Span 20과 Tween계 계면활성제의 물/공기 계면에서의 분자면적과 계면장력 거동 (Molecular Area and Interfacial Tension Behavior of Span 20 and Tween series surfactants at water/air interface)

  • The molecular areas and the interfacial tension behavior of ten nonionic surfactants, i.e., Span 20 and Tween 20, 40, 60. 80, 21, 61, 81, 65, & 85 are tested to assay their effects on the wetting and liquid retention properties of hydrophilic and hydrophobic fibrous materials. The molecular areas at water/air interface are derived from Gibbs’adsorption equations. The following conclusions are drawn from the results: 1) Span 20 is efficient in lowering the interfacial tension and effective in adsorption at the water/air interface, resulting in the low interfacial tension at critical micelle concentration (${\gamma}$$_{CMC}$) and a small molecular area($\omega$), 2) when the hydrophiles of the surfactants are constant, $\omega$’s increase as hydrophobe carbon numbers of the surfactants increase, 3) when the hydrophobes are constant, ${\gamma}$$_{CMC}$’s and $\omega$’s increase as the hydrophile ethylene oxide units increase, indicating effectiveness and efficiency is parallel in this case, 4) the ethylene oxide unit length as a hydrophile has greater influence on u than the hydrophobe chain length.han the hydrophobe chain length.gth.

사삼산화철 기반의 소립자시약(Small Particle Reagent)의 접착면 잠재지문 현출 효과에 영향을 미치는 요인 (The Factors Influencing Latent Fingermark Development on Adhesive Side of Iron Oxide Powder-based Small Particle Reagent)

  • 강력범죄사건에서 발견할 수 있는 증거물인 테이프는 접착면에 지문이 쉽게 유류될 수 있다. 청 테이프에 유류된 지문을 현출하고자 사삼산화철($Fe_3O_4$)기반의 Small Particle Reagents(SPR)를 사용하여 SPR의 제조비율 및 현출에 영향을 주는 요인에 대해 연구하였다. SPR이 지문현출에 영향을 주는 요인은 제조시 첨가되는 분말의 양, 계면활성제의 양, 계면활성제의 HLB(hydrophile-lipophile balance)에 의해 영향을 받는다. 증류수 100ml를 기준으로 분말의 양은 0.5g~1.0g일 때 융선에 적절한 양이 흡착되었으며 계면활성제의 양은 0.5ml이상이면 배경에 흡착된 분말들을 잘 씻어냈다. 또한 계면활성제의 HLB가 배경과 융선과의 대조비를 높이는 중요한 요인이었으며 유류된 지문의 지질 성분을 용해시키지 않는 11~18사이의 HLB가 뛰어난 현출력을 보였다.

Cellulase의 분자량과 섬유소의 표면공극 상이성이 여수도 및 종이의 강도적 특성에 미치는 영향 (The efect of freeness and paper physical properties treated with high and low molecular weight cellulase in the different surface pore sized fibers)

  • To examine how the difference of molecular weight distribution of cellulase influenced the beating process according to surface pore size of the fiber, high molecular weight enzyme and low one were applied to soft wood pulp, hard wood pulp, cotton linter pulp. Some enzymes with the distribution of low molecular weight penetrated into cellulose in the proportion of surface pore size and the results were negative as like : the low viscosity, decrease of refining Yield, decrease of fine fibers content and so on. But in cotton linter pulp in the small surface area, the fiber softness was increased and it had a positive result that the paper intensity was high. Other enzymes with the distribution of high molecular weight had an enzyme reaction on the most surfaces of cellulose. They were effective in eliminating the fuzz of hydrophile fine fibers and the freeness was increased.

  • The effects of surfactants affecting polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbon(PAHs) solubility and biodegradation in soil slurry were investigated. The critical micelle concentration(CMC) values of surfactants used in this study were 12.7mg/L(Brij 30), 13.4mg/L(Tween 80), 13.6mg/t(Triton X-100). The solubility of PAH increased as the Hydrophile-Lipophile Balance(HLB) value of surfactant decrease. At surfactant biodegradation and toxicity experiement using respirometer, Brij 30 did not show any toxic effect and substrate inhibition upon the level of 1.5g/L. Also, biodegradation of Brij 30 gave no reduction on the phenanthrene biodegradation rate. When the desorption rate of phenanthrene between sand and clay is compared, lower percentage of phenanthrene was desorbed at clay because of the larger surface aera and higher organic content of clay. At the biodegradation experiments of phenanthrene in soil slurry phase, more than 90% of initial phenanthrene adsorbed onto both sand and clay were biodegraded by phenanthrene- acclimated cultures.

소포로리피드[미생물계면활성제]의 생산과 응용 (Production and Application of Sophorolipid, A Microbial Surfactant)

  • Microbial surfactants are more effective and environmentally friendly than many synthetic surfactants. Sophorolipid, a glycolipid type microbial surfactant, is produced from C. bombiocola. Cultivation techniques to increase the productivity have been developed using various carbon sources and reactor setup, reaching its concentration upto 100-300 g/L. Due to its high productivity and non-toxicity, sophorolipid became one of the most promising alternative to synthetic surfactants. Fermentative production of sophorolipid depends primarily on the carbon sources, such as glucose and vegetable oils, and nitrogen sources. Chemical modification of the sophorolipid produces various derivative with different physical properties including hydrophile-liphophilie balance(HLB), emulsion formation, surface tension and dispersing ability. Commercial potentials of sophorolipid in the cosmetic, health care and environment clean-up industries have been discussed.

Isolation, Characterization, and Investigation of Surface and Hemolytic Activities of a Lipopeptide Biosurfactant Produced by Bacillus subtilis ATCC 6633

  • Bacillus subtilis ATCC 6633 was grown in BHIB medium supplemented with $Mn^{2+}$ for 96 h at $37^{\circ}C$ in a shaker incubator. After removing the microbial biomass, a lipopeptide biosurfactant was extracted from the supernatant. Its structure was established by chemical and spectroscopy methods. The structure was confirmed by physical properties, such as Hydrophile-Lipophile Balance (HLB), surface activity and erythrocyte hemolytic capacity. The critical micelle concentration (cmc) and erythrocyte hemolytic capacity of the biosurfactant were compared to those of surfactants such as SDS, BC (benzalkonium chloride), TTAB (tetradecyltrimethylammonium bromide) and HTAB (hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide). The maximum hemolytic effect for all surfactants mentioned was observed at concentrations above cmc. The maximum hemolytic effect of synthetic surfactants was more than that of the biosurfactant produced by B. subtilis ATCC 6633. Therefore, biosurfactant would be considered a suitable surface-active agent due to low toxicity to the membrane.

  • Chlorsulfuron (chemical name : 2-Chloro-N-(4-methoxy-6-methyl-1,3,5-triazin-2-yl)-aminocarbonyl-benzenesulfonamide) is a herbicidally active ingredient which shows effect against susceptible weeds already at such low rates like 5-20g active ingredient per hectare. In the here reported trials metabolism in several sensitive cultivated plants and weeds have been analysed using ^{14}C-labelled active ingredient. The uptake of chlorsulfuron by leaves or the root system is good in all plants species, and translocation takes place either symplasmatically or apoplasmatically. Metabolism takes place in all investigated plant species by development of hydrophile suhstances in roots and shoots. Decomposition of chlorsulfuron in roots and shoots of tolerant species (Triticum aestivum and Hordeum vulgare) to polare substances takes place quantitatively faster and quicker than in susceptible species (Beta vulgaris and Matricaria chamomilla).

투과증발막용 PVA 제조특성 (Characteristics of PVA for pervaporation membrane)

  • 투과증발은 저 에너지 분리기술로서 공비혼합물의 분리 및 유기화화물을 선택적으로 분리하는 공정에 활용되고 있다. 투과증발공정을 위한 막으로 쓰이는 대표적인 고분자 재료인 친수성 고분자 PVA(Poly(vinyl alcohol)는 하이드로실 그룹을 포함하고 있어 물에 대한 선택도가 뛰어난 장점을 가지고 있다. 그러나 PVA는 물에 대한 친화력이 높아 투과증발막으로 적용하기 위해서는 내수성을 향상시키기 위하여 가교시킨후 투과증발막으로 사용가능하다. 본 연구에서는 PVA 분리막을 투과증발막으로 적용하기 위하여 PVA를 전기방사에 의해 나노섬유로 제조하고 제조된 나노섬유가 수용액에서 내수성을 갖게 하기 위해 10-70%의 KOH수용액에 가교화 하여 특성을 알아보았다.
