Advanced Block Matching Algorithm for Motion Estimation and Motion Compensation

  • The partial distortion elimination (PDE) scheme is used to decrease the sum of absolute difference (SAD) computational complexity, since the SAD calculation has been taken much potion of the video compression. In motion estimation (ME) based on PDE, it is ideal that the initial value of SAD in summing performance has large value. The traditional scan order methods have many operation time and high operational complexity because these adopted the division or multiplication. In this paper, we introduce the new scan order and search order by using only adder. We define the average value which is called to rough average value (RAVR). Which is to reduce the computational complexity and increase the operational speed and then we can obtain the improvement of SAD performance. And also this RAVR is used to decide the search order sequence, since the difference RAVR between the current block and candidate block is small then this candidate block has high probability to suitable candidate. Thus, our proposed algorithm combines above two main concepts and suffers the improving SAD performance and the easy hardware implementation methods.

Tensor-based tag emotion aware recommendation with probabilistic ranking

  • In our previous research, we proposed a tag emotion-based item recommendation scheme. The ternary associations among users, items, and tags are described as a three-order tensor in order to capture the emotions in tags. The candidates for recommendation are created based on the latent semantics derived by a high-order singular value decomposition technique (HOSVD). However, the tensor is very sparse because the number of tagged items is smaller than the amount of all items. The previous research do not consider the previous behaviors of users and items. To mitigate the problems, in this paper, the item-based collaborative filtering scheme is used to build an extended data. We also apply the probabilistic ranking algorithm considering the user and item profiles to improve the recommendation performance. The proposed method is evaluated based on Movielens dataset, and the results show that our approach improves the performance compared to other methods.

  • The bubble stabilization technique of Chebyshev-Legendre high-order element methods for one dimensional advection-diffusion equation is analyzed for the proposed scheme by Canuto and Puppo in [8]. We also analyze the finite element lower-order preconditioner for the proposed stabilized linear system. Further, the numerical results are provided to support the developed theories for the convergence and preconditioning.

Comparison of model order reductions using Krylov and modal vectors for transient analysis under seismic loading

  • Generally, it is necessary to perform transient structural analysis in order to verify and improve the seismic performance of high-rise buildings and bridges against earthquake loads. In this paper, we propose the model order reduction (MOR) method using the Krylov vectors to perform seismic analysis for linear and elastic systems in an efficient way. We then compared the proposed method with the mode superposition method (MSM) by using the limited numbers of modal vectors (or eigenvectors) calculated from the modal analysis. In the calculation, the data of the El Centro earthquake in 1940 were adopted for the seismic loading in the transient analysis. The numerical accuracy and efficiency of the two methods were compared in detail in the case of a simplified high-rise building.

Application of data-driven model reduction techniques in reactor neutron field calculations

  • High-order harmonic techniques can be used to recreate neutron flux distributions in reactor cores using the neutron diffusion equation. However, traditional source iteration and source correction iteration techniques have sluggish convergence rates and protracted calculation periods. The correctness of the implicitly restarted Arnoldi method (IRAM) in resolving the eigenvalue problems of the one-dimensional and two-dimensional neutron diffusion equations was confirmed by computing the benchmark problems SLAB_1D_1G and two-dimensional steady-state TWIGL using IRAM. By integrating Galerkin projection with Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD) techniques, a POD-Galerkin reduced-order model was developed and the IRAM model was used as the full-order model. For 14 macroscopic cross-section values, the TWIGL benchmark problem was perturbed within a 20% range. We extracted 100 sample points using the Latin hypercube sampling method, and 70% of the samples were used as the testing set to assess the performance of the reduced-order model The remaining 30% were utilized as the training set to develop the reduced-order model, which was employed to rebuild the TWIGL benchmark problem. The reduced-order model demonstrates good flexibility and can efficiently and accurately forecast the effective multiplication factor and neutron flux distribution in the core. The reduced-order model predicts keff and neutron flux distribution with a high degree of agreement compared to the full-order model. Additionally, the reduced-order model's computation time is only 10.18% of that required by the full-order model.The neutron flux distribution of the steady-state TWIGL benchmark was recreated using the reduced-order model. The obtained results indicate that the reduced-order model can accurately predict the keff and neutron flux distribution of the steady-state TWIGL benchmark.Overall, the proposed technique not only has the potential to accurately project neutron flux distributions in transient settings, but is also relevant for reconstructing neutron flux distributions in steady-state conditions; thus, its applicability is bound to increase in the future.

다중 안테나와 Doppler Shift를 고려한 고속 철도의 경로 손실 모델 (Path Loss Model with Multiple-Antenna and Doppler Shift for High Speed Railroad Communication)

  • 본 논문에서는 다중 안테나를 사용한 고속철도 환경의 경로 손실 모델을 제안 하였다. 기본적으로 고속 철도의 모든 특성들 사이에서, 경로 손실(path loss)는 고속 철도 통신 시스템의 설계에서 매우 중요하다. 현재까지 진행되어진 연구 중 대다수는 경로 손실 모델은 송신단과 수신단 사이이의 지리적 환경을 고려한 모델은 많았지만 다중 안테나를 사용한 시스템과 Doppler effect를 고려한 환경에서의 연구는 상대적으로 적게 고려되어 왔다. Doppler shift에 평균 residuals고려하는 모델링을 위해 사용되는 조정된 자유 공간 손실 모델(tuned free-space path loss model)은 최대 이동 속도가 340km인 ZhengZhou - Xi'an 간 전용선에서의 측정값을 활용하고 다중 안테나의 평균 residuals은 MRC 기법을 사용했을 시의 이론적 계산값을 다이버시티 이득을 활용한다. 통신 시스템상의 두 가지 요인으로 발생하는 평균 residuals을 추정하여 제안하는 모델은 다중 안테나를 사용한 시스템에서 수신 신호의 손실을 예측한다.

소프트콘택트렌즈 재질에 따른 눈물막 파괴시간과 고위수차의 비교 (Comparison of tear film break-up time and high order aberration according to soft contact lens material)

  • Purpose. In this study, two types of soft contact lenses with different materials were selected to compare the time of tear film destruction and high order aberrations before and after wearing. Methods. Thirty patients (60 eyes) in their 20s were included in this study. Two lenses with different materials, Group 4 (Etafilcon A) and Group 5 (Narafilcon A) were selected. Using aberration analyzer and keratometry, high-order aberration and tear film test (NIF-BUT, NIAvg-BUT) were performed before and after wearing. Results. When comparing the higher aberrations of the Etafilcon A and Narafilcon A lenses, the higher aberrations of the Narafilcon A lens were higher overall. For the initial tear film break-up time (NIF-BUT) after wearing, the Etafilcon A lens was reduced by 4.0 seconds and the Narafilcon A lens increased by 0.6 seconds. For the mean tear film break-up time (NIAvg-BUT) after wearing, the Etafilcon A lens decreased by 2.4 seconds and the Narafilcon A lens increased by 1.7 seconds. Conclusions. NIF-BUT and NIAvg-BUT of Narafilcon A lens were increased. The lens with relatively low water content and higher oxygen permeability than the lens with high water content has relatively less tear evaporation, which means that the time of destruction of the tear film is increased.

  • The conventional sliding mode controller (SMCr) approach is often impractical or difficult when applied to high order process because the number of tuning parameters in the SMCr increases with the order of the plant. Camacho(1996) proposed the design of a fixed structure sliding mode controller based on a first order plus dead time approximation to the higher-order process. But, there are such problems as overshoot, settling time and command following. They are mainly due to the approximation errors of the time delay term by Taylor series. In this paper, in order to improve Camcho's method, a new Taylor approximation technique considering a weight is proposed.

A GaAs Power MESFET Operating at 3.3V Drain Voltage for Digital Hand-Held Phone

  • A GaAs power metal semiconductor field effect transistor (MESFET) operating at a voltage as low as 3.3V has been developed with the best performance for digital handheld phone. The device has been fabricated on an epitaxial layer with a low-high doped structure grown by molecular beam epitaxy. The MESFET, fabricated using $0.8{\mu}m$ design rule, showed a maximum drain current density of 330 mA/mm at $V_{gs}$ =0.5V and a gate-to-drain breakdown volt-age of 28 V. The MESFET tested at a 3.3 V drain bias and a 900 MHz operation frequency displayed an output power of 32.5-dBm and a power added efficiency of 68%. The associate power gain at 20 dBm input power and the linear gain were 12.5dB and 16.5dB, respectively. Two tone testing measured at 900.00MHz and 900.03MHz showed that a third-order intercept point is 49.5 dBm. The power MESFET developed in this work is expected to be useful as a power amplifying device for digital hand-held phone because the high linear gain can deliver a high power added efficiency in the linear operation region of output power and the high third-order intercept point can reduce the third-order intermodulation.
