  • The purpose of this research is to analyze the business process in which Korea Land & Housing Corporation utilizes spatial DB of NSDI(National Spatial Data Infrastructure) for compensation service. By the analysis of spatial data connected with compensation service, the influence of the matching error among spatial data on the business process for the service is identified and it is required to draw a direction for improvement in it.

  • This paper describes how the National Statistics Office Prepared Population and Housing Census in 2005. We focus on the methods of identifying living quarters and determining the enumeration districts. In the absence of the supports of the regional administrative offices, caused by the regulation change in 1999, the NSO devised several new techniques, such as using previous census DB, administrative records, GIS, and etc.. However, not-well-organized administrative system of the regional offices, particularly in terms of the use of IT technology, becomes one of the major bottleneck for identifying living quarters. In order for better preparation of Census, we seem to concern about not only the NSO's efforts to improve survey methods, but also the administrative system of the regional offices. This may indicates that we are at the stake of moving towards a more networked administrative system beyond the present organizational boundaries.

  • Energy consumption of building is given a sizable portion in total national energy conservation. From this reason, the integrated management system of national building energy was proposed to manage energy usage and of which feasibility study was demonstrated in Seoul at 2010. Expansion of the application availability for the aforementioned system, energy policies etc. have focused on the building sectors and future uses and developments are investigated. Specially, energy consumption and building documentary DB are useful to validate energy usage for each building and define to remodelling effect before and after. Furthermore, in this study, a number of developments and applications of the system and future uses of energy usage data can be identified.

  • In March 2007, Korea's Ministry of Construction & Transportation (MOCT) established "Guidelines on the Computerization and Use of Geotechnical Investigation Results," which took effect as official instructions. The 2007 Geotechnical Information DB Construction Project is underway as a model project for a stable geotechnical information distribution system based on the MOCT guidelines, accompanied by user education on the geotechnical data distribution system. This study introduces a geotechnical data entry system characterized by the standardization of the geotechnical investigation form, the standardization of metadata for creating the geotechnical data to be distributed, and the creation of borehole space data based on the world geodetic system according to the changes in the national coordinate system, to define a unified DB structure and the items for the geotechnical data entry system and to computerize the field geotechnical investigation results using the MOCT guidelines. In addition, the present operating status of the geotechnical data entry system and entry data processing statistics are introduced through an analysis of the model project, and the problems of the project are analyzed to suggest improvements. Education on, and the implementation of, the model project for the geotechnical data entry system, which was developed via the standardization of the geotechnical investigation results form and the metadata for institutions showed that most users can use the system easily. There were problems, however, including those related to the complexity of metadata creation, partial errors in moving to the borehole data window, partial recognition errors in the installation program for different computer operating systems, etc. Especially, the individual standard form usage and the specificity of the person who enters the geotechnical information for the Korea National Housing Corporation, among the institutions under MOCT, required partial improvement of the geotechnical data entry system. The problems surfaced from this study will be promptly addressed in the operation and management of the geotechnical data DB center in 2008.

A Study on the Physical Characteristics of the Selection of Location in Yangdong Village (양동마을 택지선정의 물리적 특성에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, there is a purpose of using the GIS DB built in DEM, by analyzing the physical characteristics of the building site Yangdong village, to determine the spatial structure of the village. In order to understand the targeted spatial structure of Yangdong Village, the building site was analyzed separately by type and position. Through analysis it is clear the selection of building site relates to the slope and aspect that aquires the most solar radiation in Yangdong Village. This study shows that the amount of solar radiation in the terrain is unfavorable in parts of the village because slope and elevation affect the selection of the building site. That is, this village is confirmed to be influenced by solar radiation, according to slope and elevation, based on how the Yangdong Village is configured. And, while overcoming the adverse conditions to make the most, the village is formed according to the natural environmental conditions.

Statistical Analysis of the Structure and Performance of Fire Doors for Evacuation Space and Common Areas in Apartment Housing (공동주택 대피공간·공용부 방화문 구조 및 성능에 관한 통계적 분석)

  • Fire resistance performance and performance design of fire doors are becoming more important to prevent the spread of fire and support the rapid evacuation of apartment buildings. In this study, a database using 182 evacuation spaces and 308 common areas that passed the fire performance test was established, and fire door performance influencing factors were derived through an analysis of the structure(12 elements) of the fire door. As a result, the effects of fire-resisting filler density, adhesive, and foam gasket were confirmed for evacuation space, and the effects of fire-resisting filler, adhesive, and fire fins were confirmed for common areas. In the fire door fire resistance test, flames and cracks were analyzed as the most frequent failure factors.

  • This study aims to analyze the research trends on Smart City and to present implications to policy maker, industry professional, and researcher. Cities around globe have undergone the rapid progress in urbanization and the consequent dramatic increase in urban dwellings over the past few decades, and faced many urban problems in such areas as transportation, environment and housing. Cities around the globe are in a hurry to introduce Smart City to pursue a common goal of solving these urban problems and improving the quality of their lives. However, various conceptual approaches to smart city are causing uncertainty in setting policy goals and establishing direction for implementation. The study collected 11,527 papers titled "Smart City(cities)" from the Scopus DB and Springer DB, and then analyze research status, topic, trends based on abstracts and publication date(year) information using the LDA based Topic Modeling approaches. Research topics are classified into three categories(Services, Technologies, and User Perspective) and eight regarding topics. Out of eight topics, citizen-driven innovation is the most frequently referred. Additional topic network analysis reveals that data and privacy/security are the most prevailing topics affecting others. This study is expected to helps understand the trends of Smart City researches and predict the future researches.

Development of Geotechnical Information Input System Based on GIS on Standization of Geotechnical Investigation Result-format and Metadata (지반조사성과 양식 및 메타데이터 표준화를 통한 GIS기반의 지반정보 입력시스템 개발)

  • The MOCT(Ministry of Construction & Transportation) gave a order named as "The guideline for computerization and application of geotechnical investigation result" to an affiliated organization in March 2007. Today, pilot project of construction of geotechnical information database is in process to be stable for its system after applying this guideline, and discipline how to input investigated data for related users. We have developed standard for geotechnical investigation result-format, metadata for distribution of geotechnical information and to coordinate based on world geodetic system. Also, We had a introduce to status with respect to use the input system, collect a statistics of input contents. At a result, improvement items of input system is proposed. It was analyzed that most users put to practical use easily as a result of education for making use of on the spot of the developed GIIS. But There were problems with the GIIS as well as complexity of metadata formation, such as error of moving part of information window, and a part of recognition error of install program in accordance with computer OS circumstances. Particularly, to improve some parts of GIIS is needed, because of use of or KNHC (Korea National Housing Corporation)-specific format and difference of input process followed by MOCT's guideline. In this study, it is planning to make up for occurred problems, and improvements when operating and managing the Geotechnical Information DB center in 2008.

  • 대용량 공간DB에 저장된 자료에 대한 접근과 관리에 대한 복잡성을 해결하기 위하여 공간자료와 비공간 자료에 대한 사항들을 구축하고 활용할 필요가 있다. 이에 공간 개체의 공간적 요소와 비공간적 요소를 함께 관리하는 가설현장의 소음관리를 위한 시스템에서도 공간 개체에 대한 데이터의 모델링이 필요하다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 가설현장에서 소음에 따른 피해를 줄이기 위한 방벽 등의 설치를 위해 필요한 소음 시뮬레이션 시스템을 위한 모델링에 관해 연구한 결과를 제시한다.

Development of a Simplified Model for Estimating CO2 Emissions: Focused on Asphalt Pavement (CO2 배출량 추정을 위한 간략 모델 개발: 아스팔트 포장을 중심으로)

  • Global warming due to increased carbon dioxide is perceived as one of the factors threatening the future. Efforts are being made to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in each industry around the world. In particular, environmental loads and impacts during the life cycle of SOC structures and buildings have been quantitatively assessed through a quantitative method called Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). However, the construction sector has gone through difficulty in quantitative assessment for several reasons: 1) LCI DB is not fully established; 2) the life cycle is very long; 3) the building structures are unique. Therefore, it takes enormous effort and time to carry out LCA. Rather than estimating carbon emissions with accuracy, this study aims to present a simplified estimation model that allows owners or designers to easily estimate carbon dioxide emissions with little effort, given that rapid and rough decisions regarding environmental load reduction are to be made. This study performs the LCA using data from 25 road construction projects across the country, followed by multiple regression analyses to derive a simplified carbon estimation model (SLCA). The study also carries out a comparative analysis with values estimated by performing a typical LCA. The comparison analysis shows an error rate of less than 5% for 16 road projects.
