This paper presents a novel soft-switching PWM utility frequency AC to high frequency AC power conversion circuit Incorporating boost-half-bridge inverter topology, which is more suitable and acceptable for cost effective consumer induction heating applications. The operating principle and the operation modes are presented using the switching mode and the operating voltage and current waveforms. The performances of this high-frequency inverter using the latest IGBTs are illustrated, which includes high frequency power regulation and actual efficiency characteristics based on zero voltage soft switching (ZVS) operation ranges and the power dissipation as compared with those of the previously developed high-frequency inverter. In addition, a dual mode control scheme of this high frequency inverter based on asymmetrical pulse width modulation (PWM) and pulse density modulation (PDM) control scheme is discussed in this paper in order to extend the soft switching operation ranges and to improve the power conversion efficiency at the low power settings. The power converter practical effectiveness is substantially proved based on experimental results from practical design example.

In this paper, we proposed a soft switched synchronous boost converter, which can perform discharging the battery, is proposed. The proposed converter has low switching loss even at high frequency operation due to its soft switching characteristics. The converter operates in synchronous mode to minimize conduction loss because of changing the rectified diode to MOSFET with a low on resistance. In this reason, the efficiency of the converter can be greatly improved in high frequency. In this paper, the battery discharger with a switching frequency of 100 kHz, has been designed. The designed converter also simulated to prove the converter's characteristics of synchronous operation as well as soft switching operation. The simulation shows that the proposed converter always meets the soft switching conditions of turning on and off switching in the zero voltage and zero current states. Therefore, simulation results have confirmed that the proposed battery discharge had soft switching characteristics. The simulation results have confirmed that the proposed battery discharger had soft switching and synchronous operation characteristics.
This paper describes a boost converter cascaded high frequency link direct do-ac converter suitable for fuel cell power sources. A new multi-loop control for a boost converter to reduce the low frequency input current harmonics drawn from fuel cell is proposed. A new PWM technique for the cycloconverter at the secondary to reject the low order harmonics in the output voltages is presented in detail.

In the conventional E-bike, a 42 V/10 A Li-ion battery drives a 24 V/10 A BLDC motor via a 6-switch PWM DC/AC inverter. The major problems of the conventional battery-fed motor drive systems are listed as follows. To charge the battery, an external battery charger (adapter) is required, which degrades the portability of E-bike users. In addition, given the high-frequency operation of the motor drive inverter, the switching losses are significant, which degrades the whole power efficiency. High-voltage batteries (42 V) require a complex battery management system (BMS), which degrades the reliability of the battery pack. In this paper, an embedded boost-converter battery charger for E-bikes is proposed. The variable output boost converter, which converts 16.8 V battery voltage to the required variable voltage of the inverter input, can use a low-voltage battery and thus improve the reliability of batteries. By varying the inverter input voltage via boost converter, a DC link voltage control method can be applied to reduce the switching frequency of the inverter, which improves the whole power efficiency. Given that the function of a flyback charger is integrated in the proposed boost converter, the portability of the E-bike user can be maximized by excluding an external adapter. The validity of the proposed circuit will be confirmed by operation mode analysis and simulation. Moreover, experimental results of integrative charger using Li-ion battery and 200 W motor test will be showed with a prototype sample as well.
In this paper, a non-isolated high step-up and high efficiency boost converter is proposed. By using the 3-level boost converter structure, the proposed converter can obtain higher voltage gain than conventional high step-up converters. The voltage spike of the switching device is well clamped by using the clamp circuit composed of a clamp diode and a capacitor and the energy of the leakage inductor of coupled inductor is effectively transferred to output. Due to the 3-level structure, the equivalent switching frequency of the coupled inductor is doubled, which results in reduced inductor size. A 500 W prototype converter is built and tested to verify performance of the proposed converter.

In this paper, we designed a soft switched synchronous boost converter, which can perform discharging the battery, is simulated, and experimented designed. The converter operates synchronous operation to increase efficiency of the converter. The converter has very small switching losses because of its soft switching characteristics. In this paper, battery discharger with a switching frequency of 100 kHz have been designed. The designed converter also simulated and experimented to prove the converter's characteristics during synchronous operation. The simulated and experimental results have confirmed that the battery discharger had soft switching characteristics. In addition, the experimental results confirm that the converter has high efficiency characteristics. The efficiency of the circuit exceeds 97%, the efficiency of soft switched synchronous boost converter is at least 6% higher than that of conventional PWM boost converter.
This paper offers two Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) systems for Photovoltaic (PV) applications. The first MPPT method is based on a fixed frequency Model Predictive Control (MPC). The second MPPT technique is based on the Predictive Hysteresis Control (PHC). An experimental demonstration shows that the proposed techniques are fast, accurate and robust in tracking the maximum power under different environmental conditions. A DC/DC converter with a high voltage gain is obligatory to track PV applications at the maximum power and to boost a low voltage to a higher voltage level. For this purpose, a high gain Switched Inductor Quadratic Boost Converter (SIQBC) for PV applications is presented in this paper. The proposed converter has a higher gain than the other transformerless topologies in the literature. It is shown that at a high gain the proposed SIQBC has moderate efficiency.
A single-stage high-power-factor electron ic ballast operating in critical conduction mode is presented in this paper. The proposed topology is based on integration of a boost-like converter and a LCC Type half-bridge serial resonant inverter. The power-factor-correction(PFC) stage is a boost-like converter operating in critical conduction mode for positive and negative half cycle voltage respectively at line frequency (60Hz) so that a high power factor is achieved naturally. The simulated and experimental results for 100w fluorescent lamps operating at 42kHz switching frequency and 220V line voltage have been obtained.
For low-power high-frequency LED driver applications in small form factor mobile products, a high-efficiency boundary conduction mode tapped-inductor boost converter is proposed. In the proposed converter, the switch and the diode achieve soft-switching, the diode reverse-recovery is alleviated, and the switching frequency is very insensitive to output voltage variations. The circuit is quantitatively characterized, and the design guidelines are presented. Experimental results from an LED backlight driver prototype for a 14 inch notebook computer are also presented.
