Gender differences and influential factors on economic resources of single-parent households (부모의 성별에 따른 한부모가계의 경제자원 차이 및 영향 요인 분석)

  • This study aimed to investigate the levels of assets and income of male- and female-headed households. A series of analyses of data from the 2013 Korean Household Finance and Welfare Survey on the economic resources of single-parent households were conducted. One of the major findings was that in a comparison between male-headed households and female-headed households, the levels of assets and income in female-headed households were lower than those in male-headed households. The labor income in male households was almost two times higher than that in female households. Housing conditions with respect to male households were more secure and better than those in female households. The factors influencing the levels of economic resources in single-parent households varied in terms of the type of economic resources. Gender, employment status, family characteristics and household income were statistically significant factors with respect to the levels of assets in single-parent households. The level of household income was influenced by gender, education, employment status and the number of household members. The effect of employment status on housing conditions was significant.

A Study on Physical Environment of Child Care Centers for Children with Disability (장애아 보육시설의 물리적환경 실태조사)

  • Eater Seal, the child care experts, observes that children with disability significantly benefit from receiving appropriated care along side their peers. Typically developing children serve as role models from which children with disabilities team age-appropriated communications and social behavior. Therefore the children with disability can actively participate in well-designed child care settings. But unfortunately in Seoul, Korea, only 2% of children with disability are taken care of in child care centers. And even the disabled children at the child care centers are mostly mentally or emotionally disabled because the building, programs and services of the centers are restrictive to the children with severe physical disabilities. This study reviewed Korean domestic physical environment of child care centers for children with disabilities. 15 centers located in Seoul were surveyed. Our survey revealed that the accessibility to buildings is poor. There are many places with difference in height of floors. Also, there are no elevators in all buildings surveyed. Accessibility to toilet is noted as significant problem, especially wet floors in toilets. In a nursing room, a space for psychological rest and special education is needed for children with mental disability. Technical specifications on how to make buildings and facilities accessible for the children with disability should be developed. The goal of this study is to provide basic information to develop domestic design guidelines to ensure that the child care centers are safe, convenient, and usable for everyone possible.

A Study on Probability of Home-ownership over the Family Life Cycle -Case of Oaxaca City of Mexico- (가족생활주기상의 주택소유확률에 관한 연구 -멕시코 Oaxact시 의 경우를 중심으로-)

  • This study has been designed to analyze longterm trend of home-ownership probability over the family life cycle. In this study, 633 female household heads were interviewed on their critical life event such as pregnancy, birth or death of households, marriage, and residential movement between 1987 and 1990 in Oxaca, Mexico. The raw data composed of 100,000 lines were transformed into yearly segmented observation data, proposed by Allison. The results are drawn as follws: 1) There is significant effect of marriage cohort on residential mobility and home ownership: couples who married in 1960s are likely to change their residence at early stage of family life than those who married in 1940s. They also have lower probability of home ownership for 10 years after marriage than the other cohorts. 2) Over all the cohorts, it is consistent tendency that probability of home ownership continuously increases over the entire family life cycle for 40 years. 3) Of the logistic regression analysis of home ownership on household socioeconomic variables, the homeownership was positively related with age of marriage and time since marriage, and was negatively related with education of female head. Over in this study, it is proven that home owenership is ultimate goal of most families, and it is a function of family event variables.

A Study on Simulation of Daylight for Reducing Glare of the Lecture Room's Front Side in University (대학강의실 전면현휘 감소를 위한 주간채광유입 시뮬레이션에 관한 연구)

  • The University students learn their major or a general education in lecture rooms. In these days, lecturer use frequently various multimedia in lecture room. Appropriate control lighting environment in lecture room should be essential and related in efficient studying. Daylighting on front-side of lecture room will cause glare and students are hard to read contents on white-board at their seat. Therefore, in order to preventing glare we simulated daylighting of lecture room with using computer software in this study. Results from simulation and analysis as follows: The first, if students' left-side is east-oriented in lecture room, best daylighting condition about glare in lecture room. The second, architectural designers can use simulation data of daylighting or simulate data in designing university buildings with lecture rooms. Finally, if reducing size of windows (narrow and deep daylight: more closing vertically, from up to down daylighting: more closing horizontally) we will be able to reduce energy from lecture room.

Citizens' Perception on Resident Participation in Community Activities of Gwangju City (커뮤니티 활동의 주민참여에 대한 광주시민 의식 조사)

  • Citizen participation or resident participation is perceived as an effective way to correspond to the diverse urban problems, especially in the area of residential environment improvement projects and community activities. As the leading city of the Honam region and a core middle city leading the development of the southwestern region, Gwangju city is planning and under-developing new Housing Complexes and Urban Renewal Projects. The purpose of this study is to identify the perception of Gwangju citizens on resident participation in community activities to suggest diverse strategies for improving quality of citizen's life and making better living environment. For the research purpose, 1,380 questionnaires were distributed to the Gwangju citizens who live in 5 autonomous districts -Dong-gu, Seo-gu, Nam-gu, Buk-gu, and Gwangsan-gu- and 601 were used in data analysis. Although citizens in Dong-gu showed the lowest settlement consciousness, they required the highest level of need for resident self-help activities. Contrastingly, Seo-gu showed the highest level of settlement consciousness and the lowest need for resident self-help activities. Based on the results, high quality community facility should be provided to promote residential satisfaction and consciousness of residential participation and self-help activity must be improved. And also, diverse strategies for resident participation including development of resident education programs and search for regional resources should be covered in further research.

A Study on Daycare Teachers' Perceptions of Multicultural Families (보육교사의 다문화 가정 인식에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of daycare teachers' demographic variables and multicultural variables upon their perception of multicultural families. Daycare teachers' multicultural variables consist of their multicultural family-related education, their perception of single-races and multi-races persons, their acceptance of familial diversity, their cultural capability and the efficacy of multicultural teaching. In conclusion, the study findings show that the multicultural variables seem to have an influence upon teachers' perception of multicultural families. Since the teachers' perception of the multicultural family is important for the shaping of relations between teachers and children from multicultural families and between teachers and females of transnational marriage, the importance of teachers' perceptions of multicultural related variables must be recognized. Therefore, it seems to be necessary to help children from multicultural families improve their adaptability to daycare facilities and for females of transnational marriage to form mutual, cooperative relations with teachers.

EVALUATING PRODUCTIVITY-AFFECTING FACTORS ON FINISHING WORKS IN HIGH-RISE HOUSING CONSTRUCTION

  • Constructing high buildings is a global trend, and skyscrapers for residing are also increasing. But a period of works for finish construction is different depending on a company while a period of works for frame construction of skyscrapers for residing in the country is regular when considering a difference of a method of construction, and the increase of repeated construction for high buildings and number of related process for finish construction are stressing the importance of improving productivity through construction management and plan for works. Because there are many compositive factors affecting productivity other than technical factors, we should intensively study the way of improvement and prevention preferentially through analyzing factors affecting productivity. So in this study, we present important management factors for making systematic strategy and plan for improvement of productivity by finding factors affecting productivity depending on the degree of importance unifying factors affecting productivity of plan factor(internal factor of construction process) and management factor(outer factor of construction process).

  • Apartment housing in the Korean domestic construction industry has had various and high-quality finishing work since the enforcement of price deregulation in 1998. Before the enforcement of price deregulation, feasibility studies of housing projects have not had particular difficulties as uniform description of finishing work items were reflected and finishing work cost also was equalized. However, the recent distinction of finishing work based on the same floor plan brings about project cost variation, along with many effects on construction management due to project cost increment. Accordingly, this paper suggests the improved plan of cost management to control the feasibility study result consistently during the life cycle of a project through an analysis based on cost management phase due to cost blackout, appearing at the commencement of a project, cost gradation caused by high-quality finishing work item, and cost reduction due to the degradation of finishing work after analysis of current apartment construction process focused on finishing work using the IDEF process analysis technique.

Real Estate Industry in the Era of Technology 5.0

  • Purpose: This paper aims to suggest ways to apply the leading technologies of Industry 5.0 to the housing welfare field, tasks for this, and policy implications. Research design, data, and methodology: The analysis method of this study is a literature study. The analysis steps are as follows. Technology trends and characteristics of Industry 5.0 were investigated and analyzed. The following is a method of applying technology 5.0 in the industrial field. Finally, the application areas of each technology and the challenges to be solved in the process were presented. Results: The results of the analysis are 1) the accessibility and diffusion of technology. This means that all citizens have equal access to and use of the latest technology. To this end, the appropriate use of technology and the development of a user-centered interface are needed. 2) Data protection and privacy. Residential welfare-related technologies may face risks such as personal information leakage and hacking in the process of collecting and analyzing residents' data. 3) Stability, economic feasibility, and sustainability of the technology. Conclusions: The policy implications include: 1) Enhancing technology education and promotion to improve tech accessibility for groups like the low-income, rural areas, and the elderly, 2) Strengthening security policies and regulations to safeguard resident data and mitigate hacking risks, 3) Standardization of technology, 4) Investment and support in R&D.

Importance of objectives of Housing unit in Home Economics by three systems of action of Home Economics teachers in middle school (중학교 가정과 교사가 인식하는 주생활 영역의 세 행동체계별 목표 중요도)

  • The purpose of this research was to develop objectives of Housing contents in Technology$\cdot$Home Economics by three systems of action and to find out the importance of the objectives of the teachers have taught the class. The 303 teachers from 183 middle schools replied the mail questionnaire during September, 2003. The data were analyzed by SPSS/win. The 21 objectives for each system of action were developed based on the textbooks, teachers guides, and other related references. The importance of the objectives related to communicative system of action was the highest, respectively followed by the ones related to technical and emancipatory systems of action. Indoor Environment & Equipment was more likely to be important than Maintenance & Repairs as the objectives related to communicative system of action, while Usage of Living Space was less likely to be important than the other two sub-units. The importance of the objectives was somewhat differed by the general characteristics of the teachers. The older are the more important the objectives related to technical system of action. Female, Home Economics teachers, who learned philosophy of Home Economics were more likely to think than others objectives related to communicative and emancipatory systems of action to be important. This research showed the teachers' perspectives of the objectives of Housing contents were not the same among respondents and generally supported the previous results from other contents of Home Economics.
