Indoor real-time positioning for multiple targets is required to realize human-robot symbiosis. This study firstly presents positioning accuracy on an autonomous mobile robot controlled by 3-D coordinates that is obtained by a real-time indoor positioning system with spread spectrum (SS) ultrasonic signals communicated by code-division multiple access. Although many positioning systems have been investigated, the positioning system with the SS ultrasonic signals can measure identified multiple 3-D positions in every 70 ms with noise tolerance and error within 100 mm. This system is also robust to occlusion and environmental changes. However, thus far, the positioning errors in an autonomous mobile robot, controlled by these systems using the SS ultrasonic signals, have not been evaluated as an experimental study. Therefore, a positioning experiment for trajectory control is conducted using an autonomous mobile robot and our positioning system. The effectiveness of this positioning method for robot self-localization is shown, from this experiment, because the average control error between the target position and the robot's position at 29 mm is obtained.

A concept hierarchy represents the knowledge with multi-level form, which is very useful to categorize, store and retrieve the data. Traditionally, a concept hierarchy has been built manually by domain experts. However, the manual construction of a concept hierarchy has caused many problems such as enormous development and maintenance costs and human errors such as inconsistency. This paper proposes the automatic creation of concept hierarchies using the predefined hypernym relation. To create the hierarchy automatically, we first eliminate the ambiguity of the senses of data values, and construct the hierarchy by grouping and leveling of the remaining senses. We use the WordNet explanations for multi-meaning word to eliminate the ambiguity and use the WordNet hypernym relations to create multi-level hierarchy structure.
The CINDER code has about 60 years of development history, and is thus one of the world's best transmutation computing codes to date. Unfortunately, it is complex and cumbersome to use. Preparing auxiliary input files for activation computation from MCNPX output and executing them using Perl script (activation script) is the first difficulty, and separation of gamma source computing script (gamma script), which analyzes the spectra files produced by CINDER code and creates source definition format for MCNPX code, is the second difficulty. In addition, for highly nonlinear problems, multiple human interventions may increase the possibility of errors. Postprocessing such as making plots with large text outputs is also time consuming. One way to improve these limitations is to make a graphical user interface wrapper that includes all codes, such as MCNPX and CINDER, and all scripts with a visual C#.NET tool. The graphical user interface merges all the codes and provides easy postprocessing of graphics data and Microsoft office tools, such as Excel sheets, which make the CINDER code easy to use. This study describes the VCINDER code (with visual C#.NET) and gives a typical application example.

In this paper, human heartbeat detection using signal reflected from the antenna which is varied reflection coefficient by near field variation of the antenna. For detection reflected signal from antenna, 20 dB directional coupler is used because of not affecting transmitting signal. Variance of reflection coefficient of dipole antenna is about 0.07 dB which is too small the distinction between heartbeat and noise. Sensitivity increasing method is applied and heartbeat is clearly detected. Due to phase and magnitude errors come from discrete value components, antenna is located some points in experiments ro find optimum sensitivity position. And providing verification of using communication signal, heartbeat detection when frequency modulated signal which have 4 MHz bandwidth is applied.

This study examines cognitive impairment, which is one of the results from social exclusion and leads to logical reasoning disorders. This study also investigate how cognitive errors called abductive inference error occur due to cognitive impairment. Present study was performed with 81 college students. Participants were randomly assigned to the group who has experienced social exclusion or to the group who has not experience the social exclusion. We analyzed how the degree of error of abductive inference differs according to the social exclusion experience. The group who has experienced social exclusion showed a higher level of abductive inference error than the group who has not experience. The abductive condition inference value of the group who has experienced social exclusion was higher in the group with the deduction condition inference value of 90% than in the group with the deduction condition inference value of 10%, and the difference was also significant. This study extended the concepts of cognitive impairments, escape theory, cognitive narrowing which are used to explain addiction behavior to human cognitive bias. Also this study confirmed that social exclusion experience increased cognitive impairment and abductive inference error. Future research directions and implications were discussed and suggested.
This study suggest a way to improve duty process of KTX(Korea Train Express) high-speed train driver. A new operating system which based on safety was introduced to operate high-speed train which travel above 300km/h on the high-speed railroad but below 200km/h on the general railroad. There were some studies on the operation of high-speed train which travel on the high-speed railroad and on the general railroad with safety. However they overlooked the elements of human errors. The duty-load of KTX train driver's 14 basic operation processes was measured using NASA-TLX and found four processes with high duty-load. In this paper, critical tasks of the high duty-load processes are determined using a questionnaire. Some suggestions which include the improvement of facilities, operating system and operating skill are proposed to lighten duty-load of the critical tasks. The validity of the proposed new task processes is demonstrated by making question to KTX train driver. To use this results cost-benefit analysis, hazards analysis etc. should be performed additionally.
The goal of this study is to find out correlation between Driver's Unsafe acts(errors and violations) and Personality types. The experiment was performed on 180 subjects, men and women between 20's and 60's having experience in driving for 6 months at least. Personality types of the subjects were classified by MBTI(Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) GS type and Driver's unsafe acts were measured by KDBQ(Korean Driver Behavior Questionnaire) based on Reason's DBQ(Driver Behavior Questionnaire). The result of experiment showed several facts about the relation. The first is that the drivers of P (Perceiving) type commit more violations and slips than drivers of J(Judging) type. The second is that in the comparison among attitude indexes(EP, EJ, IP, IJ) the drivers of EP(Extroversions - Perceiving) commit more violations than other type drivers. Finally, only men of P(Perceiving) type commits more violations than men of J(Judging). Based on these facts, it is possible to use Personality types as a device to prevent unsafe acts in various fields for driver selection and accident prevention training classified by Personality types etc.

Machine vision inspection systems have replaced human inspectors in defect inspection fields for several decades. However, the inspection results of machine vision are often affected by small changes of illumination. When small changes of illumination appear in image histograms, the influence of illumination can be decreased by transformation of the histogram. In this paper, we propose an enhanced histogram matching algorithm which corrects distorted histograms by variations of illumination. We use the resolution resizing method for an optimal matching of input and reference histograms and reduction of quantization errors from the digitizing process. The proposed algorithm aims not only for improvement of the accuracy of defect detection, but also robustness against variations of illumination in machine vision inspection. The experimental results show that the proposed method maintains uniform inspection error rates under dramatic illumination changes whereas the conventional inspection method reveals inconsistent inspection results in the same illumination conditions.

This paper presents a new subfield method that can alleviate the visual artifact called the dynamic false contour (DFC), which occurs on plasma display panels. Nothing that the DFC is caused by the difference of time intervals between the adjacent subfields, we propose a constant slope code, in which the differences are maintained to be constant. Also, we propose a subfield code that can minimize the mean absolute error, considering the trade-off between the peak magnitude of the error and its duration. We will show that the proposed subfield method maintains an adequate performance in the view point of the human visual system, since the bound of the errors increases with the gray scale.
A cDNA microarray experiment is one of the most useful high-throughput experiments in medical informatics for monitoring gene expression levels. Statistical analysis with a cDNA microarray medical data requires a normalization procedure to reduce the systematic errors that are impossible to control by the experimental conditions. Despite the variety of normalization methods, this. paper suggests a more general and synthetic normalization algorithm with a control gene set based on previous studies of normalization. Iterative normalization method was used to select and include a new control gene set among the whole genes iteratively at every step of the normalization calculation initiated with the housekeeping genes. The objective of this iterative normalization was to maintain the pattern of the original data and to keep the gene expression levels stable. Spatial plots, M&A (ratio and average values of the intensity) plots and box plots showed a convergence to zero of the mean across all genes graphically after applying our iterative normalization. The practicability of the algorithm was demonstrated by applying our method to the data for the human photo aging study.
