A survey on space feature of kindergarten in Taegu city - Space usage behavior of the institutions related to child care and education ( I ) - (대구시 소재 유치원 공간에 관한 실측조사 - 아동 보육 및 교육관련 시설의 공간이용행태 ( I ) -)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the space feature of private kindergarten in Taegu city. This study was conducted by means of the observation on the equipments, the actual measurement of space of kindergarten and environment, and the questionnaire survey by the chief of kindergarten. The samples for analysis were 20 kindergartens on Taegu city. The Major findings were as follows :1) The chiefs of kindergartens were generally satisfied with the whole range of institutions and it's management.2) Generally the environmental coditions were satisfactory, but the design of the equipments had no consideration for children's body size.3) According to observation on the equipment, it was found that generally environment of kindergarten were desireable.

A Case Study on the Interior Design Remodeling of Apartment according to the Floors Space in Seoul (서울지역 아파트의 규모별 실내디자인 리모델링에 대한 심층 사례 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is providing useful information for consumer-friendly house plan by investigating remodeling apartments according to the area type and size. In order to achieve this aim, case study was applied. The case study was conducted of five small, medium, and large size apartments through depth-interviews, actual survey, and questionnaires on the remodeling behavior, interior design, and interior atmosphere. The results of the study are as follows: Structural alterations were frequent in communal area, and then in private and household areas. Changing lighting fixtures was frequent in all area types, and especially, in communal areas installing extra decoration was frequently observed. Besides, alterations of doors and window frames were carried out in communal, private, housework and service areas by using wood, aluminum sashes, double-glazing, and paint coating. Finally, in housework areas the material and color of counters were changed into wooden and achromatic.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate on what kinds of consumer confusion exist and how much confusion consumers experience during their information search process. In-depth interviews and a questionnaire survey with college students were conducted to figure out the type and the level of consumer confusion. Results showed that college students were somewhat confused when they chose information channel and when they understood and used the chosen information. It was found that confusion was due to partly because of too many information and partly because of the lack of consumer searching skill.

  • Ondol heating, a kind of radiant floor heating, is a main method used in housing units in Korea. Building energy simulation including ondol and relevant facilities has not been performed due to its complexity. For evaluating energy consumption and indoor temperature variation, a new method should be proposed. At the present work, a dynamic simulation on ondol heating was tried by combining TRNSYS and EES. Characteristic functions for a pump, hot water coils and a gas boiler were simultaneously solved by EES, and calculated flow rates and supply temperature of hot water were provided as inputs of the active layer of TYPE 56 in TRNSYS. The results by the simulation on a typical housing unit in Korea shows a good trend in a viewpoint of actual behavior of ondol heating.

  • In Korea, the rental apartments for low-income bracket have greatly been built and are being built now. But their management system is quite unstable and the residents' participation in the management is excluded throughly from the beginning. As a result, there are increasing complaints about their low quality of management as well as a self-righteous managerial behavior by the housing company. Therefore, it is required to be managed by residents in the rental apartmenr and especially the organization of management, such as decision making-executing-audition body, should be operated by the residents. To achieve this purpose, the management law should be consolidated into one and the method o imposing the expenses of repairing and maintenance should be improved by The Ministry of Construction and Transportation.

  • The purpose of this study is to provide an instrument of architectural programming in dwelling and facilities design for the mentally retarded. To do this the normal daily life activities have been analyzed and find the living characteristics who live in mental rehabilitation facilities. Generally, mentally retarded people have below IQ.75, and their normal daily life and social adjustment have some problem. Additionally, multiple disability existence and the difference of disability level have great difference in their living activities depend on person. For this research, People who live in 4 rehabilitation facilities in Daegu, Kyungbuk were investigated. It is particularly necessally space organization for sever retardation and multiple disability children, mild or moderate retardation children and adults to analyze their behavior of moving, stool, meal, and living in a group.

  • Nonlinear analysis methods are developed which will enable the reliable prediction of the dynamic behavior of the space shuttle main engine(SSME) turbopumps in the presence of bearing clearances and other local nonlinearities. A computationally efficient convolution method, based on discretized Duhamel and transition matrix integral formulations, is developed for the transient analysis. In the formulation, the coupling forces due to the onlinearities are treated as external forces acting on the coupled subsystems. Iteration is utilized to determine their magnitudes at each time increament. The method is applied to a nonlinear generic model of the high pressure oxygen turthods, the convolution approach proved to be more accurate and highly more efficient. For determining the nonlinear, steady-state periodic responses, an incremental harmonic balance(IHB) method was also developed. The method was successfully used to determine dominantly harmonic and subharmonic(subsynchronous) responses of the HPOTP generic model with bearing clearances. A reduction method similar to the impedance formulation utilized with linear systems is used to reduce the housing-totor models to their coordinates at the bearing clearances.

  • The purpose of this study was to suggest fundmental data for facilities and the design of domitory building by investigating satisfaction of residents and their demands, grasping the present situation and the problem through the present of facilities and resident's actual condition. The object of this research were facilities and students using the domitory building of five universities. To analyze the data, frequncy, percentage, mean, one-way ANOVA and duncan-test were used by running SPSS $PC^+$/ program. The major results are as follows. 1. There were differencies in the type of living space. the construction and furniture in the domitory building according to the five universities. 2. In using domitory building, five university students have significant differences. 3. There were significant differences in the satisfaction about exterior. interior and socio-psychological environment and the level of performance to the behavior.

Space Design Based on the Behavioral Characteristics of the Elderly with Dementia (치매노인의 행동특성을 고려한 공간디자인)

  • This study was intended to suggest the design guidelines of the space for the elderly with dementia. To achieve this, the behavioral characteristics of the elderly with dementia were grasped, and the design cases which were considered and reflected of the behavioral characteristics of the elderly with dementia were examined. Then, the effective space design guidelines which met the behavioral characteristcs of the elderly with dementia were suggested. The behaviors of the elderly with dementia were categorized into cognitive, emotional, and functional behavior. The positive influences of space design on dementia symptom were founded in the planned living environments, accessible and visible location of common space such as living room, soft and homelike interior finishes and lighting, and healing garden. Therefore, the space design for the elderly with dementia should be done on the basis of the dementia symptoms and healing effects.

  • This study, as a case study of four university dormitories in Gwangju, examined the situation of interior space and conducted a quantitative survey investigating importance about the interior space and assessment factors of residential environment on users. Then user satisfaction at the assessment factors of residential environment was analyzed to draw problems and explore improvement. The results showed the following problems that should be resolved: Bedrooms should increase the area of convex space; toilets and bathrooms should be changed into a cluster type at least in common use by floor; rest space should reinforce heating and cooling system; robby space should become mixed space for various user's behavior; private fitness rooms should be planned as group fitness space; private libraries should reinforce lighting facilities; and computer rooms should complement and improve HVAC.
