  • Transfer pricing mechanism is applied to the problem of input buffer size in the context of interfacing a flexible manufacturing system with multiple following production lines. The size of the input buffers can be determined economically by using non-linear transfer pricing either in a decentralized organization or in a centralized organization. Under the certain conditions, input buffer size determined from this non-linear transfer pricing is more economical than the traditional economic lot size model. The benefit comes from transferring part of FMS' inventory to the following production lines. And this non-linear transfer pricing makes sense if the FMS' unit inventory holding cost is high enough.

  • The hydraulic coconut dehusking machine consists of three main parts ie. The frame , the power unit including the hydraulic accessories, the lifting and dehusking mechanisms. Two sets of the hydraulic coconut dehusking machine were developed . their hydraulic and electrical control circuits were connected in series to enable them operating contemporaneously. Two operators are required to operate the machine. Each of them put a coconut on the lifting mechanism in order to start the working cycle automatically. As a result, the nut are immediately pushed up and seized by the holding teeth under the supplement of the hydraulic reducing circuit. After that the dehusking mechanism started operating via the sequence circuit. At the end of the cycle, both mechanisms return to their original positions. Some remaining fibrous is taken out manually from the nut subsequently . The continuous dehusking speed was found to be 22.2 seconds per 2 coconuts.

  • Motorized retractors enhance the safety of passengers by removing the slack of webbing and by holding upright driving position. Reliability of a driving mechanism that includes one-way clutch between the driving motor and webbing is directly linked to the safety of passenger. In this research, conditions for locking one-way clutch, and also conditions for sustaining locking are theoretically investigated. The operation of a motorized retractor under realistic conditions is simulated in order to validate the proposed retractor design.

Optimum Condition and Color Mechanism for Gold Color Glaze in Diopside Crystallization (Diopside 금색 결정 유약의 발색 기구)

  • Generally, the color gold has had a biased conception due to its traditional use. Thus, this bias has resulted in a lack of usage of golden glaze on ceramics and also a lack of extensive studies of such glazes. In this paper, optimum conditions and mechanism of formation of gold color crystallization glaze containing $Fe_2O_3$(hematite), which is developed for gold colors of ceramic glazes, were studied. Experimental result showed that there are pyroxene based on diopside and $TiO_2$ phase in the base of a crystallization glaze with a value of $TiO_2$ of 6 wt% confirmed by XRD and Raman Spectroscopy. When $Fe_2O_3$ was used as a colorant for the gold color, the $TiO_2$ peak became extinct and the intensity of the diopside peak was sharper. Feldspar of 60 wt%, talc of 20 wt% and limestone of 20 wt% were used as the starting materials and these were tested using a three component system. The best result of test was selected and extended to its vicinity as an experiment to determine $TiO_2$ and $Fe_2O_3$ contents. The glaze with $TiO_2$ of 6 wt% and $Fe_2O_3$ of 12 wt% addition showed stable pyroxene based diopside crystals and the development of gold color. This gold color was obtained with CIE-$L^*a^*b^*$ values of 51.27, 4.46, 16.15 (a grayish yellow brown color), which was gained using the following firing conditions: temperature increasing speed $5^{\circ}C$/min, holding for 1 h at $1280^{\circ}C$, annealing speed $3^{\circ}C$/min till $1100{\circ}C$, holding for 2 h at $1100{\circ}C$, and finally natural annealing.

  • Nylon wire cutting method by nichrome wire is generally applicable for cube satellite applications due to its advantages of simplicity. However, the system complexity is not avoidable to apply it on the cube satellite with multi-deployable structures. A lower constraint force of the mechanism is also one of the disadvantages of the mechanism. In this study, we proposed a preliminary structure design of cube satellite with the separation mechanism which is applicable for holding and release of the multi-deployable structures. The effectiveness of the mechanism design was verified through function test of EM mechanism. The structure analysis results showed that the structure design proposed in this study is feasible.

A Study on the Effect of Modifiers Affecting the Modification of the Al-Si Alloys (Al-Si 합금의 개량화에 미치는 각종 개량화제의 영향에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, Na, Li, Sb, Sr were added as the modifiers to improve the mechanical proper ties of Al-Si alloys and their effects were compared one another Thermal analysis was carried out to measure the degree of undercooling, that is, the basic mechanism of modifying effect. The measurements of holding time and analyses of components of Al-Si alloys were carried out to compare the fading of the modifiers. Greater degree of undercooling was measured from the modified alloy than the normal alloys. In the modified alloy, the shape of Si was changed into a fine fiber phase or a lamellar phase from the coarse plate phase. There are not modifying effect of Sb below the $1.5^{\circ}C$ /sec of cooling rate. As the cooling rate increases, similar effects appears in the non-modified alloys like the modified alloys. Na and Li were faded in short time and were difficult to control on the melt, but Sb and Sr were scarcely faded for 6 hours of holding and were easy to control on the melt. Na and Sr are the good modifiers in terms of microstructure. Sb is the best modifier, but Na, Li are the inadequate modifiers in terms of fading.

Development of Robot Hand for Transplanting Plug Seedlings (플러그묘 이식을 위한 로봇 핸드 개발)

  • As a basic experiment for robot hand for transplanting plug seedling, the experimental robot hand system which moves up and downward vertically, and allows hand blade to open and close was made. The system was constructed with the robot hand mechanism, the tray, the plug seedling, and the measuring equipments. The penetrating force and holding efficiency were analyzed according to the soil moisture and the variation of hand blade angle. The highest holding efficiency could be obtained at the penetrating angle of approximately from 0 to 0.36 degree and at the moisture content of soil from 71% to 75%. The external force acted on the robot hand should maximum force when the robot hand was penetrated to soil, minimum of approximately 30.4 N when the penetrating angle was 0$^{\circ}$ and moisture content was 66-70%. It was increased with increasing or decreasing the Penetrating angle from 0 degree and also with increasing or decreasing the moisture content of soil from 66-70%. For optimal design of the robot hand and manipulator, the external force acted on robot hand had to be based on the returning force of soil, when the robot hand was penetrated to the soil. In consideration of safety ratio, the appropriate external force seemed to be 39-49 N.

Ownership Structure and Cash Holdings: Empirical Evidence from Saudi Arabia

  • This paper examines the relationship between ownership structure and level cash holdings in an emerging country, namely, Saudi Arabia, by constructing a corporate governance mechanism (foreign ownership, family ownership, institutional and managerial ownership). This paper uses data from 100 listed firms at Saudi Stock Exchange (TADAWUL) from 2011 to 2019. The firm's decision to hold cash has come to the fore in the last two or three years as a result of the recent global financial crisis, and the impact that this has had on the firms' ability to raise funds from external sources. Using the random-effect generalized least square (GLS) regression model, the findings reveal that foreign and family ownership negatively influences cash holdings, while managerial ownership has a positive association with cash holdings. Further, institutional ownership did not have a direct effect on cash holdings in Saudi Arabia. Our results suggest that ownership structure include foreign ownership, family and managerial ownership is an essential vehicle to promote the performance of cash holding of all the 100 public-listed non-financial firms in Saudi Arabia. We recommend that sound policies should be targeted toward foreign ownership, family, and managerial ownership since they are essential to improve cash holding in Saudi Arabian firms.

  • Vehicle Holding Device(VHD) has a role that holding the launch vehicle on its launch pad until the engine therust reaches a steady condition. The analytical study of shape parameters and dynamic characteristics of hydraulic cylinders is carried out. The contraction of cylinder is considered as the major factor of releasing mechanism. Through the analysis, the decreasing of cylinder slit size and increasing initial charging pressure increase the contraction force. Through the transient analysis, cylinder load, displacement and inner pressure distribution are confirmed. The cylinder contraction force is converged to the cylinder external force when the cylinder starts to move. Also, the pressure distribution in the hydraulic cylinder is constant.

Stable Control-rod Double Hold Method of Control Rod Drive Mechanism (원자로 제어봉구동장치의 안정적 제어봉 이중 유지 방법)

  • When a fault relating to the urgent alarm occurs, we must prevent control rods from dropping and make one of two grippers in Control Rod Drive Mechanism (CRDM) grip the drive rod laking a control rod assembly. If a gripper with any problem is ordered to grip the drive rod, the gripper which cannot latch the rod stably will fail to take the rod. On the purpose of escaping this bad case, we order two grippers to hold the drive rod and enhance the reliability of holding control rods. This action is called the double hold. In the middle of the movement of the drive rod, the latching of the drive rod can cause friction between a gripper and the drive rod. This state may give damage to both the gripper and the drive rod. In this paper, we have devised the method which can have two grippers hold the drive rod more stably, without damaging the equipment.
