Aminated PONF-9-GMA ion exchange fabrics were synthesized by radiation induced graft copolymerization. Hybrid ion exchange fabrics combined with aminated PONF-g-GMA fabrics and anionic ion exchange resin were also fabricated by hot melt adhesion method and then their adsorption properties were investigated. Ion exchange capacity of the hybrid ion exchange fabrics was higher than ion exchange fabric and was lower than bead resin. The maximum value was 4.18 meq/g. Adsorption breakthrough time for vanadium of the hybrid ion exchange fabric was 550 min, which was faster than bead resin but slower than fibrous ion exchanger. The Breakthrough time of the hybrid ion exchange fabrics gets longer with increasing pH. The initial breakthrough time occurred around 400 min with increasing vanadium concentration.
In this study, fire-retardant chemicals were melt with mixed composition ratios of dibasic ammonium phosphate and each half of boric acid and borax in hot water, in which hammer-milled chips were immersed to increase swelling of waste particleboards. Also, fire-retardant treated particles from sawn lumber chip and recycled particleboard chip were composed in ratio of 70:30 in core layer to improve boards' properties. Retention ratio of fire-retardant chemicals for the particles for face layer was high due to high specific surface area, and that of sawn lumber chips was somewhat higher than that of recycled particleboard chips. The mixture of particles from sawn lumber chips and recycled PB of 70:30 in weight ratio exceeded bending strength of 100 $kgf/cm^2$. It seemed that the relatively greater portions of dibasic ammonium phosphate affected adversely to dimensional stability, however fire-retardants treatment resulted in distinct effect lowering formaldehyde emission such as $E_0$ type(0.5mg/$\ell$ or less) in KS F 3104. In fire-retardancy, the recycled boards with a mixed ratio of dibasic ammonium phosphate to boric acid borax(50:50 mixture) of 70% to 30% in weight satisfied fire-retardancy 3rd grade in KS F 2271, and also this composition from cone calorimeter test met same standard grade figuring total heat release of 4.6MJ/$m^2$.
Recently increasing attention has been focused on solid lipid nanoparticles (SLN) as a parenteral drug carrier due to its numerous advantages that can come from both polymeric particle and fat emulsions, together with the possibility of controlled release and increasing drug stability. Lipophilic drugs such as paclitaxel, cyclosporin A, and all-trans retinoic acid have been successfully entrapped in SLN but the incorporation of hydrophilic drugs in SLN is very limited because of their very low affinity to the lipid. Therefore, as a new approach to improve the loading of hydrophilic drugs, a w/o/w emulsion technique has been developed. The primary objective of the current study was to improve the loading efficiency of a model hydrophilic drug, glycine (Log P = -3.44) into SLN. The proposed preparation process is as follows: A heated aqueous phase consisting of 0.1 ml of glycine solution in water (100 mg/ml), and poloxamer 188 (5 mg) were then added to a molten oil phase containing precirol (100 mg) and lecithin (5 mg). This mixture was dispersed by sonicator, leading to a w/o emulsion. A double emulsion (w/o/w) was formed after the addition of 2% poloxamer solution to the above dispersed system. After cooling the double emulsion, solid lipid nanosuspensions were successfully formed. The lipid nanoparticles had the mean particle size of 441.25 nm, and the average zeta potential of -20.98 mV. The drug loading efficiency was measured to be 8.54% and the drug loading amount was measured to be 0.92%. The w/o/w emulsion method showed an increased loading efficiency compared to conventional o/w emulsion method.
The microstructures of finely distributed Si-phases in $\beta$-$FeSi_2$ thermoelectric matrix, were produced by heat-treating the melt-cast ingots of single $\alpha$-$Fe_2Si_5$ phase at 730~85$0^{\circ}C$ for 4~20 hours, or by resistance-hot-pressing the mechanically alloyed powders ordinarily consisting of $\varepsilon$-FeSi and Si phases at 760~85$0^{\circ}C$ for 10 minutes of composition. $(Fe_{0.98}Mn_{0.02})_xSi_2(x{\leq$}1) The size and interspacing of dispersed Si-phases were able to control within a range of 0.05~0.27$\mu\textrm{m}$ and 0.2~0.6$\mu\textrm{m}$ by variations of heat treatment temperature and sintering temperature as well as the composition. respectively. The dispersion of Si- phases was expected to be effective for the reduction of thermal conductivity responsible for the increment of thermoelectric figure of merit.

In this study, the hybrid ion exchange fibers (HIEF) were prepared by using web spraying muthod with hot melt adhesive. Characteristics of HIEF and their adsorption properties for ammonia gas were investigated. The ion exchange capacity (IEC) of HIEF was increased with increasing the resin contents and their values were higher than those of pure resin and ion exchange fabrics. The removal efficiency for ammonia gas increased with an increase in packing density of hybrid ion exchange fabrics in the column. The adsorption breakthrough time was 270 min, which was slower than those of the resin and fibers. The maximum value of adsorption for ammonia gas was 94%. The breakthrough time was also increased with increasing the concentration and flow rate of ammonia gas. The reaction constant(k) for ammonia gas was increased with increasing the concentration and flow rate of the gas, while it was decreased an the mass was increased.
The blends of Poly(lactic acid) (PLA) and Poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate) (PBAT) have been recognized as a replacement for commodity plastic films and bags in biodegradable packaging industries. The purpose of this study is to identify changes in the thermal and mechanical properties of PLA/PBAT blends with the addition of poly(ethylene oxide)(PEO). PLA (80%) and PBAT (20%) were melt mixed with 0 to 10 phr of PEO and processed using a hot press. The addition of PEO into PLA/PBAT increased the elongation at break and improved thermal stability. With PEO addition, two melting temperature (Tm) peaks of PLA/PBAT merged into one peak showing improved miscibility. The result of this study showed that the addition of PEO increased the ductility and thermal stability of PLA/PBAT blends.
Magnesium hydroxide-melamine core-shell particles were prepared through the coating of melamine monomer on the surface of magnesium hydroxide in the presence of phosphoric acid. The melamine monomer was dissolved in hot water but recrystallized on the surface of magnesium hydroxide by quenching to room temperature in the presence of phosphoric acid. The core-shell particle was applied to low-density polyethylene/ ethylene vinyl acetate (LDPE/EVA) resin by melt-compounding at $180^{\circ}C$ as flame retardant. The effect of magnesium hydroxide and melamine content has been studied on the flame retardancy of the core-shell particles in LDPE/EVA resin according to the preparation process and purity of magnesium hydroxide. Magnesium hydroxide prepared with sodium hydroxide rather than with ammonia solution revealed higher flame retardancy in core-shell particles with LDPE/EVA resin. At 50 wt% loading of flame retardant, core-shell particles revealed higher flame retardancy compared to that of the exclusive magnesium hydroxide in LDPE/EVA composite, and it was possible to satisfy the V0 grade in the UL-94 vertical test. The synergistic flame retardant effect of magnesium hydroxide and melamine core-shell particles was explained as being due to the endothermic decomposition of magnesium hydroxide and melamine, which was followed by the evolution of water from the magnesium hydroxide and porous char formation due to reactive nitrogen compounds, and carbon dioxide generated from melamine.
Polyester fabrics and knits were corona treated with different current intensity (5, 10, 15, 20 A) and feeding speed (5, 10, 15 m/min). We confirmed the surface change of polyester fabrics and knits using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray photoelectron spectrometer (XPS). And the change of physical properties through measuring the tensile strength, dry and wet bonding strength. Thermosetting reactive polyurethane hot melt adhesive was used in the adhesion of polyester fabrics and knits. Functional groups were introduced on PET fabrics and knits surface by treating the PET fabrics and knits in air atmosphere with corona discharge, and take placed unevenness, the result adhesion was improved. When consider both dry and wet bonding strength, we think that appropriate conditions in the PET fabrics corona treatment are feeding speed 10 m/min, current intensity 15 A and appropriate conditions in the mesh type PET knits corona treatment are feeding speed 10 m/min, current intensity above 10 A.

This study used general carbon fibers(CF), which can be utilized for a low voltage cable screen, as well as metal-coated carbon fibers(MCF) to make cables and analyzed the properties of electromagnetic effectiveness. Both braid CF and MCF cables with 3,000 strands, 16 spindles, and braid density of 90% or over were adopted. The tape-type MCF specimens were spread into a tape(width: 15mm) using a hot melt to make a cable. The shield effectiveness was measured up to the 1GHz range in accordance with IEC 62153-4-6; braid shielded cables featured a superior shielding effect at 63dB than tape-type shielded cables. That was because the tape-type shielded cable has relatively more gaps and holes between carbon fibers than the braid type, resulting in a more inflow or emission of electromagnetic waves. In the case of braid cables, the characteristics of their electromagnetic waves were enhanced, with higher spindles and higher conductivity of carbon fibers. The shield effectiveness of the MCF shielded cable, however, was lower than that of tin-coated one.
This research was carried out to evaluate the effect of process variables on mechanical properties of the wood fiber-thermoplastic fiber composites by turbulent air mixing method. The turbulent air mixer used in this experiment was specially designed in order to mix wood fiber and thermoplastic polypropylene or nylon 6 fiber, and was highly efficient in the mixing of relatively short plastic fiber and wood fiber in a short time without any trouble. The adequate hot - pressing temperature and time in our experimental condition were $190^{\circ}C$ and 9 minutes in 90% wood fiber - 10% polypropylene fiber composite and $220^{\circ}C$ and 9 minutes in 90% wood fiber 10% nylon 6 fiber composite. Both in the wood fiber - polypropylene fiber composite and wood fiber- nylon 6 fiber composite, the mechanical properties improved with the increase of density. Statistically, the density of composite appeared to function as the most significant factor in mechanical properties. Within the 5~15% composition ratios of polypropylene or nylon 6 fiber to wood fiber, the composition ratio showed no significant effect on the mechanical properties. Bending and tensile strength of composite, however, slightly increased with the increase of synthetic fiber content. The increase of mat moisture content showed no significant improvement of mechanical properties both in wood fiber - polypropylene fiber composite and wood fiber nylon 6 fiber composite. Wood fiber - nylon 6 fiber composite was superior in th mechanical strength to wood fiber-polypropylene fiber composite, which may be related to higher melt flow index of nylon 6 fiber(22g/10min) than of polypropylene fiber(4.3g/10min).
