Polyaniline Emeraldine salt (PANI-salt) prepared by the common chemical oxidative polymerization caused the corrosion of the metallic injection mold by protonic acid such as HCl which used as a dopant. PANI-salt, polyaniline doped with dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid (DBSA), was obtained by the emulsion polymerization in nonpolar organic solvent, toluene. In this study DBSA was used as a dopant along with a surfactant. PANI-salt and high impact polystyrene (HIPS) have a good solubility in toluene. Blends with different ratio of PANI and HIPS were prepared through a solution-cast blending. The structure of PANI-salt was characterized by FT-IR and UV-Vis. The morphology, thermal, and electrical properties for PANI-HIPS blends were investigated. Injection molded under $103^{\circ}C$, 120 psi, PANI-HIPS showed the highest electrical conductivity ($6.02{\times}10^{-5}\;S/cm$) after blending PANI (50 mL) and HIPS (1 g).
In this study, it was prepared for nanofiber with high impact polystyrene(HIPS). HIPS is able to crosslinking after electrospinning with crosslinking agent and it could overcome brittle characteristics of polystyrene(PS). After thermal crosslinking, HIPS nanofiber was sulfonated by sulfuric acid. It was investigated FT-IR, XPS, water uptake, ion exchange capacity(IEC), SEM, and contact angle. According to the result of FT-IR and XPS, it was increased due to introduce the hydrophilic group($SO_3H$) in the HIPS nanofiber. The highest water uptake and IEC were 75.6%, 2.67 meq/ g at 120 min sulfonation time with 7.5 wt% DVB.
Post-consumer dairy HIPS bottles were gathered and recycled by the following processes; crushing into flakes, chemical treatment for the purpose of elimination aluminium caps, washing, and separation from other plastics, such as PP, PE, plasticized PVC These HIPS flakes were extruded into the chips using a single screw extruder. Recyclate HIPS chips were mixed with fly ash as an additive in the range of 5-50 wt%, which were formed from coal power plant. Recyclate HIPS chips mixed with fly ash were molded to investigate thermal and mechanical properties. Their samples, thermal and mechanical properties were measured via DSC, TGA, UTM, and impact strength analysis. The probable mechanical properties exhibited the range of 5∼30% fly ash contents for their applications.
Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are widely used in polymer composites as filler materials to enhance various characteristics of the composites because of their remarkable mechanical, electrical, and thermal properties. In this study, we investigate the effects of MWCNTs on the electrical and wear characteristics of high-impact polystyrene (HIPS) composites, and compare the results with the effects of carbon black (CB). The HIPS composites are classified as Bare-HIPS, MWCNT-HIPS composites containing 2, 3, 4, and 5 wt% MWCNTs, and CB-HIPS containing 17 wt% CB. Electrical characteristics are evaluated by measuring the surface resistance using a 4-point probe. Wear characteristics are evaluated using the reciprocating wear test, and a chrome steel ball with a curvature of 6.3 mm is used as the counterpart. The results show that the addition of MWCNTs or CB can improve the electrical and wear characteristics of HIPS composites. In the case of MWCNT-HIPS composites, surface resistance, friction coefficient, and specific wear rate decrease as the concentrations of MWCNTs increase. Moreover, the addition of MWCNTs is more effective in improving the electrical and wear characteristics of HIPS composites compared to the addition of CB. To fabricate the HIPS composite with appropriate electrical and wear characteristics, more than 4 wt% MWCNTs is added to HIPS.
To recycle collected high-impact polystyrene (HIPS) wastes as liquid fuel, depolymerization characteristics of HIPS by pyrolysis was studied. The effects of temperature and time on the pyrolysis of HIPS were investigated. The depolymerization temperature and activation energy of HIPS pyrolysis increased with increasing heating rate. In general, conversion and liquid yield gradually increased with pyrolysis temperature and pyrolysis time. Each liquid product formed during pyrolysis was classified into gasoline, kerosene, light oil and heavy oil according to the distillation temperature based on the petroleum product quality standard of Korea Petroleum Quality Inspection Institute. As a result, the amount of liquid products produced during HIPS pyrolysis was in the order of gasoline》heavy oil〉kerosene〉light oil. Especially 51${\pm}$6 wt% of HIPS treated was obtained as gasoline.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the clinical and radiographic outcomes with use of short-curved stems versus standard-length single wedged stems over a minimum follow-up period of five years. Materials and Methods: A retrospective study of primary total hip arthroplasties performed using the Fitmore® stem (127 hips, 122 patients) and the M/L taper® stem (195 hips, 187 patients) between October 2012 and June 2014 was conducted. The clinical and radiographic outcomes were obtained for evaluation over a minimum follow-up period of five years. Results: In both the Fitmore® and M/L taper® groups, the mean Harris hip score improved from 52.4 and 48.9 preoperatively to 93.3 and 94.5 at the final follow-up, respectively (P=0.980). The mean Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index scores also improved from 73.3 and 76.8 preoperatively to 22.9 and 25.6 at the final follow-up, respectively (P=0.465). Fifteen hips (Fitmore®: 14 hips; M/L taper®: one hip, P<0.001) developed intraoperative cracks and were treated simultaneously with cerclage wiring. Radiography showed a radiolucent line in 24 hips in the Fitmore® group and 12 hips in the M/L taper® group (P=0.125). Cortical hypertrophy was detected in 29 hips (Fitmore® group: 28 hips; M/L taper® group: one hip, P<0.001). Conclusion: Similarly favorable clinical and radiographic outcomes were achieved with use of both short-curved stems and standard-length single wedged stems. However, higher cortical hypertrophy and a higher rate of femoral crack were observed with use of Fitmore® stems.
The surface gloss of the injection molded part is one of the most significant point for evaluation the quality of products appearance. The effects of molding condition on the gloss of HIPS(High Impact Poly Styrene) molded part were investigated in this work. The measurements of gloss on the surface of molded part were carried out with different melt temperature, mold temperature, injection pressure and holding pressure. We observed the result of HIPS gloss compared with our's previous ABS study. The more melt and mold temperature increased, the brighter the gloss increase. Holding and injection pressure had little effect on the gloss. The gloss was effected in order of melt temperature, mold temperature, injection pressure, holding pressure.

Recently, HIPS(High Impact Polystyrene) materials are spot-lighted as office equipment, home electronics, electronics appliances housing, packing containers, etc. But its using are occur to problem caused by fatigue fracture. However, its strength is larged affected by environmental conditions. So, in this paper it tried to analyze the effect of temperature by tensile test and fatigue test. It was observed that yield strength and ultimate strength, fatigue life of same stress decreased relatively with increase temperature. Further, this paper predict S-N curve using the result of tensile test and micro vickers hardness test. For this purpose, the management in the engineering department is able to design the fatigue life of HIPS(HR-1360) materials.

Charge transport phenomena of polyaniline-DBSA/High Impact Polystyrene (PAM-DBSA/HIPS) blends have been studied through an examination of electrical conduction. HIPS used host polymer in the blends and PANI-DBSA obey a space charge limited conduction mechanism and a ohmic conduction mechanism respectively. However, PANI-DBSA/HIPS blends do not obey any classical conduction mechanism. Analysis of conduction mechanism revealed that the charging current of PANI-DBSA/HIPS blends increased with the increase of PANI-DBSA content. This result migrlt be explained by the reduction in the distance between PANI-DBSA particles enabling the charge carriers to migrate from a chain to a neighboring chain via hopping or micro tunneling. It was also found that the charging current of PANI-DBSA/HIPS blends decreased as the temperature was elevated, which is of typical phenomena in metals. It is speculated that the charge transport in PANI-DBSA particle was somewhat constrained due to strong phonon scattering.
A study has been done to enhance the mechanical properties and processability of electrically conductive polyaniline(PANI) without the polymer's structural alternation. Functionalized acid doped PANI (PANI-DBSA) was prepared by an emulsion polymerization, and dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid (DBSA) played both roles of surfactant and dopant. Also, PANI-DBSA was solution cast blended with high impact polystyrene (HIPS) to produce PANI-DBSA/HIPS blend film. The structure and electrical properties of the conducting polymer blends were observed through UV-vis and FTIR/ATR spectroscopy. A study of the blend was carried by focusing on observation of mechanical and electrical properties based on dispersibility and changes in polymer morphology. The conductivity of the blends was increased by increasing the content of PANI-DBSA, and the sudden increase of conductivity to $3.5{\times}10^{-4}$ S/cm was observed even under a low content of 9 wt%. There was a strong association of continuous network formation with percolation and conductivity in the conducting polymer blends.
