  • This study provides abasis for the development of high functional cycle wear with clothing comfort and fitness for highschool boy cyclists by a comparison of the somatotype of highschool boys cyclists and general highschool boys. This study directly measured 44 anthropometric targeted cyclists across Korea. "The sixth national standard physical survey" data targeted 16 to 18-year-old male adolescents; subsequently, anthropometric measurement data was provided by 766 people for research. Highschool boy cyclists used t-test to compare the differences in body type. The results in this study are follows. Highschool boys cyclists(compared to regular highschool boys) indicated a great somatotype stature and weight. The differences in the cervical height and the acromion height results of, cyclist appeared smaller. Cyclists angle of shoulder was smaller. The upper body of highschool boys cyclist was greater than the difference between chest breadth and bust breadth with along biacromion length. The waist front length of the cyclist was a short cycle ride upon the attitude of the streamlined. Highschool boy cyclists indicated that the muscles of the arm portion was more developed compared to general highschool boys. The lower body had less abdominal fat with a significantly developed thigh and calf.

  • During a six-month period (autumn 2014 within the framework of a research & education project) we have constructed a professional double-station video-meteor detection network at the SOAO and BOAO mountain summits. Meteor detection is achieved by pixel-to-pixel motion-detection trigger. Each station is nearly autonomous and has three cameras with fixed viewing angles monitoring part of the night-sky over Korea. Various field of views are in use for testing purpose and captured video-meteor data is automatically transferred to a central FTP server on a nightly basis. Data is publicly available. The network has been operational since September 2014 and could serve as a prototype system for a more extended national network for meteor/fireball monitoring and detection in Korean airspace. We will report on the network construction, technical setup and present first results of detected meteors and fireballs. Further information: Meteors@KASI: http://meteor.kasi.re.kr.

  • The purpose of this study was examine the determinants of highschool students' health behavior. A convenient sample of 2nd grade highschool students (N=638) responded to self-report questionnaires. The IMCHB was then tested with data using SAS program by frequency, t-test, ANOVA, regression. The results were as follows 1. Health behaviors were found to be type of school specific. 2. From the general highschool's model, student's health affected health perception and mother's health and father's education affected self esteem among a set of background variables. Health perception and self-esteem are related to health behaviors. 16.8% of the varience in regular highschool student's health behavior are explained by health perception and self-esteem. 3. From the vocational highschool's model, 20.2% of health behavior varience was explained by self-esteem. Mothers' education, health perception and self esteem explained internal motivation. Student's health, internal motivation and self-esteem explained health perception. The results indicated that there was a relatively poor fit of the IMCHB to the highschool students' data.

  • Kyung Hee university invented the Transformable Reflective Telescope (TRT) for optical experiment and education. The TRT kit can transform into three optical configurations from Newtonian to Cassegrain to Gregorian by exchanging the secondary mirror. We designed the Ebert-Fastie spectrograph as an extension of the TRT kit. The primary mirror of the TRT kit serves as both collimator and camera lens, and the reflective grating as the dispersing element is placed along the optical axis of the primary mirror. We designed and fabricated the grating holder and the source units using 3D printer. Baffle was also fabricated to suppress the stray light, which was reduced by 83%. The spectrograph can observe the optical wavelength range (4000Å~7000Å). Measured resolving power (R=λ/Δλ) was ~700 with slit width of 0.18mm. The spectrograph is optimized for f/24, and the spectral pixel scale is 0.49Å/pixel with Canon 550D detector. We present the sample spectra of discharged Ne, Ar and Kr gases. The flexible setting and high performance make this spectrograph a useful tool for education and experiment.

  • The history of mathematics is an important part of Chinese highschool mathematics curriculum. The current 2003 revised curriculum in China refers directly to the history of mathematics and presents it as one of the optional series. Moreover, they publish separate history textbooks for mathematics according to the 2003 revised curriculum. The importance of the history of mathematics in Chinese highschool curriculum, which was revised in 2017, has increased. This study aims to analyze the contents of the highschool curriculum and mathematics history textbooks, which were revised in 2003. Based on the results of analysis, we make suggestions on the use of mathematics history for teaching mathematics in Korea.

  • 21st century has begun as an age of green growth. Development paradigms disregarding environmental sustainability are being changed and henceforth, stronger efforts should be made to discover and utilize green values. With the importance of green values, rural amenity which is in the spotlight as a new channel to change the way people think about depressed agriculture and rural community could be the key to discover green values of rural area. This study is to emphasize rural amenity and to rectify prejudiced and distorted contents of agriculture and rural community in agricultural highschool textbooks. By doing this, students of agricultural highschool who will lead agriculture in the future will come to recognize the importance of agriculture and rural area and discovering it's values. This study was done through analysis and development of contents in 39 kinds of textbooks of Agricultural highschool. A content analysis was employed to examine to what extent the contents on agriculture and rural community were reflected in the textbooks of agriculture highschool. And 262 new education contents formulating positive and exact rural amenity concept were developed and 62 of them were included in textbooks.

  • Existing design education in industrial highschool is heavily dependent on formal education, which is far from teaching practical technique. In other words, Current curriculum of industrial highschool is going all out to place emphasis on the necessity of design education and ignores its failures or problems. Factually, although students of industrial high school should procure training in basic skills that they will need to quality for good jobs in later life, there don't put into practice substantial education. Accordingly, this study will develope Supplementary Class for substantial and effective design education in industrial highschool on the focus of proper technical education which domestic companies need. Especially, the researcher selected web design education which is favored the most by companies in information society, which is adopting as a required course in industrial highschool.

  • This study verified the differences of thinking styles between science highschool students and general students in reference to academic achievement. The subjects of this study are 211 high school students, who were composed of 122 science school students and 93 general school students. The significant results of this study are as follows: First, science highschool students showed more distinguishable differences in thinking style than general highschool students. Second, the former rather than the latter is revealed to be more variable in thinking styles explaining academic achievement. Next, in case of science highschool students, thinking style which is affected by intelligence is turned out to be an indirect factor influencing academic achievement. Finally, I verified the importance of distinction of science highschool students and the usefulness of thinking styles, gave suggestions on the reformation and direction of current school education of science-gifted students.

  • We give a detailed description of the installation and operation of a double-station meteor detection system which formed part of a research & education project between Korea Astronomy Space Science Institute (KASI) and Daejeon Science Highschool. A similar system is currently not existing in South Korea. A total of six light-sensitive CCD cameras were installed with three cameras at SOAO and three cameras at BOAO observatory. A double-station observation of a meteor event enables the determination of the three-dimensional heliocentric orbit in space. This project was initiated in response to the Jinju fireball event in March 2014. The cameras were installed in October/November 2014. The two stations are identical in hardware as well as software. Each station employes sensitive "Watec-902H2" cameras in combination with relatively fast f/1.2 lenses. Various fields of views were used for measuring differences in detection rates of meteor events. We employed the SonotaCo UFO software suite for meteor detection and their subsequent analysis. The system setup as well as installation/operation experience is described and first results are presented. We also give a brief overview of historic as well as recent meteor (fall) detections in South Korea. For more information please consult http://meteor.kasi.re.kr.
