this study has dual purposes; one is to develope a new theoretical framework in consumer behavior area by applying the human ecological approach, and the other is to test the theory empirically area by applying the human ecological approach, and the other is to test the theory empirically by examining prepurchasing behavior of housing. Research methods adopted in this study are library search and survey research with self-administered questionnaires. The statistical methods used in the survey research are factor analysis, chi square test, and multivariate analysis with crosstablulations. According to the human ecological approach, ecological environments are important sources of consumer needs which , in turn, are satisfied by purchasing behavior in the market. Within this theoretical framework, consumers con improve the quality to life by perceving clearly what their needs are thereby making the most possible efficient purchasing decision making. The major findings of the empirical research on the basis of the theoretical framework are as follows; 1) Housing needs significantly vary with different ecological environment. 2) consumer information search behavior does not differ significantly by housing needs. 3) Housing needs turn out to be an intervening variable between ecological environments and consumer information search behavior. the results of this study show that the human ecological approach is useful in consumer behavior studies. The empirical result that consumer needs are not significantly satisfied by consumer behavior suggests a now direction in consumer education.

This paper discussed community ecological approach for Environmentally Sound and Sustainable Development(ESSD) and Sustainable Society(SS). Community ecology is composed of nature, environment and diverse species and is dynamic and sustainable system by interaction among those components. It is required long-term, integrating and eco-centric stances to achieve ESSD and SS such as eco-city and eco-village movements. This is integrated and complicated perspective beyond traditional dichotomy between human and environment. Community ecological perspective directs people toward ecological society system which creates and maintains adaptable life style under ecological situation in community. Building up eco-parts, eco-cites, eco-villages are crucial movements for promoting human's environmental living standards. These sustainable community movements require people to change their values and life styles suitable for their SS. It is required integrated and balanced perspective and participating endeavor of residents to maintain SS.

The article demonstrates a method of studying human health and nutrition by applying a multi-disciplinary approach and examines how humans developed and survived by adjusting to their environment. This process involves physiological, cultural and genetic adaptation both independently and interactively. This study postulates that a sound human health may be the result of balance between nutrition and environmental conditions. It is noted that there is a positive correlation between malaria and fava bean intake, and sickle cell anemia and cassava intake. It is also suggested that the difference in disease structure in soybean and non-soybean consumption cultures can be explained by an ecological approach to studying nutrition. This study further suggest that the relationship between nutrition and socio-cultural system. epidmiological study of nutrition and cultural environment nutrition and conceptual characteristics, nutrition and food intake pattern, nutrition and health sociological functions and the physioloical, cultural and genetic adaptation can all be stimulating research subjects to be studied form and ecological point of view. This article also includes the results from a series of ecological studies conducted by the author investigating the relationship between nutritional status of Korean breast-feeding mothers and the composition of the human milk and also the Vitamin D status of Korean and their lifestyle. The ideal housing in the 21st century means that it can provide people with the balanced life between nature and human life, while is possible through the systematic harmony of nature, environment, and human. As our society increasingly pays attention to the importance of environment, environment friendly houses and ecological dwellings are being built. If we add our own cultural environment attribute and historical identity to the ecological housing, we can create the most unique Korean ecological architecture. This study examines ecological interior expression methods from the traditional housing architecture which started out of nature, in order to find out an ecological approach in the interior design of the dwelling space. Based upon this examination, it mainly focuses on how these methods can be applied to a modern housing architecture. From an ecological perspective, the traditional house interior has two distinct characteristics; nature friendly and human friendly, because it considered nature and human harmoniously. The interior of the traditional housing can be divided into three types; nature friendly, health friendly, and human friendly. Finally, this study investigates the ecological value of the three types and application of them to modern housing. It will help to find out the harmonious way of building a house harmonizing both nature and human. Especially, considering that the nature is being destructed and the health of human is deteriorating due to the destruction of the nature, this study will show a feasible alternative to build the most Korean style of environmental architecture.

This paper attempts to prove the possibility that Women in Love can be approached by ecological thought. It is necessary to research the family of Lawrence's childhood, the environmental surroundings and Lawrence's viewpoint of nature to prove the possibility. The most urgent problem for us in the modern world is the ecological crisis due to the destructive aspect of modern civilization. This Lawrence's attitude toward the modern civilization is clearly reflected in Women in Love. Lawrence diagnoses the destructive aspects of modern civilization and the human relationship through Gerald, Gudrun, Hermione and Loerke who represent the industrial society and suggests the apocalyptic vision to the human being from the nature. Lawrence thinks that we must restore the animated power of life to revive the modern man who lost the vital power of life. Birkin and Ursula represent this thought of Lawrence and they accomplish the idealistic human relationship based upon the true love and the real life. They do not have the posture of the binomial contrast that separates the human being from the nature, This posture of the binominal brings to one of the causes of the present ecological crisis. As a result, we can say that Women in Love is the novel that belongs to the category of literary ecology. And we can regard that Lawrence previously presented the paradigm that ecologist advocates.

To understand meaning of ecosytem by considering the theory of ecology for ecological approach of the environmental design and to grope for possibility of applying environmental design by considering what to analyze and how to differenciate concept for ecological environmental plan from the mechanical design. Through this study it was realized that the ecological design starts from the recognistion of seeing the humans and nature as a one and form being aware of signficance of all the living things in our surrounding environment.

Today most landscape architects and scientists have approached ecological restoration, only in a scientific way or on aesthetic way so as to deal with the complex phenomena of a site easily. However, 'the real world' as well as 'ecological nature' as it is can not be totally dealt by the scientific approach which is quantitative and reductioinal. ince a site to be restored has the character of 'place' where man 'dwells', it must be designed and built as total phenomenon. In terms of Martin Heidegger's interpretation of "revealing", we might find out how to overcome the dilemma of the 'modern technology'. To the point of the phenomenological integrity between 'modern technology' and 'art', we can reveal 'sense of place' on a site. The phenomenological approach, which is related to the characteristics of the site, implies something more than scientific since it focuses on the development of site-specific data without wasting extra data for ecological restoration. Bodily experiencing a site with the perception, man discloses the site's nature and he also analyzes it in a scientific way. Therefore the phenomenological approach might be a clue of constructing ecological restoration as well as construing the identity of landscape architecture.

Various methodologies have been proposed in discussions of sustainability to meet the needs and sustenance of both civilization and the ecosystem. Among them, the modern concept of biomimicry is emerging as a way to meet both the concepts of sustainable 'development' and 'society', due to its philosophical position encompassing the human-centered world view and the non-human-centered view of ecocentrism. Therefore, in the field of design in which it is necessary to take responsibility for environmental and social problems, this could be a good way to solve these issues. Biomimicry design can generally be divided into three stages: form, function, and ecosystem. From the point of view of ecological sustainability, ecosystem imitation is the most advanced and appropriate design approach that can solve the problems or even prevent them. Accordingly, this study derived a biomimicry design approach in the ecosystem imitation stage based on the concepts of biomimicry, ecological sustainability, and ecological aesthetics. The detailed approaches are 'imitation of the natural providence', 'imitation of the ecosystem's creation process', and 'imitation of the ecological cycle'. This study investigated and presented cases, such as the design imitating the ecological mechanism of microorganisms and the work using mark-making based on the derived design approach, because it could be too conceptual and idealistic by itself. Through this, we explored a method of applying and visualizing the concept of biomimicry in textile design at the ecosystem imitation level and showed its feasibility, although it still has difficulties in practical use.
