The history of the APOCP/APJCP goes back to 1999 when a number of interested scientists joined together to form the organization and to launch a new journal to support cancer prevention research in the Asian-Pacific area. Since the initial Founding Conference, some six General Assemblies (GAs) and ten Regional Conferences (RCs) and Special Study Sessions have been organized. Already the decisions have been made for two further GAs and at least three RCs. As of the April issue of 2013, a total of nearly 3,700 papers have already been published in regular issues of the APJCP or special supplements. With support of the Korean National Cancer Center, housing the Chief Editorial Office, the journal is now including approximately 100 papers a month. Although it experienced a set-back by reduction in the Impact Factor (IF) from 1.29 in 2010 to 0.67 in 2011, there are good grounds to expect an improvement in 2012. However, the future of the APOCP/APJCP will continue to depend on its membership, making continuous efforts to attend our conferences and submit good quality manuscripts. It is particularly important to cite papers in the APJCP wherever possible, if the wish is for an IF commensurate with our long term aims. In that sense it is up to all authors, since the journal will continue to have a very positive ploicy towards accepting papers from all countries within the Asian-Pacific, with continue to varied levels of resources. The editorial team looks forward to your considered support. The APOCP also hopes to see you in person at future meeetings, so that you have a more active voice in deciding the best way forward in our cooperative enterprise.
This study aimed to analyze health promotion villages from the perspective of therapeutic architecture, and to provide basic information for planning relevant health facilities. On the basis of a review of previous literature, the characteristics of therapeutic architecture were classified into eight categories: safety, comfort, sociality, autonomy, openness, diversity, privacy, and natural environment. Field study and observation were performed in four health promotion villages that conduct programs for lifestyle improvement, physical fitness, and treatment; these villages were also considered to have a healthy residential environment. The researcher and three assistants visited the facilities and checked utilization of space through interviews with the staff and guided tours. Basic information about the subject facilities, such as the purpose of establishment, was gathered from websites before visits. Two of the villages examined in this study had a traditional Korean wooden structure, while the other two were reinforced concrete and masonry block structures. All the facilities emphasized the use of environmentally friendly material and harmony with nature. Each site was divided into the following areas: office, residence, health/treatment, public/rest, and outdoor. The safety standards of the healing architecture were not completely satisfactory at all facilities. In particular, it was found that they lacked adequate universal design equipment. However, the healing characteristics of autonomy and diversity were strong. With regard to autonomy, the facilities allowed visitors to select indoor-outdoor moving lines and the use of front- and backyards constructed on slopes. In addition, they were equipped with many entries, staircases, void, terraces, and crossroads. The architecture was aesthetically designed using feng shui symbolism, and visitors found the scenes depicted in various spaces in the villages to be stimulating. Besides, the facilities were constructed using natural materials, had a natural indoor environment, and provided a sense of spaciousness and flexibility.

Urban renovation projects (reconstruction and redevelopment) have a longer licensing period than general housing projects, and many consultations with the licensing authorities require expertise. Most of the members of the union do not have basic knowledge of the maintenance business, so they have a lot of authority to promote smooth business Is entrusted to the union leader. However, contrary to the original purpose entrusted by the members, it is easy to find a case where the business is suspended because the union leader is exposed to corruption for the private interests of the union, and the members' disputes could not be resolved. In order to overcome this risk, the problem of the maintenance project was found through a questionnaire survey composed of practical experts, and a solution was presented through the KCSI evaluation model. This study mentioned the necessity of a responsible CM that can make independent business decisions without interference from the union, rather than a management-type CM limited to the cooperative's work assistance. In order to promote the construction industry's national role, it was necessary to revitalize responsible CM, so six practical alternatives were proposed.

This research is focused on the 'Resident-participated Workshop' which targets the improvement of residential environment of apartment complex from the residents' point of view. The purpose of the workshop is to induce the residents interest and encourage them to participate in design process, thus, residents will be satisfied with the result with affection and achievement. This research aims the effectiveness of 'Resident-participated' design plan as a program which enables them to maintain and self manage in the long run. The object of this research was the public space within the apartment complex of Susojugong Rental Apartment Complex in Gangnam-ku, Seoul and followings are the contents; 1. Method of 'Resident-participated Workshop'. 2. Program of 'Resident-participated Workshop'. 3. Design analysis of improved apartment complex through 'Resident-participated Workshop' and selection. As a result, it was noticeable that 'Resident-participated Workshop' was an important factor in decision making of designs from the very first stage through communication. As a part of workshop program, design game used cubic models which was useful to enhance the understanding of the participants. It also induced the cubic conception so that intercommunication with the design specialists was possible. But, the development of various workshop method to increase the residents' interest and participation is necessary, especially, program development is required to change the residents' attitude towards the design plan. It is anticipated that a continuous related research is neccsary in this regard.
Since aging population in Korea is rapidly progressing, the need for improving the life quality of the elderly has been increasing. Accordingly, in order to respond in a residential environment improvement and behavior change for the elderly, architecture design and construction methods have become converted into a modular construction method and various IT systems for the elderly have been proposed. Unlike current residential design techniques for the elderly in which architectural design techniques are performed separately with IT system design, the methodology for converging architectural design techniques with IT has not been discussed and proposed. Therefore, this paper extensively studies about requirements for converging architectural design techniques with IT such as elderly behavior, residential IT Service plan factor analysis, and residential modular construction method including IT services.
In studies involving public transport, social welfare improvement is simply explained by the increase in public transport demand. However, the increase in the demand for public transport is mostly observed by the change in the frequency of public transport service, and in-vehicle crowding in public transport has not been an object of concern. This study examines and tries to reveal the cause of the changes of the social welfare and in-vehicle crowding of the changing public transport from imposing congestion pricing. We observe that congestion pricing increases in-vehicle crowding in public transport. This predictable phenomenon is more exacerbated in case of not operating bus-only lane. It should be noted that in-vehicle crowding is more increased in suburban, but in First-best toll system it tends to get worse less than it in other congestion pricing systems. We identify that the change of in-vehicle crowding is affected by the change of proximity of the housing to workplace, the number of commuting trips, and unpredictable distortion effect of the congestion charge.
The automotive vehicle is made through the following processes such as press shop, welding shop, paint shop, and general assembly. Among them, the most important process to determine the quality of the car body is the welding process. Generally, more than 400 pressed panels are welded to make BIW (Body In White) by using the RSW (Resistance Spot Welding) and GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding). Recently, as the needs of light-weight material due to the $CO_2$ emission issue and fuel efficiency, new joining technologies for aluminum, CFRP (Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic) and etc. are needed. Aluminum parts are assembled by the spot welding, clinching, and SPR (Self Piercing Rivet) and friction stir welding process. Structural adhesive boning is another main joining method for light-weight materials. For example, one piece aluminum shock absorber housing part is made by die casting process and is assembled with conventional steel part by SPR and adhesive bond. Another way to reduce the amount of the car body weight is to use AHSS (Advanced High Strength Steel) panel including hot stamping boron alloyed steel. As the new materials are introduced to car body joining, productivity and quality have become more critical. Productivity improvement technology and adaptive welding control are essential technology for the future manufacturing environment.
In the 1960s, rapid urbanization and industrialization created the social atmosphere of individualism in Korea. Individualism has weakened social ties, led to the breakdown of communities, and caused various social problems. So, the paradigm is shifting to a shared society and there are moves to seek ways to solve social problems through community. As part of the initiative, the value and importance of common space in multi-unit dwelling, the typical Korean housing type, is increasing. Thus, the purpose of this study is to identify the trends of domestic research about common space, to assess the current state of domestic academic world and explore the future plans of the common space. The content analysis method was mainly used and statistics were additionally used to analyze 172 preceding research. As a result, research on common spaces showed a steady increase to the current time. And research was being diversified in the field of publishing journals, research contents, research methods and facilities. Until now, most studies have focused on improvement of plan and the quality of common space by identifying the attitude survey, space planning, and the actual situation. Thus many more studies about proper way to operate and manage common space need to be conducted. it is considered that the common space will develop more efficiently. The study is expected to be used as groundwork for the development of the common space and serve as concrete data to show future development directions.

The purpose of this study is to systematically explain and discuss the return migration of Koreans in Central Asia to the Russian Far East. The Koreans' return migration is explained by the combination of push and pull factors inherent in the host and home countries. The structural or institutional push factors in Central Asia include the linguistic policy of a country, civil war, ethnic conflicts, while the micro ones are the Koreans' high concern of their children's education and the improvement of a socio-economic status. The macro pull factors operated in the Russian Far East are the permission to use the housing facilities and land previously controlled by military authorities and the laws of recovering the koreans' basic right and honor, while the micro ones are the networks of relatives and friends living in Central Asia and the Russian Far East. The two aspects related to the Koreans' return migration are also discussed. Firstly, the return migration of Koreans in Central Asia is interpreted as a migration of ethnic affinity. Secondly, the establishment of an autonomous district of Koreans in the Russian Far East is discussed.
There is an increasing interest in and efforts for safe residential environment from crimes nationwide. Many cities are making efforts to create safe residential environment by enacting ordinances and guidances on safe design for preventing crimes and implementing demonstration projects. In line with the trends of the times toward 'improvement of living conditions' through urban regeneration, the importance of the Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design(CPTED) has recently emerged in the field of residential housing regeneration. Indeed, the CPTED is included as essential factor in the recent deteriorated residential area regeneration related projects. In this respect, the purpose of this study is to provide the basic data on the methodology of CPTED to be applied to the regeneration of deteriorated residential area in the future. To this end, this study selected three representative CPTED projects in Busan - 'Deokpo-dong Hope and Stepping Stone Village,' 'Chilsan-dong CPTED Happiness Village' and 'Sujeong-dong Crime Prevention and Safe Village' as objects of this study and then investigated and analyzed project contents, application of CPTED strategy, subjects who are implementing projects, and the time when they implement projects as the framework of my analysis. The findings from this study are as follows: First, the projects that were largely based on hardware should be improved by including software in the future. Second, the current Step 2 should expand into Step 3 Maintenance in applying CPTED strategy. Third, it is necessary to encourage exchange and cooperation between unit projects and subjects who are operating related projects.
