Music brings pleasure and relaxation to people. Therefore, it is necessary to classify musical genres based on scenes. Identifying favorite musical genres from massive music data is a time-consuming and laborious task. Recent studies have suggested that machine learning algorithms are effective in distinguishing between various musical genres. However, meeting the actual requirements in terms of accuracy or timeliness is challenging. In this study, a hybrid machine learning model that combines a deep residual auto-encoder (DRAE) and support vector machine (SVM) for musical genre recognition was proposed. Eight manually extracted features from the Mel-frequency cepstral coefficients (MFCC) were employed in the preprocessing stage as the hybrid music data source. During the training stage, DRAE was employed to extract feature maps, which were then used as input for the SVM classifier. The experimental results indicated that this method achieved a 91.54% F1-score and 91.58% top-1 accuracy, outperforming existing approaches. This novel approach leverages deep architecture and conventional machine learning algorithms and provides a new horizon for musical genre classification tasks.

Recently, attacks on the network environment have been rapidly escalating and intelligent. Thus, the signature-based network intrusion detection system is becoming clear about its limitations. To solve these problems, research on machine learning-based intrusion detection systems is being conducted in many ways, but two problems are encountered to use machine learning for intrusion detection. The first is to find important features associated with learning for real-time detection, and the second is the imbalance of data used in learning. This problem is fatal because the performance of machine learning algorithms is data-dependent. In this paper, we propose the HSF-DNN, a network intrusion detection model based on a deep neural network to solve the problems presented above. The proposed HFS-DNN was learned through the NSL-KDD data set and performs performance comparisons with existing classification models. Experiments have confirmed that the proposed Hybrid Feature Selection algorithm does not degrade performance, and in an experiment between learning models that solved the imbalance problem, the model proposed in this paper showed the best performance.
This study is directed toward the design of a hybrid algorithm for syllable-based Korean POS tagging. Previous syllable-based works on Korean POS tagging have relied on a sequence labeling method and mostly used only a machine learning method. We present a new algorithm integrating a machine learning method and a pre-analyzed dictionary. We used a Sejong tagged corpus for training and evaluation. While the machine learning engine achieved eojeol precision of 0.964, the proposed hybrid engine achieved eojeol precision of 0.990. In a Quiz domain test, the machine learning engine and the proposed hybrid engine obtained 0.961 and 0.972, respectively. This result indicates our method to be effective for Korean POS tagging.
In the past, there have been various studies on predicting the stock market by machine learning techniques using stock price data and financial big data. As stock index ETFs that can be traded through HTS and MTS are created, research on predicting stock indices has recently attracted attention. In this paper, machine learning models for KOSPI's up and down predictions are implemented separately. These models are optimized through a grid search of their control parameters. In addition, a hybrid machine learning model that combines individual models is proposed to improve the precision and increase the ETF trading return. The performance of the predictiion models is evaluated by the accuracy and the precision that determines the ETF trading return. The accuracy and precision of the hybrid up prediction model are 72.1 % and 63.8 %, and those of the down prediction model are 79.8% and 64.3%. The precision of the hybrid down prediction model is improved by at least 14.3 % and at most 20.5 %. The hybrid up and down prediction models show an ETF trading return of 10.49%, and 25.91%, respectively. Trading inverse×2 and leverage ETF can increase the return by 1.5 to 2 times. Further research on a down prediction machine learning model is expected to increase the rate of return.
Wind speed forecasting is critical for a variety of engineering tasks, such as wind energy harvesting, scheduling of a wind power system, and dynamic control of structures (e.g., wind turbine, bridge, and building). Wind speed, which has characteristics of random, nonlinear and uncertainty, is difficult to forecast. Nowadays, machine learning approaches (generalized regression neural network (GRNN), back propagation neural network (BPNN), and extreme learning machine (ELM)) are widely used for wind speed forecasting. In this study, two schemes are proposed to improve the forecasting performance of machine learning approaches. One is that optimization algorithms, i.e., cross validation (CV), genetic algorithm (GA), and particle swarm optimization (PSO), are used to automatically find the optimal model parameters. The other is that the combination of different machine learning methods is proposed by finite mixture (FM) method. Specifically, CV-GRNN, GA-BPNN, PSO-ELM belong to optimization algorithm-assisted machine learning approaches, and FM is a hybrid machine learning approach consisting of GRNN, BPNN, and ELM. The effectiveness of these machine learning methods in wind speed forecasting are fully investigated by one-year field monitoring data, and their performance is comprehensively compared.

A radial basis hybrid neural network (RHNN) is presented for an on-line detection of machine condition change. Two-phase modeling by RHNN is designed for describing a machine condition process and for predicting future signal. A moving block procedure is also designed for detecting a process change. A fast on-line learning algorithm, the recursive least square estimation, is introduced. Experimental results showed the RHNN could be utilized efficiently for on-line machine condition monitoring.
With the success of the digital economy and the rapid development of its technology, network security has received increasing attention. Intrusion detection technology has always been a focus and hotspot of research. A hybrid model that combines particle swarm optimization (PSO) and kernel extreme learning machine (KELM) is presented in this work. Continuous-valued PSO and binary PSO (BPSO) are adopted together to determine the parameter combination and the feature subset. A fitness function based on the detection rate and the number of selected features is proposed. The results show that the method can simultaneously determine the parameter values and select features. Furthermore, competitive or better accuracy can be obtained using approximately one quarter of the raw input features. Experiments proved that our method is slightly better than the genetic algorithm-based KELM model.

Classification of persons wearing and not wearing face masks in images has emerged as a new computer vision problem during the COVID-19 pandemic. In order to address this problem and scale up the research in this domain, in this paper a hybrid technique by employing ResNet-101 and multi-layer perceptron (MLP) classifier has been proposed. The proposed technique is tested and validated on a self-created face masks classification dataset and a standard dataset. On self-created dataset, the proposed technique achieved a classification accuracy of 97.3%. To embrace the proposed technique, six other state-of-the-art CNN feature extractors with six other classical machine learning classifiers have been tested and compared with the proposed technique. The proposed technique achieved better classification accuracy and 1-6% higher precision, recall, and F1 score as compared to other tested deep feature extractors and machine learning classifiers.
This paper proposes a hybrid learning algorithm combined momentum and kernel-adatron for improving the performance of regression support vector machine. The momentum is utilized for high-speed convergence by restraining the oscillation in the process of converging to the optimal solution, and the kernel-adatron algorithm is also utilized for the capability by working in nonlinear feature spaces and the simple implementation. The proposed algorithm has been applied to the 1-dimension and 2-dimension nonlinear function regression problems. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm has better the learning speed and performance of the regression, in comparison with those quadratic programming and kernel-adatron algorithm.

The rapid rise of the Internet and social media has resulted in a large number of text-based reviews being placed on sites such as social media. In the age of social media, utilizing machine learning technologies to analyze the emotional context of comments aids in the understanding of QoS for any product or service. The classification and analysis of user reviews aids in the improvement of QoS. (Quality of Services). Machine Learning algorithms have evolved into a powerful tool for analyzing user sentiment. Unlike traditional categorization models, which are based on a set of rules. In sentiment categorization, Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory (BiLSTM) has shown significant results, and Convolution Neural Network (CNN) has shown promising results. Using convolutions and pooling layers, CNN can successfully extract local information. BiLSTM uses dual LSTM orientations to increase the amount of background knowledge available to deep learning models. The suggested hybrid model combines the benefits of these two deep learning-based algorithms. The data source for analysis and classification was user reviews of Indian Railway Services on Twitter. The suggested hybrid model uses the Keras Embedding technique as an input source. The suggested model takes in data and generates lower-dimensional characteristics that result in a categorization result. The suggested hybrid model's performance was compared using Keras and Word2Vec, and the proposed model showed a significant improvement in response with an accuracy of 95.19 percent.
