  • As a result of measuring the compressive strength and semi-adiabatic temperature rise of the mixed mortar, it was confirmed that the mortar mixed with the hydration heat reducing material is effective. On the other hand, the compressive strength showed similar strength to that of moderate heat Portland cement until the age 7 days, but after that, the tendency of the strength development to be delayed was confirmed.

  • In this study, the field applicability on reducing the heat of hydration of mass concrete by using the hydration heat difference method is analyzed with the following summary. As a result of applying the hydration heat difference method by using low heating combination, the temperature difference between the central part and the surface part of mass material was reduced, and as a result of visual observation, there was no showing of cracks by the hydration heat on the upper surface part. Therefore, the cracking index of the field to apply this method was shown to be approximately 1.57 with very little crack occurrence probability of less than 3%.

  • The unique technology was developed to control the hydration heat of mass concrete by adding the Phase Change Material(PCM) to concrete. The PCM was designed to liquefy at 60 degrees and its size was limited under $10{\sim}30$ micro meters to be put in pores and to have no effect on compressive strength. In the hydration heat test, center temperature of the PCM specimen was reduced by 10 degrees without any difference in the strength. Even in the adiabatic temperature rise test, the final adiabatic temperature rise amount was reduced as much as 25% in comparison with the standard value in Korean Concrete Standard Specification.

  • In this study, as part of the foundation for advancing the material compounding aspect to reduce hydration heat cracks in the mat foundation on which the mass concrete is constructed, the degree of concrete varieties of cement is used. The setting time was measured and comparative analysis was performed. Results It was confirmed that the concrete using LHC was more effective than the concrete using OPC in reducing the use of SP, the calorific value of the concrete was low, and it was more effective in preventing cracks. It is also terminated after 10 hours and it is determined that the use of LHC can reduce the cracks caused by the heat of hydration of the mat foundation.

  • The main disadvantage of rapid setting concrete is the occurrence of cracking because of fast hydration reaction due to high thermal expansion and shrinkage. However, if the fly ash is used in concrete, it is possible to prevent cracking since the hydration heat can be decreased. Although Very-Early Strength-Latex Modified Concrete(VES-LMC) is an excellent material, occurrence of cracking has been reported because of high hydration heat. In the present study, new method which can apply the fly ash to the VES-LMC was developed. Research for the new method to improve the safety for the cracking was conducted. Safety was confirmed by reducing the shrinkage and hydration heat in the condition of overcoming the low early-age strength. Detailed conclusions are follows. Early-age compressive strength was decreased a little with increase of UFFA content. However, 28-d compressive strength was statistically insignificant regardless of UFFA contents. If the UFFA is replaced 15% to 20% of unit cement weight in concrete, maximum shrinkage can be reduced up to 43% to 47%. Usage of UFFA in VES-LMC guarantees the safety for cracking since it is very effective to control of early-age shrinkage.
