The optimal design of floating type fisheries facilities in the open sea is demanded considering with the severe hydrodynamic forces on floating body, mooring tension and holding force of anchor. For conserving the facilities in most effective state, design and selection of anchor system is one of the most important fundamental subject. To enhance the design procedure of anchor system the holding forces of anchor are investigated by the hydraulic model test and are compared with the typical conventional results for various anchors. Applicability of previous estimation methods of holding force are checked and holding mechanism of anchor is discussed. Using the results a new computational concept of holding force is suggested considering mainly the effects of passive soil pressure (resistance), steady soil pressure, and surface friction etc. The new estimation method is proved as a feasible one by comparing the results of hydraulic model experiments. Applicability of various anchors to the anchor system on open sea fisheries structures is comprehensively reviewed using the present model tests and previous study results in the viewpoint of economy, construction and stability etc. Using the results, fundamental anchoring system design procedures are suggested to apply huge marine ranching complex with increase of the holding capacity of anchor under the optimum cost.

As larger the commercial vessel is, and rougher the marine environment becomes nowadays, drag embedment type anchor (DEA) of more stable performance and higher holding power is requested to be applied on the vessel. But, the performance of DEA has not become well known to academy and industries so far, that the basic study of DEA performance and holding force for the development of new DEA of higher performance is insufficient that required. In this paper, three types of same holding category DEA model (HALL, AC-14, POOL-N, scale 1/10), which are generally applied on the commercial vessel nowadays, were tested by being horizontally dragged on the test tank, on which sand was being floored with sufficient depth, and measured the holding force of each anchor simultaneously using load cell and D/A converter. With the test results, the embedding motion was analyzed to have three different stages and the holding force of each anchor was analyzed with respect to the anchor geometry, such as shape and weight of each type of anchors, and final embedding depth.
This paper is concerned with the quantitative effect of design parameters on a stamped part of the auto-body. The considered parameters in this paper are the blank holding force, the draw-bead force, the blank size which greatly affect the metal flow during stamping. The indicators of formability selected in this paper are failures such as tearing, wrinkling and the amount of springback. The stamping process of the front side inner member is simulated using the finite element analysis changing the design parameters. The numerical results demonstrate that the blank holding force cannot control the local metal flow during forming although it controls the overall metal flow. The modification of the initial blank size considering the punch opening line ensures the local wrinkling and reduces the amount of springback after forming. The restraining force of draw-bead controls the metal flow in the local area and reduces the amount of excess metal. It is noted that the parametric study of design parameters such as blank holding force, the blank size and the draw-bead are very important in the process design of the complicated member.
The drawability of AZ31B magnesium sheet is estimated at various temperatures (200, 250, 300, 350, $400^{\circ}C$), forming speeds (20, 50, 100mm/min), thicknesses (0.8, 1.4mm) and blank holding forces (2.0, 2.8, 3.4kN). The deep drawing process (DDP) of circular cup is used in forming experiments. The results of deep drawing experiments show that the drawability is well at the range from 250 to $300^{\circ}C$, 50mm/min forming speed and 2.0kN blank holding force. The 0.8mm magnesium sheets were deformed better than 1.4 mm. Blank holding force was controlled in order to improve drawability and prevent the change of cup thickness. When blank holding force was controlled, tearing and thickness change were decreased and limit drawing ratio was improved from 2.1 to 3.0.
The production of the automotive parts with the ultra high strength steel usually involves large amount of springback as well as fracture during the cold stamping process. Variable blank holding force(VBHF) can be used as one of the effective process parameters to reduce the springback amount with achieving better condition of formability. In this paper, VBHF with respect to the punch stroke is applied to the stamping process of the front side rear lower member for reducing the springback amount. From the analyses with constant blank holding force(CBHF), 24 kinds of VBHF conditions are utilized to investigate the springback tendency. It is noted that springback can be effectively reduced when BHF is increased near the bottom dead center because VBHF provides the tensile force to the blank with an adequate level of deformation without fracture.
Progressive shearing with blanking dies is commonly employed to produce large quantities of tiny sheet metal electronic parts. Sheet metal pins, which are narrow and long, that are sheared with a progressive die set are often twisted. The twist in the sheet metal pins, which usually occurs in the final shearing operation, generally decreases with increasing blank holding force. The blank holding forces in all shearing operations are not the same because of different shearing positions and areas. In the current study, the optimal layout of the springs in a progressive die set to minimize the twist of the sheet metal pin is proposed. In order to find the holding force acting on the tiny narrow blanks produced with the proposed springs during the shearing process, the equivalent area method is used in the structural analysis. The shearing of the sheet-metal pin was simulated to compute the twist angle associated with the blank holding force. The constraint condition satisfying the pre-set blank holding force from the previous shearing operations was imposed. A design of experiments (DOE) was numerically implemented by analyzing the progressive die structure and by simulating the shearing process. From the meta-model created from the experimental results and by using a quadratic response surface method (PQRSM), the optimal layout of the springs was determined. The twist of sheet metal pin associated with the optimal layout of the springs found in the current study was compared with that of an existing progressive die to obtain a minimal amount of twist.

Objective: The aim of this study is to characterize the impact of additional electrical stimulation (AES) and various pre-rigor holding temperatures (for 3 h) on the ageing-potential of hot boned bovine M. longissimus lumborum (LL). Methods: Paired LL loins from 12 bulls were hot-boned within 40 min of slaughter, immediate AES applied and subjected to various holding temperatures (5℃, 15℃, 25℃, and 35℃) for 3 h. Results: AES did not accelerate the rate of rigor attainment, but the 3 h pre-rigor holding temperature did. Shear force values decreased as the pre-rigor holding temperatures increased. AES and holding for 3 h (at 25℃) resulted in higher water-holding capacity. Conclusion: Data confirmed that AES did not influence the various meat quality parameters in the present study, but pre-rigor holding temperature (25℃) alone or in combination with AES resulted in superior meat quality.

A novel set of experimental test tooling for measuring pulling and holding forces for drawbeads on binders inclined at a wide range of angles is introduced. A mechanical design featuring a single load cell, a male-female draw bead set, translation and rotation degrees of freedom, and a screw-driven clamping system has been incorporated into a standard tensile test machine. On a real time basis, restraining and holding force data with respect to draw-in displacement may be directly downloaded into a PC for data processing. The proposed experimental system represents a significant breakthrough in drawbead simulation technology due to its relatively low cost, clever design, and versatility. The system is shown to yield excellent experimental data suitable for verifying theory and numerical model predictions.
A variable blank holding force method is proposed to improve deep drawing characteristics of sheet materials. In this method, the blank holding force (BHF) is controlled throughout a drawing process so that the punch load does not exceed a critical value, which is slightly less than the conventional process with the conforming process with the variable BHF is more flexible than the conventional process with the constant BHF and it could be used for improving the product's quality and drawability. In this paper we suggest a method controlling the BHF as a function of punch travel during the forming process. The optimization BHF curves are determined theoretically and experimentally. It is concluded that for the case of optimum BHF control methods the drawn cup height and the drawing formability achieved by this method are increased than those for constant BHF method. Also, as comparing the wall thickness distribution of the cup drawn by the constant BHF and the optimum BHF control, the BHF control reduce the wall thickness variation of the drawn cup at the cup wall and make the cup thickness distribution more uniformly than the constant BHF.
This paper deals with the shape fixability of press formed parts through the use of a V-bending process and a U-bending one. The influence of material properties on the shape fixability in forming processes was investigated. A V-bending process had on optimum ben radius for each combination of parameters which caused maximum shape fixability. In the U-bending process the blank holder force could control the degree of shape fixability. A ha호 blank holding force resulted in a uniform strain distribution and increased shape fixability.
