This study was conducted to develop a novel salad dressing composite recipe composed of natural seasoning containing dried oak mushroom (Lentirus edodes). Dried oak mushroom (Lentirus edodes) has a better flavor and more nutrients than fresh oak mushroom since vitamins are activated during the drying process. To manufacture salad dressing with Lentirus edodes, dressing with 0%, 3%, 6%, 9%, and 12% added L. edodes were prepared and tested for quality. The pH of the dressing decreased with added L. edodes content, whereas acidity increased but decreased again in the 9% dressing. The L value decreased with added L. edodes content, whereas the a and b values increased but decreased again in the 9% dressing. Sugar content increased with added L. edodes. Rradish strength increased with added oak mushroom. Brittleness and chewiness decreased in the lower percentage dressing, increased in the 9% dressing, but decreased again in the 12% dressing. According to the sensory evaluation results, the highest overall acceptability was 3.3, in the 6% dressing compared to the control group.

Objective : This study investigated results of treatment of Atopic Dermatitis(AD) patients diagnosed as damp-heat type with herbal medicine and wet dreesing. Method : Six AD subjects diagnosed as damp-heat type were selected from the outpatient department of East-West Neo Medical Center in the period of Dec. 2006 to Feb. 2007. Each subject was treated with herbal medicine and wet dressing. Severity Scoring of Atopic Dermatitis(SCORAD) was used to evaluate the effect of treatment and pictures were taken of the Atopic dermatitis lesions. Result & Conclusion : We observed improvement on SCORAD score, especially intensity score of damp-heat type when they were treated with herbal medicine and wet dressing. However, it is less effective and AD often recurs in case of chronic adult-type AD. In addition, nipple eczema in some patients has showed a tendency to improve slowly and recur easily compared to other lesions.
Considering sensory characteristics Herbal mayonnaise, Herbal yoghurt and Herbal italia dressing with extracts of gugija(Lycium chinense) as additives, this study attempts to develop dressing that meets preference of people of Korea through sensory characteristics. The test results of moisture, pH, color, viscosity and sensory testing dressings with 10%, 15% and 20% extracts of gugija(Lycium chinense) as follow; Moisture contents increase in proportion to addition of the extracts of gugija(Lycium chinense). Sugar contents decrease in proportion to addition of the extracts of gugija(Lycium chinense). Also pH values of dressings increase with addition of gugija(Lycium chinense) extracts. Lower Hunter L values are observed from the dressings with the extracts of gugija(Lycium chinense) than control groups. Higher Hunter a values are observed from the dressing with gugija(Lycium chinense) extracts, whereas lower Hunter b values are observed from the dressings with gugija(Lycium chinense) extracts. The lower viscosity values are observed with addition of the extracts of gugija(Lycium chinense)s than control groups. For mayonnaise dressing, ML3 with 20% gugija(Lycium chinense) extract(MC1) mark highest overall preference. For yoghurt dressing, YL3 with 20% gugija(Lycium chinense) extract show highest overall preference. For Italian dressing, IL3 with 20% gugija(Lycium chinense) extract impart highest Overall preference. According to the results of this study, the dressings with the extracts of gugija(Lycium chinense) are preferred in color, flavor, taste and overall preference to control groups. This study might provide significant data for developing dressings with herbal medicine match with dishes to meet the needs for health of our contemporaries.

In this study, the quality characteristics of salad dressing prepared with mulberry, Schisandra chinensis, and Discorea powder were evaluated. Salad dressing was prepared with salad base (plain yogurt : mayonnaise : fresh cream = 8:1:1), mulberry, Schisandra chinensis for acidity, and Discorea powder for viscosity (4:4:6:1 or 4:4:6:3). Discorea powder was added at levels of 0, 7, and 18% to the salad dressing. As the concentration of Discorea powder increased, the pH level increased, and acidity decreased. Hunter's color L (lightness) value of salad dressing decreased as the amount of Discorea powder increased. Viscosity increased according to the amount of Discorea powder. Moreover, total phenolic content increased according to the amount of Discorea powder. Further, DPPH antioxidant and hydroxyl radical activity of mulberry salad dressing increased as the amount of Discorea powder increased. Sensory preference test results showed that the salad dressing added with Discorea powder had higher scores for color, flavor, taste, and texture than the control. Regarding overall preference, salad dressing containing 7% Discorea powder had the highest scores among the treatments. From these results, salad dressing containing mulberry, Schisandra chinensis for acidity, and Discorea powder for viscosity could be a functional salad dressing with high antioxidant activity.
To manufacture salad dressing with ginger, dressing with 0%, 3%, 6%, 9%, and 12% ginger added were prepared and tested for quality. The salad dressing products were evaluated for pH, acidity, chromaticity, salinity, sugar content, sensory test during storage up to 21 days at $4^{\circ}C$. The pH of the dressing increased with ginger added, whereas the acidity decreased(p<0.001). The L, a and b values increased during the storage period(p<0.01). Brix measurements decreased with ginger added, whereas the salinity increased. Also, the salinity of the dressing increased during the storage period(p<0.01). According to the sensory test results, dressing products with 9% and 12% ginger added were most preferred for the early storage days; however, the sensory test showed that the dressing with 6% ginger added was most preferred for seven test items according to storage period, indicating that the salad dressing added with 6% ginger was acceptable.

Many patients are suffering from pruritus. A new standard treatment system is needed. Objective : This study investigated the effect of Oriental medicine program for atopic dermatitis patients during short term hospitalization. Method : 6 patients were admitted for short term hospitalization program. The program includes Acupuncture, herbal medicine, examination, education, cupping therapy, herbal dressing, exercise and etc. Everyday we evaluated the patients by Severity Scoring Atopic Dermatitis(SCORAD) index and took the photos of lesions, and the patients evaluated themselves by atopic dermatitis diary which consists of emotion, pruritus, sleep loss. Results : Admission duration was 7 to 14 days. The SCORAD scores of them were decreased. Most symptoms of 6 patients were improved. Especially herbal dressing was effective for severe oozing. Subjective scores of atopic dermatitis diary were reduced. Conclusion : We expect that the short term hospitalization program could be helpful for uncontrollable atopic dermatitis patients.
This study was conducted to develop a novel salad dressing composite recipe of natural seasoning containing the dried sea tangle($Laminaria$$japonica$) that has a high preference. Sea tangle($Laminaria$$japonica$) is included in the vitamins and minerals, magnesium, calcium, iodine, iron content, such as high, and contained in Sea tangle alginate is not a small conference known as dietary fiber. To manufacture salad dressing with sea tangle, dressing with 0%, 3%, 6%, 9%, and 12% added sea tangle were prepared and tested for quality. The pH tended to increase with the increased sea tangle in addition but in contrast, acidity showed. The 'L' color decreased with added sea tangle, whereas the 'a' and 'b' values increased. Brix measurements increase with added sea tangle. The strength texture results, 0% was the highest, lowest 9%. Bitterness and chewiness texture results, 9% was the highest, lowest 0%. According to the sensory test results, in the topic overall quality 3% was by 3.76 point the highest. But, during total nine clause, in clause six, by 6% was the highest.
Objectives The present study aimed to investigate the effects of acupuncture and herbal external preparation on wound healing procedure in a deep partial thickness burn model in rats. Methods A total of 40 male Sprague-Dawley rats were allocated into four groups with an equal number in each group: acupuncture treatment group, herbal external perparation group, Silver sulfadiazine dressing group and control group. We describe the effect of acupuncture and herbal external preparation on morphologic and histologic changes, epithelial growth factor (EGF), hematological value of the deep partial thickness burn wound in rats. Results At 21th day after wounding the wound size in acupuncture treat group and herbal external preparation group were decreased more significantly compared to control group. In addition, epidermal regeneration on acupuncture treatment was than other treatment and control group in histological finding. Hematological findings revealed that acupuncture treatment group and herbal external prepartion group was more effective than control group in reducing inflammation response induced by burn. In acupuncture treated group, neutrophil and leukocyte level were significantly decreased compared to other treatment group. Also, this study showed that EGF was obviously expressed in nascent tissue when wounds were treated with the acupuncture and herbal external preparation after injury. In particular, acupuncture treatment group had a significant increase of EGF expression in burn wound healing area when compared with the other treatment groups. Conclusions These findings suggest that acupuncture and herbal external prepration may improve burn wound healing through decreasing inflammatory reaction, increasing tissue regeneration and expression of EGF. Moreover, acupuncture treatment could be more effective in comparison with Silver sulfadiazine dressing.
