This paper attempts at analyzing the urban dynamics in Northeast Asia by looking at major forces transforming the regional structure of Northeast Asia. Trade and foreign direct invest-ment are identified as two principal channels of increasing economic interdependence in the region. In addition, macro development strategy and infrastructure policy are another set of determining factors for changes in the regional structure of Northeast Asia. To examine the role of cities and inter-city linkages, the paper first tries to identify major urban centers and urban hierarchy in Northeast Asia. Secondly, it examines the prospects for inter-city network formation. Against these anticipated changes in the regional structure and inter-city networks in Northeast Asia, the paper discusses about the future of Korea as well as the role of Koran cities in the regional economy of Northeast Asia.

The ecology of house swallow is closely related to the humans life because their life depend on the human settlements conditions and environments. 30 years ago house swallows are very common at the country side, but recently they are very rare. Almost the number of house swallows decrease as 1 of hundredth during 20 years. Why this dramatic population decrease are happening in the ecology of house swallow? The Population size impacted by many factors such as nesting, breeding, feeding, returning. The objective of this paper is to analyse the population dynamics of the ecology of House Swallow. This paper focuses on the important ecological changes-nests, foods, and return rates from wintering area-associated with recent country side development. In this paper, we explore the feedback loops of population dynamics and simulate the policy scenario model.

The objective of this study was to investigate changes in housing quality and residential satisfaction among the New Town movers. Numerous literatures pertaning to the subject were thoroughly reviewed, and a set of hypotheses was drawn therefrom. Methodology applied to the study included bivariate and multivariate analyses for both derivation of descriptive statistics and hypotheses testing. SPSS PC+ for window(version 6.2) was used to analyze the data collected by Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements(KRIHS) in 1993. The major findings are highlited as follows : 1) Regardless of the household income level and other characteristics housing quality has improved substantially by moving to new towns. 2) The level of residential satisfaction is increased as a result of moving to new towns. 3) Upward changes in housing quality strongly influence the change in residential satisfaction. Both variables to be highly correlated. 4) These most satisfied residents are those who moved to the large size of dwellings and they are mostly high income families.

Beijing Chuan Di Xia can be traced back to Ming and Qing Dynasties. It is located beside the old post way in the west of Beijing. At present, there are more than seventy units of traditional courtyard houses of Ming and Qing Dynasties and the antique features of the surroundings still survive. The dwelling suited to the historical and regional context and the profound cultural values accumulations etc., have precious historic and cultural values. Associated with the investigation of Chuan Di Xia, the paper explores the site selection, the layout, the spatial constructiveness and the underlying consciousness of Chinese traditional dwellings, unveils the common philosophic basis of traditional dwellings and offers new though for sustainable human settlements.

The key objective of this study is to investigate the return and volatility spillover effects among stock market, credit default swap (CDS) market and foreign exchange market for three countries: Korea, the US and Japan. Using the trivariate VAR BEKK GARCH (1,1) model, the study finds that there are significant return and volatility spillover effects between the Korean CDS market and the Korean stock market. In addition, the return spillover effects from foreign exchange markets and the US stock market to the Korean stock market, and the volatility spillover effect from the Japanese stock market to the Korean stock market are both significant.

This paper describes a data fusion method for high spatial resolution satellite imagery. The pixels located around an object edge have spectral mixing because of the geometric primitive of pixel. The larger a size of pixel is, the wider an area of spectral mixing is. The intensity of pixels adjacent edges were modified by the spectral characteristics of the pixels located inside of objects. The methods developed in this study were tested using IKONOS Multispectral and Pan data of a part of Jeju-shi in Korea. The test application shows that the spectral information of the pixels adjacent edges were improved well.

In automatic map generalization, the formalization of cartographic principles is important. This study proposes and evaluates the selection method for road network generalization that analyzes existing maps using reverse engineering and formalizes the selection rules for the road network. Existing maps with a 1:5,000 scale and a 1:25,000 scale are compared, and the criteria for selection of the road network data and the relative importance of each network object are determined and analyzed using $T{\ddot{o}}pfer^{\prime}s$ Radical Law as well as the logistic regression model. The selection model derived from the analysis result is applied to the test data, and road network data for the 1:25,000 scale map are generated from the digital topographic map on a 1:5,000 scale. The selected road network is compared with the existing road network data on the 1:25,000 scale for a qualitative and quantitative evaluation. The result indicates that more than 80% of road objects are matched to existing data.

This study analyzes the impact of occupational accidents on economic growth and labor productivty losses in Korea between January 2008 and July 2018, using the Vector Error-Correction Model (VECM). According to the analysis, the occurrence of occupational accidents was revealed to reduce the number of employed workers and also hinder economic growth. This can be reinterpreted as the reduction of occupational accidents does not cause labor losses in the industry, rather may induce economic growth. Also, the findings discovered that an increase in the number of workers may lead to increase in the probability of occupational accidents in the short term. This suggests that greater number of work-related accidents may occur during the early stages- due to new employees' lack of knowledge related to safety at workplace.

The Study analyzed the effect of private education costs and housing prices on the total fertility rates in 16 metropolitan cities in Korea from 2009 to 2021, and estimated the contribution rates of each variable on the decrease in the total fertility rate. Using a dynamic panel data model considering the time series correlation of the total fertility rates, the total fertility rates for the year was positively (+) affected by the total fertility rates of the previous year, and the increase in apartment sales and Jeonse prices in the previous year reduced the total fertility rates. In addition, the increase in private education costs per capita in the previous year was analyzed to consistently reduce the total fertility rates.

도로점용공사를 비롯 각종 공사구간은 주변의 혼잡을 가중시키고 차량과 통행자들의 불편을 증가시키며 교통사고의 위험도를 증가시키는 중요한 요인이 되어 인명피해 사고가 발생하기도 한다. 또한 대형다중이용시설을 이용하기 위한 차량 및 이용자들로 인한 교통지체는 막대한 경제적 손실을 가져온다. 현재 공사장 등에 대한 교통안전체계를 위한 관련법규 제정되어 있으나 실효성 미비로 인명 사고 및 지체로 인한 경제적 손실 지속적 발생되고 있다. 이와 같은 문제점을 해결하기 위해서는 선진국에서 시행하고 있는 교통유도경비(일본), 교통통제관제 (캐나다, 미국 등)의 제도 도입은 필요한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 외국의 선진사례를 분석하여 현행 한국의 현황을 살펴보고 한국에 적합한 교통유도경비의 도입방안을 제시하는데 있다. 교통유도경비의 자격은 일정한 교육과 시험을 통과한 교통유도경비원에게 1급, 2급, 기술사를 부여하는 것이 바람직하다. 또한, 법제도를 개정하여 도로상의 공사와 혼잡한 장소 등에 있어서는 교통유도경비의 자격증을 가진 사람에 한하여 의무적으로 설치할 수 있도록 해야 할 것이다. 교육시간에 이론교육은 기본교육과 전문교육이 포함되어야 한다. 기본교육에는 법규의 이해, 직무의 이해 등이 포함되어야 하고 전문교육에서는 교통관리, 안전교육, 교통사고의 이해, 교통통제시설물의 조작, 사고시 처리방법 등을 실무교육에서는 현장에서의 교통유도업무(수신호, 안전물설치, 교통사고 처리, 응급처치 등)등이 포함된다.
