The 180 minutes fire test based on the standard curve of ISO-834 were conducted on three RC column specimens with different constant axial loading ratios to evaluate the fire performance of fiber cocktail (polypropylene+steel fiber) reinforced high strength concrete column. The columns were tested under three loading levels as 40%, 50%, and 61% of the design load. No explosive spalling has been observed and the original color of specimen surface has been changed to light pinkish grey. The maximum axial displacements of three specimens were 1.5~2.2 mm. There was no reduction in load bearing capacity of each specimen exposed to fire and no effect were observed on the fire performance within 61% of the design load. The tendencies of the results with loading, such as the temperature distribution of in concrete and the changes in temperature rise due to the water vaporization in concrete, are very similar to those without loading. The final temperatures of steel rebar after 180 minutes of fire test resulted in 491.4${^{\circ}C}$ for corner rebar, 329.0${^{\circ}C}$ for center rebar, and 409.8${^{\circ}C}$ for total mean of steel rebar. The difference of mean temperature between corner and center rebar was 153.7${^{\circ}C}$ㅍ. The tendency of temperature rise in concrete and steel rebar changed after 30~50 minutes from the starting time of the fire test because the heat energy influx into corner rebar is larger than that into center rebar. The cause of decrease in temperature rise was due to the water vaporization in concrete, the lower temperature gradient of the concrete with steel and polypropylene fiber cocktails, the moisture movement toward steel rebars and the moisture clogging.

This paper studies impact performance of wire-mesh and steel fiber-reinforced concrete based on high-velocity impact experiments using hard spherical balls. In this experimental study, panel specimens were tested with various parameters such as steel fiber volume fraction, presence/absence of wire mesh, panel thickness, impact velocity, and aggregate size for the comparison of impact resistance performance for each specimen. While improvement of the impact resistance for reducing the penetration depth is barely affected with steel fiber volume fraction, the impact resistance to scabbing and perforation is improved substantially. This was due to the fact that the steel fiber had bridging effects in concrete matrix. The wire mesh helped minimizing the crater diameter of front and back face and enhanced the impact resistance to scabbing and perforation; however, the wire mesh did not affect the penetration depth. The wire mesh also reduced the bending deformation of the specimen with wire mesh, though some specimens had splitting bond failure on the rear face. Additionally, use of 20 mm aggregates is superior to 8 mm aggregates in terms of penetration depth, but for reducing the crater diameter on front and back faces, the use of 8 mm aggregates would be more efficient.
The flexural behavior test of UHPC segmental box girder which has 160 MPa compressive strength and 15.4 m length was carried out. The effect of steel fibers in combination with reinforcing bars on improving the ductile performance of UHPC box girder was evaluated by comparing the flexural behavior of the UHPC segmental box girders made by the two kinds of mixing portion. The test variables are volume fraction of steel fibers and the arrangement of reinforcing bars. The behavior of UHPC box girder BF2 composed of 1% volume fraction of steel fibers and longitudinal reinforcing bars in web and upper flange with stirrup showed the similar ductile behavior with the girder BF1 composed of 2% volume fraction without stirrup in elastic stress region. But BF1 had the better stiffness and showed the more ductile behavior in inelastic stress region. Segmental interfaces of UHPC box girder have not any crack and slide until the final flexural collapse load.

In this study, lap spliced ultra-high strength reinforced concrete beams were tested and the code criteria for calculating the lap splice length which was affected by the transverse reinforcement and concrete covering performance were reviewed. The main variables for test were set as fiber volume fraction and transverse reinforcing bar arrangement to improve the confining performance of the concrete cover. The change of the confining performance of concrete cover according to the increase in the fiber mixing amount at 1% and 2% volume ratio was examined, and D10 stirrups with a spacing of 100 mm were placed in the lap spliced region. As a result of the test, the specimens confined by the stirrups showed a sudden drop of load bearing capacity with horizontal cracking at the position of tensile longitudinal reinforcement. However, horizontal cracks were not appeared at the location of longitudinal reinforcement for the specimens with steel fiber. And these specimens showed gradual decrease of load bearing capacity after experiencing peak load. In particular, it was found that the strain at the position of the tensile longitudinal reinforcements of the specimens to which the mixing ratio of 2% was applied exceeds the yield strain. As a result of measuring the strain on the concrete surface, it was found that the fiber was more effective in preventing damage to the concrete surface than the stirrups for short lap spliced region.

Precast concrete blocks are used mainly for score protection, slope protection and riverbed structure protection, etc. Because these concrete blocks are exposed to water or wetting environments, the steel rebar used as reinforcements in concrete blocks can corrode easily. Corrosion of the steel rebar tends to reduce the performance and service life of the concrete blocks. In this study, Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer(GFRP) rebar, which does not corrode, was applied instead of a steel rebar to prevent performance degradation of the blocks. Recycled concrete aggregate and high early strength cement(HESC) were used in the concrete mix for field applicability. The experiment results showed that the workability and form removal strength of the recycled aggregate concrete using HESC showed comparable results to normal concrete and the compressive strength at 28 days increased by about 18% compared to normal concrete. The load resistance capacity of the recycled aggregate concrete blocks reinforced with a GFRP rebar increased by approximately 10~30% compared to common concrete block.
Cracks due to low tensile strength in prestressed concrete (PC) beams may decrease rigidity and structural performance, resulting in excessive deflection. In an effort to solve this problem, in this research, prestressed dual concrete (PDC) has been proposed, consisting of normal strength concrete in compression zone, and high performance steel fiber reinforced concrete(HPSFRC) with a partial depth in tensile zone. Three PDC beams with different depths of HPSFRC and two PC beams were cast for experiments. Analytical models at each stage, i.e., precracking, postcracking, and ultimate, were proposed for analysis of flexural behavior in PDC beams. The experimental results agree well to the analytical ones. Crack formation and its propagation are controlled by the HPSFRC in PDC beams. The initial cracking and service limit loads are increased along with the load carrying capacity and flexural stiffness.

The proposed techniques to repair concrete members such as steel plates, fiber-reinforced polymers or concrete have important deficiencies in adherence and durability. The use of ultra high performance fiber concrete (UHPFC) can overtake effectively these problems. In this paper, the possibility of using UHPFC to strengthen reinforced concrete beams under torsion is investigated. Seven specimens of concrete beams reinforced with longitudinal and transverse reinforcements. One of these beams consider as control specimen while the others was strengthened by UHPFC on four, three, and two sides. This study includes experimental results of all beams with different types of configurations and thickness of UHPFC. As well as, finite element analysis was conducted in tandem with experimental test. Results reveal the effectiveness of the proposed technique at cracking and ultimate torque for different beam strengthening configurations, torque - twist graphs and crack patterns. The UHPFC can generally be used as an effective external torsional reinforcement for RC beams. It was noted that the behavior of the beams strengthen with UHPFC are better than the control beams. This increase was proportional to the retrofitted beam sides. The use of UHPFC had effect in delaying the growth of crack formation. The finite element analysis is reasonably agreement with the experimental data.
In this study, performance of fiber-reinforced polymer-modified mortar was studied for the development of eco-friendly materials for high performance repair and reinforcement. The general cement mortar and eco-friendly UM resin was mixed with a certain percentage for increased durability. To increase the strength of the polymer-modified mortar, PVA fiber, steel fiber and hybrid fiber were added at a constant rate. Hybrid fiber is contains the same percentage of PVA fiber and steel fiber. In order to determine the strength properties of fiber-reinforced polymer-modified mortar, the compressive strength test, the splitting tensile strength test and the flexural strength test were performed. And, in order to determine the durability properties of fiber-reinforced polymer-modified mortar, water absorption test and chemical resistance test were performed. From the experimental results, polymer-modified mortar using UM resin was improved durability. And the tensile strength and flexural strength increased, which were the vulnerability of fiber reinforced polymer-modified mortar. From this study, fiber-reinforced polymer-modified mortar using eco-friendly UM resin can be used to repair and reinforcement for the external exposure of concrete structures to improve the durability.

This paper describes the need for a ductile of Fiber Reinforced Plastic(FRP) reinforcement for concrete structures. The criteria to be met by the FRP, which are based on the properties of the steel rebar it is to replace, are threefold: high initial modulus, a definite yield point and a high level of ultimate strain. It is shown that the use of a fiber architecture based design methodology facilitates the optimization of the performance of FRP through material and geometric hybrid. Ductile hybrid FRP bars were successfully fabricated at 3mm and 5mm nominal diameters using an in-line braiding and pultrusion process.

Steel braced frames retrofit method has been broadly used due to their effectiveness in both light weight and construction periods. However, steel braced frames retrofit method has difficulties in application on the inner frames of buildings to be retrofitted consequently, there have been demands for the braced frames retrofit method that can be broadly and easily applicable to both inner and outer frames of the buildings. The objective of this study is to develop and evaluate the seismic retrofit method applicable to the inner frame also by dividing the reinforcing frames into three unit. From the cyclic test of specimens, the test results dearly showed that steel brace using HPFRCCs and steel bars ensure the better cyclic compressive performance than the normal braced members.
