맞벌이부부의 직업관련변수가 결혼만족도와 삶의 질에 미치는 영향 (The Influence of Dual-Earner Couples' Job Related Variables on Marital Satisfaction and Quality of Life)

  • This study is to identify the influence of dual-earner couples' job related variables on marital satisfaction and quality of life. For the data set 228 dual-earner couples living in Pusan, Korea were chosen. The data were analyzed using M, SD, t-test, one-way ANOVA, scheffe test, and path analysis. The findings of this study are as follows; First, the level of marital satisfaction and quality of life are higher for husbands than wives. Second, for husbands, the level of marital satisfaction were differed by husbands' housework participation, husbands' support, and job satisfaction. Whereas for wives, the level of marital satisfaction were differed by husbands' house work participation, husbnand's job stressorors, and wives' employment motivation. Third, for husbands, the level of quality of life were differed by husbands' housework participation, husbands' support, job satisfaction, and husbands' job stressors. Whereas for wives, the level of quality of life were differed by income, husbands' support, job satisfaction, working hours, husbands' job stressorors, and wives' employment motivation. Fourth, for husbands, marital satisfaction, job satisfaction, and working hours have significant direct effect on quality of life. Besides, husbands' job stressors, and husbands' and husbands' housework participation, and job satisfaction are indirectly associated with quality of life.

  • This study was to examine the factors effecting the role conflicts of dual-earner couples. The sample consisted of 168 husbands and wives living in Pusan. The findings of this study were as follows; 1. Husbands' role conflicts were negatively related to cohesion wives' role conflicts were negatively related to adaptability. 2. Husbands' role conflicts were significantly affected by spouses' support time spent at work cohesion and the youngest child age. 3. Wives' role conflicts were significantly affected by spouses' support adaptability time spent at work and the degree of husbands' support, adaptability time spent at work and the degree of husbands' housework participation.

  • The purpose of the study was to preset the relationships between role conflict and psychological/physical distress of dual/earner families in Pusan. the questionnaire was composed of socio-economic status, wives' work time, spouse's emotional support scale, husbands' housework participation, role conflict scale, psychologica/physical distress scale. The major findings were as follows : 1. The level of role conflict and psychological/physical distress were higher among wives than among husbands. 2. Role conflict were the most important factor affecting the level of psychological/physical distress directly. 3. Wives' psychological/physical distress were significantly affected by role conflict and socio-economic status directly. Wives' psychological/physical distress were affected by wives' work time, husbands' emotional support, husbands' housework participation indirectly. 4. Husbands' psychological distress was significantly affected by role conflict and husbands' housework participation directly. Husbands' physical distress was significantly affected by role conflict directly. Husbands' psychological/physical distress were affected by wives' work time, wives' emotional support indirectly.

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the effects of child gender and temperament, husbands’ support, and mothers’ psychological well-being on maternal parenting behaviors toward toddlers. Mothers of 214 toddlers responded to questionnaires on the following variables: child temperament, husbands’ support, psychological wellbeing and parenting behaviors. Hierarchical regression analysis revealed that: 1) Children being negative emotionality linked with mothers’ high controlling and rejective parenting behaviors and low responsive parenting behaviors directly and indirectly via mothers’ psychological well-being; 2) Husbands’ support was linked with mothers’ low controlling and rejective behaviors through mothers’ high psychological well-being; 3) Mothers’ low psychological well-being was linked to high mothers’ controlling and rejective parenting. The results of this study underscore mothers’ psychological well-being and husbands’ parenting support in predicting mothers’positive parenting.

노년기 부부의 갈등과 생활만족도 (Marital Conflict and Life Satisfaction in Aged Couples)

  • The purposes of this study were to find the general trends of aged couples' marital conflict, life satisfaction, and to examine relationships between husbands' marital conflict, life satisfaction and those of wives, and to investigate effective variables influencing on their life satisfaction. The subjects were the 218 couples over 60 years old living in Gwangju. Trained researchers interviewed the subjects with structured questionnaires. Data were analyzed with mean, sd, Cronbach' α, paired-t test, Pearson's correlation and Hierarchical Regression using SAS program. The major findings were as follows; 1. The marital conflict scores of husbands and wives were lower than median and wives' marital conflict scores were higher than those of husbands. The average scores of life satisfaction were higher than median and Husbands achieved higher scores in life satisfaction than wives. 2. Husbands' marital conflict and life satisfaction were positively related to those of wives. 3. Husbands' life satisfaction was influenced by health, self-esteem, filial support, acquaintances' support, marital conflict. Wives' life satisfaction was influenced by income, health, marital intimacy, filial support, acquaintances' support, marital conflict. Spouses marital conflict was significantly effective variable to wives' life satisfaction, but no significant to husbands'.

부인의 정서적 지지와 남편의 결혼만족도 (Wife's Emotional Support and Husband's Marital Satisfaction)

  • In an effort to better understand the relationship between husband and wife in the family, this study investigated wife's emotional support and husband's marital satisfaction. Subjects were 232 husbands in Seoul. Results indicated that the level of wife's emotional support to their husbands and husband's marital satisfaction were generally high. And wife's emotional support to their husbands had the strongest positive effect on husband's marital satisfaction. In addition, husband's income and wife's employment were negatively related to husband's marital satisfaction. It was suggested the importance of the emotional support to their husbands had the strongest positive effect on husband's marital satisfaction. In addition, husband's income and wife's employment were negatively related to husband's marital satisfaction. It was suggested the importance of the emotional support in the spousal relationships.

남편살해 여성의 아내학대 경험에 대한 분석 (Analysis of Wife Abuse Experiences of Women Who Killed their Husbands)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between the abuse experience from husbands among women who killed their husbands and the husbands' characteristics, and the women's own characteristics consisting of the emotional climate in the family of origin, self-esteem and social support. The major findings were as follow. First, the subjects were divided into two groups according to the level of wife abuse experience: non-abuse group and abuse group. Second, in terms of the husbands' characteristics which consisted of economic capacity and alcohol problem, there were statistically significant group differences between non-abuse and abuse groups. Third, the women in the abuse group, compared to those in the non-abuse group, had a tendency to perceive that they received maltreatment, physical punishment, and indifference and rejection from their family of origin. However, there was no significant difference between the non-abuse and abuse groups in emotional support the women received from their family. Fourth, as for the women's characteristics consisting of self-esteem and social support, the women of both groups showed no significant difference in self-esteem, while the women in the abuse group perceived that they received a level of social support relatively lower than those in the non-abuse group.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the differences of mothers' parenting stress, parenting behaviors, and their children's social competence by their children's emotionality and their husband's support on parenting. The participants of this study were 72 three and four-year-old children and their mothers. The results of this study were as follows. The mothers with high-emotionality children reported higher parenting stress than ones with low-emotionality children. The mothers reported low-supporting by their husbands perceived higher parenting stress and used less warmth-encouragement than mothers reported high-supporting. The setting limit behaviors in parenting was significant different by their children's emotionality and their husbands' support on parenting. That is, only in the group of high-emotionality children, the mothers with high-supporting by their husbands used more setting limit behaviors than the ones with low-supporting. The children with mothers received low-supporting by their husbands were rated as less prosocial by their teachers than the children with mothers received high-supporting.

  • The purpose of this study was to probe the role recognition and role performance of husbands if family and to find out the variables which influence role recognition and role performance. the sample were selected from 503 husbands with children more than one living in Seoul The major findings were : 1) husbands` role recognition was relatively higher than role performance 2) Influential variables on the husbands` role recognition were the degree of home-orientedness communication-satisfaction and stage of life cycle. 3) Husbands` role performance was affected by communication-satisfaction degree of social support job satisfactions sex-role attitudes flexibility of job and jusbands` role recognition.

남녀아 어머니의 양육효능감과 사회적 지원, 스트레스 및 아동의 기질 (Parenting Self-Efficacy, Social Support, Stress, and Children's Temperament Among Korean Boy's and Girl's Mothers)

  • This study investigated the effects of mothers' perceived social support, stress, and children's temperament on parenting self-efficacy of boy's and girl's mothers among 416 Korean mothers living in Seoul, Korea. Results showed that mothers' parenting self-efficacy of boys and girls were positively related to mothers' perceived social support and children's temperament. On the other hand, parenting self-efficacy of both boys' and girls' mothers were negatively related to mothers' stress. Multiple regression indicated that mothers' perceived social support and children's temperament were the significant predictors for mothers' parenting self-efficacy of boys and girls. Husbands' support, support from social network, approach-withdrawal, and activity level-general were the significant predictors for mothers' parenting self-efficacy of boys. Husbands' support, support from social network, conflict with their children, transition of husband's job, difficulty of finance and business were the significant predictors for mothers' parenting self-efficacy of girls. Husbands' support was the strongest predicator of mothers' parenting self-efficacy of boys and girls.
