  • The error diffusion technique is frequently utilized for the digital Imaging output devices to convert continuous level Image into bi-level Image It Yields the binary image with the high frequency emphasis that gives a pleasing perception to human eyes But, due to the non-homogeneous distribution of dots, It exhibits undesirable patterns that degenerate the perceived quality Various techniques have been proposed to Improve the Image quality by the error diffusion techniques In this paper, the cause of non-homogeneity of dot distribution is analyzed first. A threshold modulation technique that employs a simple sinusoidal function is proposed in this paper The proposed method achieves the homogeneous dot distribution by forcing the minor pixels on the binary Image to maintain the principal distance defined according to their gray levels. It also minimizes the void and clusters of minor pixels.

  • Rainfall is a phenomenon that shows a high variability both in space and time, Hy drologists are usually interested in the description of spatial distribution of rainfall over watershed. The theory of Kriging, generalized covariance technique using nonstationary mean in the regions under orographic effect, was chosen to construct random surface of total storm depth. For the constructed random surface, the double Fourier analysis of the total storm depths was performed, and the principal harmonics of storm were determined. The local component, or storm residuals was obtained by subtracting the periodic component of the storm from total storm depths. It is assumed that the residuals are a sample function of a homogeneous random field. This random field can be characterized by an isotropic one dimensional autocorrelation function or its corresponding spectral density function. Under this assumption, this study proposed a theorectical model for spectral density function adapted to two watersheds.

  • A Green's function approach is adopted for analyzing the thermoelastic deformation and stress analysis of a plate made of functionally graded materials (FGMs). The solution to the 3-dimensional steady temperature is obtained by using the laminate theory. The fundamental equations for thermoelastic problems are derived in terms of out-plane deformation and in-plane force, separately. The thermoelastic deformation and the stress distributions due to the bending and in-plane forces are analyzed by using a Green’Às function based on the Galerkin method. The eigenfunctions of the Galerkin Green's function for the thermoelastic deformation and the stress distributions are approximated in terms of a series of admissible functions that satisfy the homogeneous boundary conditions of the rectangular plate. Numerical examples are carried out and effects of material properties on thermoelastic behaviors are discussed.

  • The function exp$(x^2)$erfc(x), which is often encountered in studies of electrode kinetics, is evaluated to an extended precision with 32 significant decimal digits in order to find theoretical relationships used in derivative polarography/voltammetry for a chemically-coupled electrode process. Computations with a lower precision are not successful. Evaluation of the function is accomplished by using three types of expansions for the function. Best ranges of arguments are selected for each equation for particular precisions for efficiencies. The method is successfully applied to calculate higher-order derivatives of the current-potential curves in all potential ranges for a reversible electron transfer reaction coupled with a prior chemical equilibrium (i.e., a CE type process). Various parameters that characterize the peak asymmetry (such as ratios of peak-heights, ratios of half-peak-widths, and separations in peak-potentials) are analyzed to find how kinetic and thermodynamic parameters influence shapes of the derivatives. The results from the CE process is compared with those from an EC process in which a reversible electron transfer is coupled with a follow-up homogeneous chemical reaction. The two processes exibit quite contrasting differences for values of the parameters.

  • This paper deals with the static analysis of axially functionally graded rectangular plates. It is assumed that the flexural rigidity of the plate varies exponentially along one of the plate's in-plane dimensions. Both an analytical approach and a numerical method are utilized to solve the problem. The analytical solution is obtained by using the Green's function method. To employ this approach, the adjoint boundary value problem is established. Then, exact solutions for deflection of the plate for different boundary conditions are found. In another way, a finite element formulation for the problem is developed. In order to demonstrate the validity of the Authors' formulation, the results obtained via both mentioned schemes are compared with each other for functionally graded plates and with results of previously published works for homogeneous plates. The effect of plate parameters on the response of the plate is also investigated. To remind the research background, a brief review on the application of Green's function method in plates' analysis and functionally graded plates is also presented.

  • There are many software reliability models that are based on the times of occurrences of errors in the debugging of software. Software error detection techniques known in advance, but influencing factors for considering the errors found automatically and learning factors, by prior experience, to find precisely the error factor setting up the testing manager are presented comparing the problem. It is shown that it is possible to do asymptotic likelihood inference for software reliability models based on infinite failure model and non-homogeneous Poisson Processes (NHPP). Statistical process control (SPC) can monitor the forecasting of software failure and thereby contribute significantly to the improvement of software reliability. Control charts are widely used for software process control in the software industry. In this paper, we proposed a control mechanism based on NHPP using mean value function of logarithmic hazard learning effects property.

  • Objective: During the last decade, genetic evaluation of dairy cows using longitudinal data (test day milk yield or 305-day milk yield) using random regression method has been officially adopted in several countries. The objectives of this study were to estimate covariance functions for genetic and permanent environmental effects and to obtain genetic parameters of 305-day milk yield over seven parities. Methods: Data including 60,279 total 305-day milk yield of 17,309 Iranian Holstein dairy cows in 7 parities calved between 20 to 140 months between 2004 and 2011. Residual variances were modeled by homogeneous and step functions with 7 and 10 classes. Results: The results showed that a third order polynomial for additive genetic and permanent environmental effects plus a step function with 10 classes for the residual variance was the most adequate and parsimonious model to describe the covariance structure of the data. Heritability estimates obtained by this model varied from 0.17 to 0.28. The performance of this model was better than repeatability model. Moreover, 10 classes of residual variance produce the more accurate result than 7 classes or homogeneous residual effect. Conclusion: A quadratic Legendre polynomial for additive genetic and permanent environmental effects with 10 step function residual classes are sufficient to produce a parsimonious model that explained the change in 305-day milk yield over consecutive parities of Iranian Holstein cows.

  • In this paper, we propose a general cross-chain solution based on the idea of modularity, abstraction, and layering, which decoupling the cross-chain function from the consensus algorithm and specific application logic, and utilize a Merkle proof to ensure the validity and legality of cross-chain operations. Since the underlying implementations of homogeneous and heterogeneous blockchains are different, we treat them separately. For homogeneous blockchains, we suggest a TCP-like cross-chain transport protocol (CCTP). While for heterogeneous blockchains, we present a method to construct the relay chain to realize the cross-chain function. The proposed scheme can enable the correct, effective, reliable, orderly, and timely transmission of cross-chain data. However, the essential difference between the operations within a single blockchain and the interoperability between different blockchains is that the trust domain is different. Cross-chain interoperation itself breaks the completeness of the blockchain, therefore, some efficiency and safety must sacrifice to trade-off.

  • A multicast switch, which can provide a single uniform switching function for vastly different classes of traffic, is crucial for the successful deployment of intergrated broadband networks. In this paper, we study the call blocking probability of heterogeneous circuit emulated traffic in a multicast switch. A previous work on the analysis of homogeneous traffic, where all calls have the same fan-out, show the performance showed that the call blocking probability increases rapidly as fan out increases. We study the performance of heterogeneous traffic, which consists of calls of different fan out, and show the performance gaps between larger fan-out traffic and smaller fan-out traffic are larger than those of homogeneous traffic these results indicate the necessity of efficient resource allocation policies to improve the performance of multicast calls. We conclude the paper introducing several methods to improve the performance of multicast traffic.

  • A composite of rapidly solidified Al-6061 alloy powder with graphite particle reinforcements was prepared by ball milling and subsequent hot extrusion. The microstructure and mechanical properties of these composites were investigated as a function of milling time. With increasing milling time, the gas atomized initially and spherical powders became elongated with a maximum aspect ratio after milling for 30 h. Then, refinement and spheroidization were achieved by further milling to 70 h with a homogeneous and fine dispersion of graphite particles forming between the matrix alloy layers. The best compression and wear properties were obtained in the powder milled for 70 h, associated with the increased fine and homogeneous distribution of graphite particles in the aluminum alloy matrix.
