A Middleware System for Efficient Acquisition and Management of Heterogeneous Geosensor Networks Data (이질적인 지오센서 네트워크 데이터의 효율적인 수집 및 관리를 위한 미들웨어 시스템)

  • Recently, there has been much interest in the middleware that can smoothly acquire and analyze Geosensor information which includes sensor readings, location, and its surrounding spatial information. In relation to development of the middleware, researchers have proposed various algorithms for energy-efficient information filtering in Geosensor networks and have proposed Geosensor web technologies which can efficiently mash up sensor readings with spatial information on the web, also. The filtering algorithms and Geosensor Web technologies have contributions on energy-efficiency and OpenAPI, however the algorithms and technologies could not support easy and rapid development of u-GIS applications that need various Geosensor networks. Therefore, we propose a new Geosensor network middleware that can dramatically reduce the time and cost required for development of u-GIS applications that integrate heterogeneous Geosensor networks. The proposed middleware has several merits of being capable of acquiring heterogeneous Geosensor information using the standard SWE and an extended SQL, optimally performing various attribute and spatial operators, and easily integrating various Geosensor networks. Finally, we clarify our middleware's distinguished features by developing a prototype that can monitor environmental information in realtime using spatial information and various sensor readings of temperature, humidity, illumination, imagery, and location.

  • XML and Web Services draw a lot of attention as standard technologies for data exchange and integration among heterogeneous platforms XML/A, which supports such technologies, is a SOAP based XML APl that facilitates data exchange between a client application and a data analysis engine through the Internet. The fact that the XML format is used for data exchange makes XML/A to be platform-independent. However. client application developers have to go through a tedious Job of treating the same type of XML documents fur downloading data from the server. Also, an XML query language is needed for extracting data from the XML documents sent by the server. In this paper, we present a high level client OLAP API, called DXML, for the client application developers in the windows environment to easily use the OLAP services of XML/A. XMLMD consists of properties and methods needed for OLAP application development. XMLMD is to XML/A what ADOMD is to OLEDB for OLAP. We also present a web OLAP cube browser that is developed using XMLMD. The browser display's data in various formats such as XML, HTML, Excel, and graph.

Implementation of an open API-based virtual network provisioning automation platform for large-scale data transfer (대용량 데이터 전송을 위한 오픈 API 기반 가상 네트워크 프로비저닝 자동화 플랫폼 구현)

  • Currently, advanced national research network groups are continuously conducting R&D for the requirement to provide SDN/NFV-based network automation and intelligence technology for R&E users. In addition, the requirement for providing large-scale data transmission with the high performance networking facility, compared to general network environments, is gradually increasing in the advanced national research networks. Accordingly, in this paper, we propose an open API-based virtual network provisioning automation platform for large data transmission researched and developed to respond to the networking requirements of the national research network and present the implementation results. The platform includes the KREONET-S VDN system that provides SDN-based network virtualization technology, and the Kubernetes system that provides container-oriented server virtualization technology, and the Globus Online, a high-performance data transmission system. In this paper, the environment configurations, the system implemetation results for the interworking between the heterogeneous systems, and the automated virtual network provisioning implementation results are presented.

NAAL: Software for controlling heterogeneous IoT devices based on neuromorphic architecture abstraction (NAAL: 뉴로모픽 아키텍처 추상화 기반 이기종 IoT 기기 제어용 소프트웨어)

  • Neuromorphic computing generally shows significantly better power, area, and speed performance than neural network computation using CPU and GPU. These characteristics are suitable for resource-constrained IoT environments where energy consumption is important. However, there is a problem in that it is necessary to modify the source code for environment setting and application operation according to heterogeneous IoT devices that support neuromorphic computing. To solve these problems, NAAL was proposed and implemented in this paper. NAAL provides functions necessary for IoT device control and neuromorphic architecture abstraction and inference model operation in various heterogeneous IoT device environments based on common APIs of NAAL. NAAL has the advantage of enabling additional support for new heterogeneous IoT devices and neuromorphic architectures and computing devices in the future.

Isolation and Characterization of Cryptococcus neoformans from Environmental Sources in Busan

  • Twenty nine samples of pigeon droppings (n = 12) and soil contaminated with avian excreta (n = 19), collected from different sites in Busan, were examined for isolation and characterization of Cryptococcus neoformans. Of these samples, 5 strains of C. neoformans were recovered from pigeon droppings (5/12 : 41.7%). All isolates were belonged to C. neoformans var. grubii (serotype A). The extracellular enzyme activities of the strains by using the API-ZYM system showed two different enzymatic patterns. The genetic variability among C. neoformans isolates was analyzed by random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) using three 10-mer primers. Two different RAPD patterns, which clearly distinguished the isolates, were identified. Analysis of RAPD patterns provided a good characterization of environmental strains of C. neoformans serotype A as a heterogeneous group and were in good agreement with enzymatic profiles.

Phenotypic Diversity of Vibrio ichthyoenteri Isolated from the Gastrointestinal Tract of Larval Olive Flounder Paralichthys olivaceus

  • Vibrio ichthyoenteri is a facultatively anaerobic gram-negative bacterium with straight or slightly curved rod morphology. The bacterium is an etiological agent of bacterial enteritis of Olive flounder Paralichthys olivaceus. Only a handful of studies, using a limited number of isolates, have investigated the phenotypic and genetic characteristics of V. ichthyoenteri. We isolated 40 V. ichthyoenteri strains, identified based on the 16S rRNA gene sequence, from the diseased flounder larvae and investigated the API 20E and ZYM profiles. The isolates exhibited highly divergent phenotypic characteristics regardless of sampling time point and location, and fish age. Essential enzymes produced by V. ichthyoenteri seemed to be alkaline phosphatase, leucine arylamidase, and N-acetyl-${\beta}$-glucosaminidase. This study reveals a much greater enzymatic and biochemical phenotype diversity than has been evident to date. These results suggest that a given population of V. ichthyoenteri could be heterogeneous in terms of its phenotypic characteristics.

  • JXTA는 중앙 서버를 통한 관리가 필요 없고, 네트워크에 연결되어 있다면 어떤 장치든 다른 장치들과의 통신이 가능하며, 이 기종 P2P시스템이나 커뮤니티들과의 통신이 가능하다는 것 등의 많은 장점을 가지고 있다. 이러한 장점을 최대한 활용하면서 서로 상이한 protocol과 API의 사용으로 인해 상호 운용성 실현이 쉽지 않은 이 기종 P2P 시스템간의 상호 연동을 가능하도록 하기 위해, 본 논문에서는 JXTA를 이용한 InterDinstantP2P라는 시스템을 제안하고, 이의 중요한 두 가지 구성요소로서 XML Converter와 Network JDiner의 구조를 설명한다.

  • 오늘날 JXTA 프로젝트는 중앙 서버를 통한 관리가 필요 없고, 네트워크에 연결되었다면 모든 장치에서 다른 장치들과의 통신이 가능하며 타 P2P 시스템이나 커뮤니티와의 통신이 가능한 등의 장점을 가지고 있다. 이 세 가지 장점 중 서로 상이한 프로토콜과 API의 사용으로 인해 구현이 쉽지 않은 타 P2P시스템과의 상호운용성를 현실화시킬 수 있는 방법을 JXTA의 CMS를 통해 구현해보고 비러한 브릿지 시스템의 특징을 살펴본다.

Design and Implementation of National Supercomputing Service Framework (국가 슈퍼컴퓨팅 서비스 프레임워크의 설계 및 구현)

  • Traditional supercomputing services suffer from limited accessibility and low utilization in that users(researchers) may perform computational executions only using terminal-based command line interfaces. To address this problem, in this paper, we provide the design and implementation details of National supercomputing service framework. The proposed framework supports all the fundamental primitive functions such as user management/authentication, heterogeneous computing resource management, HPC (High Performance Computing) job management, etc. so that it enables various 3rd-party applications to be newly built on top of the proposed framework. Our framework also provides Web-based RESTful OpenAPIs and the abstraction interfaces of job schedulers (as well as bundle scheduler plug-ins, for example, LoadLeveler, Open Grid Scheduler, TORQUE) in order to easily integrate the broad spectrum of heterogeneous computing clusters. To show and validate the effectiveness of the proposed framework, we describe the best practice scenario of high energy physics Lattice-QCD as an example application.

  • Recently as the user request on NoD (News-on-Demand) is largely increasing, there are a lot of researches to fulfill it. However, because of short life-cycle of new video data and periodical change of video data depending on anchor, it is difficult to apply the conventional video storage techniques to NOD applications directly. For this, we design and implement low-level storage manager for efficient storage and retrieval of multimedia data in NOD Services. Our low-level storage manager not only efficiently sotres video stream dat of new video itself, but also handles its index information. It provides an inverted file method for efficient text-based retrieval and an X-tree index structure for high-dimensional feature vectors. In addition, our low-level storage manager provides some application program interfaces (APIs) for storing video objects itself and index information extracted from hierarchial new video and some APIs for retrieving video objects easily by using cursors. Finally, we implement our low-level storage manager based on SHORE (Scalable Heterogeneous Object REpository) storage system by sunig a standard C++ language under UNIX operating system.
