NAND Flash memory has been growing popular storage device for the last years because of its low power consumption, fast access speed, shock resistance and light weight properties. However, it has the distinct characteristics such as erase-before-write architecture, asymmetric read/write/erase speed, and the limitation on the number of erasure per block. Due to these limitations, various Flash Translation Layers (FTLs) have been proposed to effectively use NAND flash memory. The systems that adopted the conventional FTL may result in severe performance degradation by the hot data which are frequently requested data for overwrite in the same logical address. In this paper, we propose a novel FTL algorithm called Adaptive Flash Translation Layer (AFTL) which uses sector mapping method for hot data and log-based block mapping method for cold data. Our system removes the redundant write operations and the erase operations by the separating hot data from cold data. Moreover, the read performance is enhanced according to sector translation that tends to use a few read operations. A series of experiments was organized to inspect the performance of the proposed method, and they show very impressive results.

In this paper, we propose a new hybrid wear leveling technique for NAND Flash memory, called Time-Aware Wear Leveling (TAWL). Our proposal prolongs the lifetime of NAND Flash memory by using dynamic wear leveling technique which considers the wear level of hot blocks as well as static wear leveling technique which considers the wear level of the whole blocks. TAWL also reduces the overhead of garbage collection by separating hot data and cold data using update frequency rate. We showed that TAWL enhanced the lifetime of NAND flash memory up to 220% compared with previous wear leveling techniques and our technique also reduced the number of copy operations of garbage collections by separating hot and cold data up to 45%.

This paper is concerned with transfer process on hot forging of bearing hub. Workers on hot forging have difficulty in working by high temperature and weight workpiece. And In conventional got forging of bearing hub, the material wasted to the flash accounts approximately 10% of the original workpiece. It is need manufacture automation and reduce the cost of forged products. Surface treatment of die and lubricant are investigated from experiment and FE-simulation for analysis of forming simulation. In order to hot forging process design considered flash thickness and blocker geometry and initial temperature of die and billet. This transfer process gave comparatively good results compared with actual products.

While read operation on flash memory is fast and doesn't have any constraints, flash memory can not be overwritten on updating data, new data are updated in new area. If data are frequently updated, garbage collection, which is achieved by erasing blocks, should be performed to reclaim new area. Hence, because the number of erase operations is limited due to characteristics of flash memory, every block should be evenly written and erased. However, if data with access locality are processed by cost benefit algorithm with separation of hot block and cold block, though the performance of processing is high, wear-leveling is not even. In this paper, we propose CB-MG (Cost Benefit between Multi Group) algorithm in which hot data are allocated in one group and cold data in another group, and in which role of hot group and cold group is exchanged every period. Experimental results show that performance and wear-leveling of CB-MG provide better results than those of CB-S.

Since flash memory cannot be overwritten, new data are updated in new area. If data are frequently updated, garbage collection which is achieved by erasing blocks, should be performed to reclaim new area. Hence, because the count of erase operations is limited due to characteristics of flash memory, every block should be evenly written and erased. However, if data with access locality are processed by cost benefit algorithm with separation of hot block ad cold block though the performance of processing is hight wear-leveling is not even. In this paper, we propose CB-MB (Cost Benefit between Multi Bank) algorithm in which hot data are allocated in one bank and cold data in another bank, and in which role of hot bank and cold bank is exchanged every period. CB-MB shows that its performance is 30% better than cost benefit algorithm with separation of cold block and hot block its wear-leveling is about a third of that in standard deviation.

Preform design techniques have been investigated in efforts to reduce die wear and forming load and to improve material flow, filing ratio, etc. In hot forging processes, a thin deformed part of a workpiece, known as a flash, is formed in the narrow gap between the upper and lower tools. Although designers make tools that generate a flash intentionally in order to improve flow properties, excessive flash increases die wear and forming load. Therefore, it is necessary to make a preform shape that can reduce the excessive flash without changing flow properties. In this paper, a new preform design technique is proposed to reduce the excessive flash in a metal forging process. After a finite element simulation of the process is carried out with an initial billet, the flow of material in the flash region is traced from the final shape to the initial billet. The region belonging to the flash is then easily found in the initial billet. The finite element simulation is then carried out again with the modified billet from which the selected region has been removed. In several iterations of this technique, the optimal preform shape that minimizes the amount of flash without changing the forgeability can be obtained.

This case study reports on the effectiveness of Korean medicine treatment for menopausal hot flashes in stroke patients. During hospitalization, a female patient with medial medullary infarction was diagnosed with menopausal hot flashes and received treatment with traditional Korean medicine and acupuncture. The assessment was performed by monitoring daily habits to relieve hot flashes. The hot flash index, menopause rating scale (MRS), menopause-specific quality of life (MENQoL) questionnaire, and Kupperman index (KI) were also used. After 28 days of treatment, the hot flash index improved from 27 to 2, MRS improved from 11 to 2, MENQoL improved from 40 to 21, and KI improved from 22 to 6. Thus, this case suggests that Korean medicine treatment may be effective for menopausal hot flashes in stroke patients.
