In this paper, a plasma-assisted patterning method for the organic layers of organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) and its effect on the OLED performances are reported. Oxygen plasma was used to etch the organic layers, using the top electrode consisting of lithium fluoride and aluminum as an etching mask. Although the current flow at low voltages increased for the etched OLEDs, there was no significant degradation of the OLED efficiency and lifetime in comparison with the conventional OLEDs. Therefore, this method can be used to reduce the ohmic voltage drop along the common top electrodes by connecting the top electrode with highly conductive bus lines after the common organic layers on the bus lines are etched by plasma. To further analyze the current increase at low voltages, the plasma patterning effect on the OLED performance was investigated by changing the device sizes, especially in one direction, and by changing the etching depth in the vertical direction of the device. It was found that the current flow increase at low voltages was not proportional to the device sizes, indicating that the current flow increase does not come from the leakage current along the etched sides. In the etching depth experiment, the current flow at low voltages did not increase when the etching process was stopped in the middle of the hole transport layer. This means that the current flow increase at low voltages is closely related to the modification of the hole injection layer, and thus, to the modification of the interface between the hole injection layer and the bottom electrode.
During drilling, the precipitation velocity of cuttings within an annulus depends on the density and configuration of the cuttings, and on the density, viscosity, and rheological characteristics of the drilling fluid. In directional drilling in particular, it is difficult to adjust and control the cuttings. In contrast to vertical drilling, it is very important to evaluate the flow characteristics of a drilling flow field. However, research on the transfer features of cuttings is inadequate. In this study, in order to identify transfer features of cuttings, an experiment was performed under wide-ranging conditions by constructing a slim hole annulus ($44mm{\times}30mm$) device. In this experiment, the particle volume fraction were influenced by particle size, particle concentration within the flow, pipe rotation, flow volume, and inclination of the annulus. In addition, a mathematical formula for volumetric concentration was deduced and compared to the test results and behavior of cuttings under the other drilling condition was made to be predicted. Therefore, this study can provide meaningful data for vertical and horizontal drilling, and for directional drilling.

The electrical properties of stabilized amorphous selenium typical of the material used in direct conversion x-ray imaging devices are reported. Carrier mobility was measured using time-of-flight (TOF) measurements to investigate the transport properties of holes and electrons in stabilized a-Se film. A laser beam with pulse duration of 5 ns and wavelength of 350nm was illuminated on the surface of a-Se with thickness of 400 $\mu\textrm{m}$. The photo induced signals of a-Se film as a function of time were measured. The measured transit times of hole and electron were about 8.73${\mu}\textrm{s}$ and 229.17${\mu}\textrm{s}$, respectively. The hole and electron drift mobilities decreases with increase of electric field up to 4V/$\mu\textrm{m}$. Above 4V/$\mu\textrm{m}$, the measured drift mobilities exhibited no observable dependence with respect to electric field. The experimental results showed that the hole and electron drifting mobility were 0.04584 $\textrm{cm}^2$ V$\^$-1/s$\^$-1/ sand 0.00174 $\textrm{cm}^2$V$\^$-1/s$\^$-1/ at 10 V/$\mu\textrm{m}$.

The existing conjugated blue emitting material polymer which has been used for the two-wavelength method white-emission has good stability and low operating voltage as merits, but the imbalanced carrier transport has been indicated as problem area. We have introduced a novel blue emitting material having perylene moiety unit with hole transporting ability and blue emitting property and triazine moiety unit with electron transporting ability into the same host chain. We have synthesized N-[p-(perylen-3-y1)pheny1]methacry1 amide (PPMA) monomer and [N-(2,4-dipheny1-1,3,5-triazine)pheny1 methacry1 amide] (DTPM) monomer having blue light-emitting unit and electron transport unit, respectively by three steps. A novel non-conjugated blue emitting material Poly[N -[p(perylene-3-y1) pheny1] methacry1 amide-co-N-[P-(4,6-dipheny1-1,3,5-triazine-2-y1]pheny1]methacry1 amide] (PPPMA-co-DTPM) copolymer having electron transporting unit was synthesized by the solution polymerization of PPMA and DTPM monomers with an AIBN initiator and showed high yield of $75{\%}$. It was very soluble in common organic solvents, and the fabrication of the thin film using a spin coating method was very simple. The PPPMA exhibited a good thermal stability.
In this study, we analyzed the electric and optical characteristics by using various deposition rate ($0.5{\AA}$, $1.0{\AA}$ and $1.5{\AA}/s$) in order to enhance the performance in organic light-emitting devices (OLED). The organic multi-layer structures were deposited with NPB ($500{\AA}$ as hole transport layer), Alq3 ($600{\AA}$ as electron transport layer and emission layer) and LiF ($8{\AA}$ as electron injection layer) via SUNIC PLUS200 on Glass/ITO substrates. In this experiment, we examined the relationship between porous state of organic deposition and mobility of the organic materials. Among the three deposition rates, $0.5{\AA}/s$ achieved the highest performance of (10,786cd/m2, 4.387cd/A) comparing with that of $1{\AA}/s$ (7,779cd/m2, 3.281cd/A) and $1.5{\AA}/s$ (5,167cd/m2, 2.693cd/A). We confirmed that low deposition rate helps to arrange organic materials densely and to move easily another atomic location using inter-chain transporting by orbital overlap.

A novel blue-green emitting aluminum complex was developed by employing 8-hydroxyquinoline as co-ligand for enhancement of electron transport and light emission abilities so that the electroluminescent (EL) devices do not need additional electron transport layer. The aluminum complex (PAlQ) of 8-hydroxyquinoline and ${\alpha}$-pyridoin was synthesized The structure of the PAlQ was elucidated by FT-IR, UV-Vis and XPS. The PAlQ complex showed thermal stability up to 350$^{\circ}C$ under nitrogen flow by TGA. The photoluminescence (PL) was measured from solid film of the PAlQ complex on quartz substrate. The EL device was fabricated by the vacuum deposition. The device having the structure of ITO/TPD/PAlQ/Al was studied, where N,N-bis(3-methylphenyl}-N,N'-diphenyl-benzidine (TPD) was used as a hole transporting layer. The EL device emitted a blue-green light.
In the present work, ZnO nanoparticles (NPs) have been dispersed alone in the same solvent of the active layer for improving performance parameters of the organic solar cells. Different concentrations of the ZnO NPs have been blended inside active layer of the solar cell based on poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT), which forms the hole-transport network, and [6,6]-phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM), which forms the electron-transport network. In the present investigations, the ZnO NPs may represent an efficient tool for improving light harvesting through light scattering inside active layer, electron mobility, and electron acceptance strength which tend to improve photocurrent and performance parameters of the investigated solar cell. The fill factor (FF) of the ZnO-doped solar cell increases nearly 14% compared to the non-doped solar cell when the doping is 50%. The present investigations show that ZnO NPs improve power conversion efficiency of the solar cell from 1.23% to 1.64% with increment around 25% that takes place after incorporation of 40% as a volume ratio of the ZnO NPs inside P3HT:PCBM active layer.
