Damaged wind turbine blades are repaired conventionally using a hand lay-up method with epoxy, where the bonding strength is not high. Epoxy has poor curing characteristics at low temperatures. The infusion method with polyester was proposed. Infusion method is believed to distribute resin uniformly. Polyester is used because it hardens better than epoxy at low temperatures. At room temperature, the proposed method increased the bonding strength by 77.7% compared to the conventional method. Using the proposed method at 15 and $5^{\circ}C$, the bonding strength increased compared to the conventional method. This paper proposes a new method for repairing wind turbine blades, even at temperatures where the conventional method cannot be used because epoxy resin does not harden. The bonding strength of the proposed method at low temperatures is higher than that of the conventional method at room temperature.
In this work, the cure kinetics and rheological properties of difunctional epoxy(diglycidylether of bisphenol A, DGEBA)/polysulfone (PSF) blends were investigated using differential scanning calorimeter and rheometer. From the DSC results of the blends, the temperature of the exothermic peak and cure activation energy (E) using a half-width method were increased with increasing the PSF content to neat epoxy resin up to 30 wt%. However, a marginal decrease in the blend system was shown in E. The conversion ($\alpha$) and conversion rate (d$\alpha$/dt) were decreased as the content of PSF increases. Rheological properties of the blend system were investigated under isothermal condition using a rheometer. Cross-linking activation energy (E$_{c}$) was determined from the Arrhenius equation based on gel time and curing temperature. As a result, the E$_{c}$ showed a similar behavior with E which could be resulted from high viscosity of PSF and the phase separation between DGEBA and PSF.PSF.f PSF and the phase separation between DGEBA and PSF.PSF.
Food waste has been recognized as a critical problem in Korea and many research was conducted to efficiently reutilize or treat food waste. Main purpose of this research was to evaluate a feasibility for producing fermented organic fertilizer with mixture of earthworm cast (EC). Four different treatments were mixed with food waste and EC at the rate of 0, 10, 20, and 30%, respectively. Total days of composting experiment were 84 days and each sub samples were collected at every 7 days from starting of composting. Results showed that inner temperature in composting was increased to $70{\pm}4^{\circ}C$ within 5~10 days depending on mixing ratio of EC. Among different treatment, the highest increase of inner temperature was observed in treatment mixed with food waste and EC 30%. After finishing composting experiment, maturity was evaluated with solvita and germination test. Maturity index (MI) of each treatment was ranged between 5~7 indicating that manufactured fertilizer was curing or finished stage. Calculated germination index (GI) was at the range of 104~116 depending on mixing ratio of EC. Both MI and GI showed that manufactured fertilizer was suitable for fertilizer criteria while control (FW only) was not adequate for composting. Overall, earthworm cast can be utilized for improving compost maturity by mixing with food waste and more research should be conducted to make high quality of food waste compost with earthworm cast in agricultural fields.

Since the crack self-healing materials are activated according to the exposure environmental conditions from the time of crack occurrence, it is very important to clarify the relationship between the healing performance and the exposure environmental conditions of the crack surface. In this paper, the influence of the exposure environmental conditions on the crack healing performance of self-healing repair mortar was investigated through the water permeability test. The influence of temperature and humidity on the crack width of cracked specimens was evaluated. As a result of measuring the change of the crack width, the effect of curing temperature was negligible but it was confirmed that crack-closing occurred due to the change of dry-wet condition. The healing materials produced on the crack surface of the specimens was identified as calcite minerals. Since the minerals with high density are precipitated under the influence of gravity, the healing performance is somewhat different according to the direction of the crack surface, and the healing performance was significantly improved in the wet exposure condition than the air exposure condition.

Waterproof layers are installed in civil engineering structures and bridge construction is commonly finished by applying a layer of regular or asphalt concrete above the waterproof layer. However, asphalt materials are susceptible to melting at high temperature due to its superior temperature sensitivity, and this causes the waterproofing material to melt due to the high temperature of the asphalt concrete, thereby increasing the defect occurrence rate due to the thickness reduction. In this study, tensile strength and elongation of hard and soft type of MMA(Methyl Methacrylate) applied to bridges were compared in accordance to standard performance criteria based on different mixture ratios. Results of comparative testing showed that hard MMA resin can display a satisfactory tensile strength, and soft MMA resin displays satisfactory elongation properties, but as the two resin types are separately used, neither types are able to satisfy the standard requirements outlined in KS F 4932. When the amount of the powder exceeds 56.25% of the total amount, voids are generated on the surface after curing and self leveling was impossible and a heterogeneous surface is formed. Furthermore, when the hard resin: soft resin: powder mixture ratio was set to 15g: 85g: 150g. the tensile strength was $1.5N/mm^2$ and the elongation percentage was 133% which satisfy the tensile performance of KS F 4932.
In the present study, in order to clarify the effects of latent hydraulic property of granulated blast furnace slag (GBF slag) on the liquefaction, GBF slag was cured in the high temperature alkali water (adding the calcium hydroxide, pH=12, water temperature is about $30^{\circ}C$), and then the cyclic and the static tri-axial compression tests were carried out. Then the results were compared with those for Japanese standard sand of Toyoura sand and natural sand of Genkai sand. From the test results, it is clarified that the liquefaction strength of the GBF slag increases with the increase of the curing period by the hardening due to the latent hydraulic property. It is also shown that GBF slag with Dr=50% and 80% which was cured for 189 days in the fresh-water shows cohesion due to developing of latent hydraulic property. In addition, as for the liquefaction strength of GBFS during the hardening process, a linear relation between the cyclic stress ratio $R_{20}$ at the number of stress cycles Nc=20 and cohesion $C_{d}$ was observed. It is also clarified that the liquefaction strength for cured GBF slag in the high temperature alkali water is predicted by the cohesive strength or the unconfined compressive strength.

The objective of this study is to investigate an effect of curing temperature on autogenous shrinkage of high strength cement mortar with 0.15 of W/B incorporating fly ash and silica fume in terms of equivalent age. The contents of fly ash and silica fume are varied from 10% to 30%. Non linear regression model applying equivalent age was used to estimate the autogenous shrinkage evolution. To obtain apparent activation energy($E_a$), setting time method by Pinto and existing method were calculated and compared respectively. Test results showed that use of silica fume increased autogenous shrinkage while use of fly ash decreased it. It was also found that poor agreements were obtained when $E_a$ by setting time was applied. But, application of existing $E_a$ resulted in a good agreement between calculated autogenous shrinkage and measured one.

The advent of photonic technologies in the field of communications and data transmission has been heavily increasing the demand in integrated optical (IO) circuits capable of accomplishing not only simple tasks like signal, but also more sophisticated functions like all-optical signal routing or active multiplexing/demultiplexing. In the last decade, sol-gel technology has been widely used to prepare optical materials. Sol-gel processes show many promises for the development of low-loss, high-performance glass integrated optical circuits. However, crack formation is likely to occur during heat treatment in thick gel films. In order to overcome the critical thickness limitation, the organic-modified silicate has been widely used. In this case coating matrices have been prepared from the organo-silanes of T structures, acidic catalyst and the as-prepared gel films have been heat-treated below 200$^{\circ}C$ to avoid the crack formation and the degradation of organic components. However, the films prepared in the acidic condition and the low heat temperature make the films contain high OH groups which is the major optical loss function. In this work, C$\sub$6/H$\sub$5/SiO$\sub$1.5/ films were prepared on silicon substrate by sol-gel method using base catalyst in a PTMS/NH$_4$OH/H$_2$O/C$_2$H$\sub$5/OH system. The sol showed spinable viscosity at 50 wt% of solid content, and neglectable viscosity change with time. The films were crack-free and transparent after curing at 450 $^{\circ}C$, and highly condensed to minimize OH content in C$\sub$6/H$\sub$5/SiO$\sub$1.5/ networks. The effects of heat treatment of the films are characterized on the critical thickness, the chemical composition and the refractive indices by means of SEM, FT-IR, TGA, prism coupler, respectively.

The compressive strength of a paste composed of a low-calcium Class F fly ash and alkaline activator solutions was investigated. These activator solutions, made with sodium hydroxide, water glass and water, have a very high $OH^-$ concentration. The composition of alkaline activator solution and temperature have been shown to notably influence the development of the compressive strength of the fly ash-cements paste. Compressive strength of 50 MPa could be achieved by curing of the fly ash at $60^{\circ}C$ for 48 hrs or $85^{\circ}C$ for 24 hrs. This study presented the optimum mixing ratio of Class F fly ash/sodium hydroxide/water glass as 25:8:2 in weight basis, and activator/fly ash as 0.6/1.0 for high strength paste.
The effects of catalyst, accelerator and blend composition on the cure behavior of unsaturated polyester resin (UPE), vinyl ester resin (VE) and their blends were studied using differential scanning calorimetry(DSC). The DSC thermograms strongly depend on each variable. The result shows that the small exothermic peak at 115$^{\circ}C$ is due mainly to the UPE component in the UPE/VE blends and the large one at 134~138 $^{\circ}C$ is due mainly to the VE component. The results also indicate that the change of the DSC thermogram measured after each blend was exposed to high temperature 18$0^{\circ}C$ and the fast curing conditions of a few tens seconds provide useful information on understanding the thermal processing of a blend at high speed. The measurements of resin flow time represent that there are three distinct stages of cure in the UPE/VE blends: induction, transition and macro-gelation stages, as similarly reported for UPE by others earlier. The thermal stability and flexural properties of the cured UPE are significantly improved by blending it with the VE, depending on the composition.
