In this study, the effect of superplasticizers on the dispersibility and hydration properties of cement with silica fume were investigated. Superplasticizers are used Naphthalene type, Ligno-sulfate type and polycarboxylate type. Compared with plastic viscosity of cement paste without superplasticizers(Plain), plastic viscosity of cement paste with superplasticizers are reduced and yield stress of cement pastes with each superplasticizer is increased rather than Plain. And then, plastic viscosity of cement paste with Naphthalene type superplasticizer was the least of all types. Compared with other two types, setting and hydration of cement paste with Polycarboxylate type(PC) superplasticizer is very fast. At compressive strength after 3-day, PC is higher than other two types, But, compressive strength of after 7-day and 28-day, PC is smaller than other two types.
In this study, as a material used to replace silica fumes for high strength concrete, nano-silica compound with organic functional group for dispersion and with inorganic silica group that can cause a pozzolan reaction is synthesized, These nano silica compound is divided into IC, which is nano size $SiO_2$ with irregularly combined hydroxyl group and carboxyl group, and RC, which is nano size $SiO_2$ with regularly combined hydroxyl group and carboxyl group. The effects of these nano silica compound on the hydration of cement are reviewed. As a result, all of synthesized nano-silica compounds have excellent dispersion on the cement flow, we think that dispersion property is the effect of air entraining by synthesized nano-silica compounds. The result of the microstructure observation showed that the particle size of the synthesized nano-silica is smaller than silica fume and spread evenly among the cement particles. In initial The phenomenon of strength decreasing occurred due to delayed hydration reaction by the synthesized nano-silica with carboxyl(-COOH) and hydroxyl(-OH) functional group.

Lately, massive concrete structures are increasingly built. Mass concrete structures are cast in many stages with construction joints. Individually constructed segment exhibit different heat source properpies and time dependent properties. As such construction stages must be incorporated in a heat of hydration analysis model to truly reflect a real construction process. Thermal stress analysis is conducted to find the way of controlling the thermal crack of pier footing mat in this paper. The footing mat model fur the analysis is $12m\times14m$ area and 3m height. This study show the process of construction stage and analyzes the results for a foundation structure constructed in 2 stage pours.

Low heat concrete using strontium hydroxide based latent heat material was manufactured in ready-mixed concrete batcher plant and its fundamental properties were tested. As a result of B/P test, its applicability to the construction site was verified. After B/P test, low heat concrete using strontium hydroxide based latent heat material was applied to the real construction site of bridge footing. Through the analysis and the actual measurement of the hydration heat of the concrete footing, the reduction effect of hydration heat and thermal crack was confirmed.
Calcium aluminosulfate (3CaO.3Al$_2$O$_3$.CaSO$_4$or $C_4$A$_3$S) was prepared by chemical synthesis from the nitrate salts and aluminum sulfate. $C_4$A$_3$S was the main phase after calcination at 110$0^{\circ}C$. The specific surface areas after calcination at 110$0^{\circ}C$ and 130$0^{\circ}C$ were about 2.5 and 1.0 $m^2$/g, respectively. Hydration was investigated by XRD, DSC, SEM, EDS, conduction calorimetry and analysis of the liquid phase. Calorimetry showed that the induction period was longer than that of a sample prepared by conventional solid state sintering and this was attributed to the formation of amorphous coatings in abundance of $Al_2$O$_3$ and SO$_3$. Crystalline hydration products, principally calcium monosulfoaluminate hydrate and Al(OH)$_3$, appeared subsequently.

Large area members such as foundation concrete of underground structures in power plants have an effect on structural stability and durability of the structure due to danger of crack occurrence and shrinkage crack that occur owing to the difference of temperature by heat of hydration between inside and outside of the members at initial age. And a construction for waterproofness is performed additionally to protect marine structures from osmosis of seawater because the structures adjoin below the surface of sea. So, if a rise of the heat of hydration, crack, and corrosion of bars are controled effectively using a composite such as fluosilicate salt in concrete production process of a initial construction, expenses are cut down and construction hours are reduced by securing durability through improvement of watertightness. The property tests of adiabatic temperature by hydration are carried out at initial age about standard concrete and test concrete using a fluosilicate salt composite to evaluate an effect on improvement of watertightness for concrete structures in this study. And the experiments such as a permeability test of hardened concrete, a water absorption test, a compression strength test and a elongation test are carried out and the results from these are described.
The concrete quality relies on general factors like preparation technique, uniformity of the compaction, amount and appropriateness of the additives. The current article investigates the impact of a well knows amino acid, L-arginine as an additive on water requirements, setting durations and characterization of various cement samples. Compressive strength tests of reference and L-arginine added cements at age of 2, 7 and 28 days were carried out according to TS-EN 196-1. Samples were blended by incorporating various amounts of L-arginine (25 ppm, 50 ppm and 75 ppm) in the cement water mixture which were tested with Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermo-gravimetric analysis (TG), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and the energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) on the 28th day. Results revealed that L-arginine does not affect the setting time, volume expansion of cement and water demands negatively; rather it imparts enhanced sustainability to the samples. It was determined that the highest value belonged to the 75L mortar with an increase of 2.6% compared to the reference sample when the compressive strengths of all mortars were compared on the 28th day. Besides, it has been observed that the development of calcium silicate hydrate or C-S-H gel, calcium hydroxide or CH and other hydrated products are associated with each other. L-arginine definitely has a contribution in the consumption of CH formed in the hydration process.

To predict autogenous shrinkage of concrete, unsaturated pore compensation factor could be calculated by experiments of autogenous shrinkage of cement paste on the assumption that the differences between degree of hydration and strain rate of autogenous shrinkage are unsaturated pore formation rate. Applying unsaturated pore compensation factor on modified Pickket model considering contribution factor and non-contribution factor to autogenous shrinkage of concrete, experimental data and existing model were compared. From the results modified Pickket model was verified to present similar tendency between Tazawa model and experimental data, but CEB-FIP model might be corrected because this model uses ultimate autogenous shrinkage underestimated and the same autogenous time function of concrete material properties considering only compressive strength.
The hydration effect on the intrinsic magnetism of natural salmon double-strand DNA was explored using electron magnetic resonance (EMR) spectroscopy and superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) magnetic measurements. We learned from this study that the magnetic properties of DNA are roughly classified into two distinct groups depending on their water content: One group is of higher water content in the range of 2.6-24 water molecules per nucleotide (wpn), where all the EMR parameters and SQUID susceptibilities are dominated by spin species experiencing quasi one-dimensional diffusive motion and are independent of the water content. The other group is of lower water content in the range of 1.4-0.5 wpn. In this group, the magnetic properties are most probably dominated by cyclotron motion of spin species along the helical π -way, which is possible when the momentum scattering time (${\tau}_k$) is long enough not only to satisfy the cyclotron resonance condition (${\omega}_c{\tau}_k$ > 1) but also to induce a constructive interference between the neighboring double helices. The same effect is reflected in the S-shaped magnetization-magnetic field strength (M-H) curves superimposed with the linear background obtained by SQUID measurements, which leads to larger susceptibilities at 1000 G when compared with the values at 10,000 G. In particular, we propose that the spin-orbital coupling and Faraday's mutual inductive effect can be utilized to interpret the dimensional crossover of spin motions from quasi 1D in the hydrate state to 3D in the dry state of dsDNA.

The present study investigates the chemical reaction and performance of ternary blended binders by mixing ferronickel slag. Cement was replaced using ground granulated blast furnace slag and ferronickel slag, combined up to 50% of the replacement rate. The blended cements were tested by setting times, length change, compressive strength at 1, 3, 7, 28 days. X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscope were conducted for detecting hydration products while the MIP and microhydation heat were used for examining morphological characteristics. The results showed that by adding ferronickel slag, Pozzolanic reaction occurred, forming a dense pore structure and the effect of reducing hydration heat and dry shrinkage was also found. The compressive strength at 28 days was lower than that of 100% OPC control specimen (OSP0), but ternary blended cements showed no significant difference compared to binary blended (OSP50). If the optimal mix is derived later and used for the purpose, the potential for use as a cement binder is expected.
