  • Tensile softening characteristics play an important role in the structural behavior of steel fiber-reinforced ultra high performance concrete. Tension softening modeling and numerical analysis method are necessary for the prediction of structural performance of steel fiber-reinforced concrete. The numerical method to predict the flexural behavior is proposed in this study. Tension softening modeling is carried out by using crack equation based on fictitious crack and inverse analysis in which load-crack opening displacement relationship is considered. Thereafter material modeling is performed considering tension softening. The comparison of moment-curvature curves of the numerical analysis results with the test results indicates a reasonable agreement. Therefore, the present numerical results prove that good prediction of flexural behavior of steel fiber-reinforced ultra high performance concrete beams can be achieved by employing the proposed method.

  • Ultra High Performance Concrete(UHPC) is a construction material that has a low water-binder ratio (W/B), a high-performance chemical admixture(SP), mixing material and steel fiber, and performance superior to that of regular concrete in terms of liquidity and strength. In the study, UHPC was used to prepare construction external panels that can replace existing stone panels. In addition, experiments were conducted to access the effects of differences in chemical admixture input amount, the number of fillers, antifoaming agent and steel fiber. An evaluation, was conducted, such of concrete compressive strength, flexural strength, impact strength, absorption rate, and frost resistance. The results showed compressive strength up to 115.5MPa, flexural strength of 20.3MPa, and an absorption rate of 1%. In this case, impact strength and frost resistance evaluation were satisfied with outward observed.

  • In this paper, hybrid fibers including high elastic modulus steel fiber and low elastic modulus synthetic macro-fiber (HPP) as two elements were used as reinforcement materials in concrete. The flexural toughness, flexural impact and fracture performance of the composites were investigated systematically. Flexural impact strength was analyzed with statistic analyses method; based on ASTM and JSCE method, an improved flexural toughness evaluating method suitable for concrete with synthetic macro-fiber was proposed herein. The experimental results showed that when the total fiber volume fractions ($V_f^a$) were kept as a constant ($V_f^a=1.5%$), compared with single type of steel or HPP fibers, hybrid fibers can significantly improve the toughness, flexural impact life and fracture properties of concrete. Relative residual strength RSI', impact ductile index ${\lambda}$ and fracture energy $G_F$ of concrete combined with hybrid fibers were respectively 66-80%, 5-12 and 121-137 N/m, which indicated that the synergistic effects (or combined effects) between steel fiber and synthetic macro-fiber were good.

  • The primary purpose of this study is to investigate experimentally the effect of steel fiber reinforcement on the total energy dissipation capacity of R/C flexural members and to make a contribution to the construction of 40~60 story R/C high rise building by developing the new materials and reinforcing details which can improve the seismic performance of high-strength R/C beam-column joints. Experimental research was carried out on 4 type specimen under cyclic loading. Main variables are steel fiber reinforcement, intermediate reinforcements and yield strength of rebars. From the test results, steel fiber reinforcement can improve the ductility of R/C flexural members.

  • This paper investigates the effect of high strength hooked-end steel fiber content and aspect ratio on the compressive and flexural performance of concrete. A total of ten mixtures were prepared and tested. Concretes with specific compressive strength of 30 MPa were reinforced with three different aspect ratios (l/d) of steel fibers 64, 67, and 80 and three different percentages of steel fibers 0.25, 0.50, and 0.75% by volume of concrete. Tensile strengths of steel fibers with l/d of 64, 67, and 80 are 2,000, 2,400, and 2,100 MPa, respectively. The compressive and flexural properties of plain and steel fiber-reinforced concrete (SFRC) mixtures were evaluated and compared. The experimental results indicated that the incorporation of high-strength hooked-end steel fibers had significant effects on the compressive and flexural performance of concrete. With the increase of steel fiber content, compressive performances, such as Poisson's ratio and toughness, of concrete were improved. The steel fibers with the least l/d of 67 resulted in a larger enhancement of compressive performances. The residual flexural strength, that is, post-cracking flexural resistance and toughness, of concrete is mainly depended on the dosage and aspect ratio of steel fibers. The residual flexural strength at serviceability (SLS) and ultimate limit state (ULS) defined in fib Model Code 2010 (MC2010) is increased as the fiber content and aspect ratio increase.

  • This study is aimed for manufacturing a High performance Concrete(HPC) Pile as using steel fibers, investigation the mechanical properties of HPC Pile and proposition the potential application. At this study. We found that mechanical properties(cracking moment and fracture moment) of Pretensioned spun High strength Concrete (PHC) Pile using steel fibers is much superior to without steel fibers. Therefore. we think that using steel fibers in Concrete Pile is to progress flexural strength energy absorption capacity and post-cracking resistance.

  • Generally the ultra-high strength steel reinforced concrete has rich mix composition composed of high-strength type mineral admixtures and as a result of very low water-binder ratio(about under w/b=25%), it reveals ultra-high compressive strength(about over 100Mpa). Also, in order to obtain sufficient toughness after construction, we usually mix a large quantity steel fiber with ultra-high strength steel reinforced concrete therefore we must use proper mixer for workability. When we make the ultra-high strength steel reinforced concrete we need more long mixing time or much super-plasticizer than when we manufacture normal concrete. These bring about economical problems and performance deterioration. Therefore, in this study, in order to manufacture easily ultra-high strength steel reinforced concrete we develope a dedicated mixer for ultra-high strength steel reinforced concrete with high speed type. It carried out the examination for comparison between the dedicated and general type mixer, the analysis and counterplan of the point at issue when we manufacture ultra-high strength steel reinforced concrete by the dedicated mixer.

  • During the past decades, development of reinforcing materials caused a revolution in the structure of high strength and high performance cement-based concrete. Among the most important and exciting reinforcing materials, Steel Fiber (SF) becomes a widely used in the recent years. The main reason for addition of SF is to enhance the toughness and tensile strength and limit development and propagation of cracks and deformation characteristics of the SF blended concrete. Basically this technique of strengthening the concrete structures considerably modifies the physical and mechanical properties of plain cement-based concrete which is brittle in nature with low flexural and tensile strength compared to its intrinsic compressive strength. This paper presents an overview of the work carried out on the use of SF as reinforcement in cement-based concrete matrix. Reported properties in this study are fresh properties, mechanical and durability of the blended concretes.

  • Accordingly architectural structure is getting high-rise and bigger, a use of high strength and high performance concrete has been increased. High performance concrete has cons of explosion in a fire. This explosion in the fire can cause the loss of the sheath on a concrete surface, therefore it effects that increasing a rate of heat transmission between the steel bar and inner concrete. Preventing this explosion of high performance concrete in the fire, many kinds of researches are now in progressing. Typically, researches with using polypropylene-fiber and steel-fiber can prove controling the explosion, but the reduction of mobility was posed as a problem of workability. Consequently, to solve the problem as mentioned above, concrete cans secure fire resisting capacity through the using of coating liquid, including Ester-lubricant and non-ionic characteristic surfactant. This research has been drawn a ideal condition in compressive strength areas of concrete by an experiment. When applying 13mm of polyamide fiber, proper fiber mixing volume by compressive strength areas of concrete more than 2.5kg in 160MPa. These amount of a compound can control the explosion.
