 '블루'를 비롯한 다양한 종류의 유색감자는 기능성식품 소재로써 개발할 가치가 매우 높음을 알 수 있으며, 특히 감자가 주식 또는 부식으로 손쉽게 섭취하는 식용작물임을 감안할 때 그 가능성은 더욱 증대될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

Margarine에 대한 고추과피 추출물의 항산화성에 관한 연구 (Antioxidant properties of red-pepper peel extracts on margarine.)

  • The effects of anti-oxidant of ether extract of red pepper peel were studied to compare with butylated hydroxyl toluene (BHT), citric acid and ascorbic acid. Peroxide and acid values of magarine irradiated with the sunlight were detected. The results were as follows: 1. The extract of red pepper peel influenced as antioxidant of magarine. But the extract was lower anti-oxidative effect than that of BHT at the same concentrations. The anti-oxidative effect increased with the concentration of the extract applied. 2. There was no synergistic and anti-oxidative effects, when the extract was used together citric and ascorbic acids. 3. The peroxide value of fermented magarine was controlled by the addition of the extract and BHT. However acid value of it was not controlled as much as peroxide value.

생강나무 추출물의 항산화 활성과 미백효과 (Antioxidant Activities and Whitening Effect from Lindera obtusiloba BL. Extract)

  • In this study we investigated antioxidant activity of against several free radicals and skin whitening effect of 70% ethanol extract (leaf extracts and branch/stem mixed) of Lindera obtusiloba BL. Antioxidant activity was assessed by DPPH, superoxide radical and hydroxyl radical assays. The Lindera obtusiloba BL. extract had antioxidant activity dose dependently with an ${IC}_{50}$ value of 243.14 and 181.10 ${\mu}g$/ml for DPPH, 165.77 and >1500 ${\mu}g$/ml for non-enzymatic system of superoxide radical assay, 35.47 and >100 ${\mu}g$/ml for enzymatic system of superoxide radical assay, 1.21 mg/ml for hydroxyl radical assay. In addition we tested tyrosinase inhibition activity and melanin contents on B16 melanoma F10. B16 melanoma cell was treated by such sample as 1, 5, 10 and 50 ${\mu}g$/ml for 72 hr and tyrosinase inhibition was tested. Melanogenesis was inhibited to 22% at the dose of 50 ${\mu}g$/ml and tyrosinase was inhibited to 45.2% at the same dose. In conclusion Lindera obtusiloba BL had potent antioxidant activity and inhibitory activity of tyrosinase and melanin formation. It could be developed as the health functional food and functional cosmetic resources.

건지황 증포횟수에 따른 숙지황의 항산화 특성 (Antioxidant Activity of Rehmanniae Radix Preparata Prepared from Dried Root through Steaming-Drying Cycles)

  • The objective of this study is to evaluate antioxidant activities of Rehmanniae Radix Preparata (RRP) prepared from dried root through nine repeated steaming-drying cycles. The total phenolic content of the final cycle of RRP increased to 165.2% compared with that of the 1st cycling product. Antioxidant activities which were determined by ferric-reducing antioxidant potential (FRAP), 2,2'-azinobis(3 ethybenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS) radical scavenging, 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrydrazyl (DPPH), and hydroxyl radical scavenging activities, increased remarkably as the number of steaming-drying cycles increased. Especially, FRAP value increased to 89.1%. Further, $IC_{50}$ values for DPPH and hydroxyl radical scavenging activities of the final 9th-cycling product decreased to 58.3% and 67%, respectively. Based on these results, it was observed that the antioxidant activities of RRP improve according to an increased number of steaming-drying cycles.
