  • Today it becomes a serious problem to exhaustion of a fossil fuel and air pollution by exhaust gases from road vehicles for environment preservation. To solve this problem, the developments of a hybrid vehicle have been processed for the purpose of reducing pollution and energy-savings.   • The loads exerted on electro-hydraulic servo system are classified into inertial, viscous, and spring load. The additional load called disturbances is also exerted on system but is generally not modeled. To deal with these kinds of loads, it is necessary to maintain the continuous signal transfer, so we can construct compensator to satisfy control specifications using feedback signal such as displacement, velocity, acceleration and pressure known as state variables. In case of controlling the speed of hydraulic motor, we must keep up robust performance for the various loads and disturbances acted on the system. However, the load flow rate in the valve is characterized by nonlinearity so that traditional theory of linear control could not be expected to give the desired performance. In this paper, it is shown that speed controller of hydraulic motor gives a good command following and disturbance rejection performance by applying sliding mode theory as a way of robust control to the nonlinearity, variation of loads and disturbances.

  • This paper presents an energy saving hydrostatic pressure exchanger for sea water desalination equipment. In a reverse osmosis(RO) system for desalinating sea water, more than 70 percent of the supplied sea water, brines which were impassable through RO membrane are bypassed, resulting in high energy losses. In this paper, a hydrostatic pressure exchanger consisting of an embedded water hydraulic piston motor and a water hydraulic piston pump was proposed and investigated in order to recover the energy of the bypassed brines. The pressurized brines are supplied to the embedded water hydraulic piston motor as power sources and the water hydraulic piston pump is driven by the output torque of the embedded water hydraulic piston motor as well as electric motor. Consequently, the energy of the bypassed brines can be recovered. To examine the electric energy saving characteristics of the hydrostatic pressure exchanger, a simulation model was constructed using commercial software and experiments were conducted. Through the results of simulation and experiment, the feasibility of the electric energy saving effect of the proposed hydrostatic pressure exchanger was investigated.

  • It is strongly requested to reduce fuel consumption because of high oil price and exhaust gases of road vehicles for environmental preservation. To solve these problems, several types of hybrid vehicles have been developed. Among them, flywheel hybrid vehicle using variable displacement pump/motor was already proposed as one of the feasible hybrid systems in place of hybrid vehicle by the conventional storage battery. The proposed flywheel hybrid vehicle is to keep constant pressure of high pressure line by the control of swash plate angle of flywheel pump/motor as pressure compensator. The efficiency of the overall system depends severely on the efficiency of hydraulic pump/motor in the energy saving hydraulic control system by simulation. According to the control methods of swash plate angle of piston pump/motor, there remain several problems to be solved. In this paper, experimental setup for energy saving is fabricated and the efficiency of energy saving is investigated by experiments with respect to various experimental conditions.

  • In this research, we are trying to research about hydraulic system design and vehicle dynamic modeling far the development of the tire roller. The reason why we would like develop it is that tire roller is one of the most useful machine for the road construction site and application other construction equipments. Here, we conceptualize the new hydraulic system and derive the equations of motion fur dynamic analysis and also investigate system modeling by using a DAQ board. We design the hydraulic circuit of steering and traction mechanism system. This design can be used to create virtual prototypes of construction equipment. So, we studied tire roller to integrate development technology. In system analysis, we formulate hydraulic traction system model and hydraulic steering system model. Also, we integrate DAQ system to acquire experimental results in real tire roller equipment.

  • This study describes a hydraulic fluid property compensator under the various operating conditions. Because hydraulic fluid systems have much more excellent features than other control systems, they are used in many fields. However, the characteristics of hydraulic fluid are changed due to various operating conditions. This phenomenon is called uncertainty. Especially, bulk modulus is considered as the most dominant parameter in this study. Under the wide range of temperature and pressure, bulk modulus is changed. In order to overcome the uncertainty, $H_{\infty}$ technique will be used for this study. Spectral factorization, model-matching problem and controller parametrization are also applied to achieve the desired robust control action. Designed controller using the $H_{\infty}$ technique, is adopted for the hydraulic fluid valve-motor system.

  • This test was performed on the hydraulic automatic gauge control(AGC) system of adaptive mass flow method. Fundamental purpose of this study are performance evaluation of this AGC system under the actual rolling condition. It was concluded that the response of AGC system depends on the dynamic characteristics of a reel motor or roll position. The test results are as follows : 1) The control method of reel motor current is better than than of the roll position as AGC system. 2) The more steel strip thickness of delivery side is thick, the larger the gauge deviation is large, and the more it is thin, the larger the gauge deviation rate is large. 3) Because the gauge deviation is large at acceleration and deceleration speed than steady speed, so AGC system is better to adopt over 50m/min. By applying this AGC system, not only the accurary in strip thickness were improved but also productivity was improved dramatically.
