Effects of medicinal herb extract on nonspecific immune responses, hematology and disease resistance against Edwardsiella tarda in olive flounder, Paralichthys olivaceus were evaluated. Wormwood, Artemisia asiatica NAKAI and barrenwort, Epimedium koreanum NAKAI were mixed at a ratio of 7 : 3 (w/w) for 2-herbs extract and wormwood, barrenwort, Korean forsythia, Forsythia koreana NAKAI, chrysanthemum, Chrysanthemum zawadskii var. latilobum KITAMURA, peppermint, Mentha arvensis L. var, piperascens MALINV., great burnet, Snaguisorba afficinalis L., Lizard tail. Saururus chinensis BAILL., mulberry, Morus alba L., and star anise, Illicium varum HOOK, f, at the same weight for 9-herbs extract. Two-herbs of 9-herbs extract were prepared by heating after adding 10㎖ of distilled water per g of the herb mixtures. Fish (10.3$\pm$2.5g) were fed the experimental diets supplemented with the 2-herbs or 9-herbs extract at the different concentrations of 0%, 0.1%, 0.5% and 1% per kg diet for 12 weeks. Lysozyme and bactericidal activities of serum, and hematological characteristics were examined during experimental period. After feeding test period, all experimental groups were challenged with E. tarda. Lysozyme activity from the fish fed the diet supplemented with 0.1% or 0.5% of 2-herbs extract was significantly higher than the control. But there was no difference both in bactericidal activity and hematology among each group. Sixty seven % of relative percent survival values (RPS) in the group fed the diet supplemented with 0.1% of 2-herbs was higher than the other group and the control. These results suggest that supplenmentation of 0.1% of 2-herbs extract to a commercial diet may enhance disease resistance in olive flounder. Although both 0.1% and 0.5% 9-herbs extract did not improve non-specific immune reponses, they could enhance disease resistance of 53% RPS, respectively.

The nuclear structures are composed of large diameter bars over No.36. If the hooked bars are used for anchorage of large diameter bars, too long length of the tail extension of the hook plus bend create congestion and make an element difficult to construct. To address those problems, headed bars were developed. Provisions of ACI 318-08 specify the development length of headed bars and ignore the effect of transverse reinforcement based on the background researches. However, if headed bars are used at the cut-off or lap splice, longitudinal reinforcements, which are deformed in flexural members, induce tensile stress in cover concrete and increase the tensile force in the transverse reinforcement. The object of this research is to evaluate the effects of transverse reinforcement on the anchorage capacity of headed bar so anchorage test with variable of transverse rebar spacing was conducted. Specimens, which can consider the behavior at the cut-off, were tested. Test results show that failure of specimen without transverse reinforcement was sudden and brittle with concrete cover lifted and developed stress of headed bars was less than half of yield strength of headed bars. On the other hand, in the specimen with transverse reinforcement, transverse rebar directly resist the load of free-end so capacity of specimens highly increased.

The study was to observe hemodynamic alterations of cardiac function to design a model of canine mitral valve insufficiency (MVI) based on chordae tendinae rupture (CTR). Ten healthy beagles with normal heart function were used in this study. To measure hemodynamics, the patient monitor was equipped for invasive blood pressure and a Swan-Ganz catheter. Hemodynamic alterations were checked promptly during CTR procedures. MVI model was made by transection of the chordae tendinae with small arthroscopy hook knife through $5^{th}$ intercostal open chest. Color Doppler at the level of the mitral valve showed high-velocity regurgitant flow immediately after CTR at intraoperative echocardiography. In hemodynamic measurements, pulmonary capillary wedge pressure (PCWP) was significantly increased, while mean arterial pressure (MAP), venous pressure (VP), pulmonary arterial pressure (PAP), cardiac output (CO) and cardiac index (CI) were significantly decreased after CTR. It was known that the left atrium was overloaded by regurgitant volume from the left ventricle. In conclusion, the MVI model induced by CTR technique in this study should be used as suitable one for the effective research of canine mitral valve disease. Further study should be needed to measure the chronic alternation of mitral valve in the model.

Recently, complex-shaped tall buildings represented by 3T(Twisted, Tapered, Tilted) are planed largely. A diagrid structural system is one of the most widely used structural system for complex-shaped tall buildings because of its structural efficiency and formativeness. Plans for tilted tall buildings are largely presented because of beauty of a sculpture and many of buildings use diagrid structural systems. Lateral displacements of tilted tall buildings are induced by not only lateral loads but also self weight. Therefore, reduction of lateral responses of tilted tall buildings is as important as typical tall buildings. In this study, a smart TMD is introduced to reduce seismic responses of tilted diagrid tall buildings and its control performance is evaluated. MR damper is employed for the smart TMD and ground-hook controller is used as a control algorithm for the smart TMD. 100-story tall building is used as an example structure. Control performances of uncontrolled case, controlled case with TMD and controlled case with smart TMD are compared and investigated. Numerical simulation has shown that smart TMD presented good control performance for displacement response but acceleration response was not controlled well.

Length and weight relationship (LWR) for dominant Antarctic fishes was determined in two species of the family Nototheniidae; black rockcod (Notothenia coriiceps) and marbled rockcod (Notothenia rossii). Samples were caught in the offshore sea around King Sejong station located on King George Island, Antarctica in January, 2017. A total of 30 N. coriiceps and 7 N. rossii were caught by fishing rod and hook. Average total length was 266.0 mm for N. coriiceps and 275.4 mm for N. rossii. Average total weight was 283.1g for N. coriiceps and 290 g for N. rossii. In terms of LWR and b value, the results showed that both two species had positive allometries (b>3) in good health. This size information of two dominant Antarctic fishes would be useful for future physiological studies to understand of adaptation mechanism and biological pathway of Antarctic marine organisms.

External morphology characteristics of the greenhouse whitefly, Trialeurodes vaporarium were investigated by scanning electron microscopy. The antennae of the greenhouse whitefly was 6 segments. rod-shape, and 0.3mm length. On the 6th segment, there were many sensilla for searching host-plant as olfactory receptor. The mouthpart of the greenhouse whitefly was a piercing-sucing type, then its stylet was well developed for piercing plant leaf tissue. Claw of the foreleg was a 3-way hook shape including paranychium for attaching plant surface to pierce and lay egg.
The flora in the region of Songnisan National Park ($N36^{\circ}28^{\prime}05^{{\prime}{\prime}}{\sim}36^{\circ}46^{\prime}38^{{\prime}{\prime}}$, $E\;127^{\circ}47^{\prime}06^{{\prime}{\prime}}{\sim}127^{\circ}57^{\prime}50^{{\prime}{\prime}}$) was surveyed from April 2000 to July 2006. Vascular plants in 26 collections included a total of 723 taxa: 115 families, 392 genera, 629 species, 4 subspecies, 72 varieties and 18 forms. Ninety-three of these taxa were first records for the region. In the flora of Songnisan National Park, 27 taxa were Korean endemic plants, 19 taxa were rare and endangered plants as designated by the Korea Forest Service. Forty-five of the taxa were with the levels III, IV, V in the floristic regional indicator plants which was designated by Korean Ministry of Environment, and 29 taxa were alien plants now naturalized in Korea. Owing to their unusual phytogeography and low number of populations, the taxa Crypsinus hastatus (Thunb.) Copel., Paeonia japonica (Makino) Miyabe & Takeda, Jeffersonia dubia (Maxim.) Benth. & Hook.f. ex Baker & S.Moore, Bupleurum euphorbioides Nakai, Phacellanthus tubiflorus Siebold & Zucc., Lilium cernuum Kom., Gastrodia elata Blume and Cephalanthera erecta var. subaphylla (Miyabe & Kud ) Ohwi were considered the most important. Based on these results, it is clear that appropriate plans to conserve the natural habitat of Songnisan National Park must be made immediately.
Ultrasonography (US) is a recent technique that has proven to be useful for assessing muscle thickness and guiding the rehabilitation decision-making of clinicians and researchers. The purpose of this study was to determine the inter-rater reliability of the US measurement of transversus abdominis (TrA), internal oblique (IO), and external oblique (EO) thicknesses for different probe locations and measurement techniques. Twenty healthy volunteers were recruited in this study. Muscle thicknesses of the transversus TrA, IO, and EO were measured three times in the hook-lying position. The three different probe locations were as follows: 1) Probe location 1 (PL1) was below the rib cage in direct vertical alignment with the anterior superior iliac spine (ASIS). 2) Probe location 2 (PL2) was halfway between the ASIS and the ribcage along the mid-axillary line. 3) Probe location 3 (PL3) was halfway between the iliac crest and the inferior angle of the rib cage, with adjustment to ensure the medial edge of the TrA. The two different techniques of thickness measurement from the captured images were as follows: 1) Muscle thickness was measured in the middle of the muscle belly, which was centered within the captured image (technique A; TA). 2) Muscle thickness was measured along a horizontal reference line located 2 cm apart from the medial edge of the TrA in the captured image (technique B; TB). The intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC [3,k]) was used to calculate the inter-rater reliability of the thickness measurement of TrA, IO and EO using the values from both the first and second examiner. In all three muscles, moderate to excellent reliability was found for all conditions (probe locations and measurement techniques) (ICC=.70~.97). In the PL1-TA condition, inter-rater reliability in the three muscle thicknesses was good to excellent (ICC=.85~.96). The reliability of all measurement conditions was excellent in IO (ICC=.95~.97). Therefore, the findings of this study suggest that TA can be applied to PL1 by clinicians and researchers in order to measure the thickness of abdominal muscles.

The purpose of this study was to examine contraction of abdominal muscles on surface electromyographic (EMG) activity of superficial cervical flexors, rib cage elevation and angle of craniocervical flexion during deep cervical flexion exercise in supine position. Fifteen healthy subjects were participated for this study. All subjects performed deer cervical flexion exercise with two methods. The positions of two methods were no volitional contraction of abdominal muscles in hook-lying position with 45 degree hip flexion (method 1) and 90 degrees hip and knee flexion with feet off floor for inducing abdominal muscle contraction (method 2). Surface EMG activities were recorded from five muscles (sternocleidmastoid, anterior scaleneus, recuts abdominis, external oblique, internal oblique). And distance of rib cage elevation and angle of craniocervical flexion were measured using a three dimensional motion analysis system. The EMG activity of each muscle was normalized to the value of reference voluntary contraction (%RVC). The EMG activities, distance of rib cage elevation. and angle of craniocervical were compared using a paired t-test between two methods. The results showed that the EMG activities of sternocleidmastoid and anterior scaleneus during deep cervical flexion exercise in method 2 were significantly decreased compared to method 1 (p<.05). Distance of rib cage elevation and angle of craniocervical flexion were significantly decreased in method 2 (p<.05). The findings of this study indicated that deep cervical flexion exercise with contraction of abdominal muscles could be an effective method to prevent substitute motion for rib cage elevation and contraction of superficial neck flexor muscles.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the stress distributions in the surrounding tissues of the teeth seated by indirect retainers in three different teeth of unilateral distal extension partial denture when the dislodging forces were applied on denture bases. Three dimensional photoelastic models were made. The teeth on which indirect retainers were seated were mandibular left lateral incisor (Model I), canine (Model II), and first premolar (Model III). The dislodging force with 860mg at $45^{\circ}$ angulation to occlusal plane was applied to each model. Three dimensional photoelastic stress analysis was done, and the records were diagramed and analysed. The results were as follows : The compressive stresses were shown the most on neck portions of buccal, mesial, and distal sides in all three models. Slight tensile stresses were shown on neck portions of lingual sides in all three models. The compressive stresses on buccal side were shown in strength in such order as model I, model II, and model III. The compressive stresses were shown on neck portion of mesial and distal sides of model I and mode II, with model I more than Model II. The compressive stresses were shown only on neck portion of mesial side on Model III. The general overall magnitude of compressive stresses were shown in strength in such order as Model I, Model II, and Model III.
