Research on Performance of Large Rotor-type Heat Recovery Exchanger using CFD Analysis on Surface Corrugation (요철형상의 CFD 해석을 통한 대용량 로타형 폐열회수열교환기 성능에 관한 연구)

  • The field of the large volume heat exchanger for wasted heat recovery ventilation system is being expanded enormously seeing as the fact that the quantity of reducing energies are huge due to the large volume heat exchanger for wasted heat recovery system at large buildings and factories, which consume large amount of energies while it has been arising huge amount of losses in Korea because of the lack of technology. To develop large volume waste heat recovery heat exchanger, rotor type heat exchanger was simulated for the surface corrugation. Based on the simulation results produced $30,000m^3/h$ grade waste heat recovery, heat exchanger was performed for the actual experiment. In addition, performance tests exceed the capacity of a large waste heat recovery heat exchanger performance test methods proposed.

Glass Transition Temperature of Honey Using Modulated Differential Scanning Calorimetry (MDSC): Effect of Moisture Content

  • Glass transition phenomena in nine Korean pure honeys (moisture content 18.3~20.1%) and honey-water mixtures by different water contents (0, 2, 5, and 10% w/w) were investigated with modulated different scanning calorimetry (MDSC). The total, reversing, and non-reversing heat flows were quantified during heating using MDSC. Glass transition was observed from reversing heat flow separated from the total heat flow. The glass transition temperatures ($T_g$) of pure honeys, which are in the range of $-42.7^{\circ}C$ to $-50.0^{\circ}C$, varied a lot with low determination coefficient ($R^2$=0.63), whereas those of honey-water mixtures decreased with a decrease in honey content. The $T_g$ values were also more significantly different among honey-water mixtures when compared to pure honeys, indicating that in the honey-water mixture system the $T_g$ values appear to be greatly dependent on moisture content. The measured heat capacity change (${\Delta}C_p$) was not influenced by moisture content.

Combustion Characteristic of Anode Off Gas for Fuel Cell Reformer (개질기용 Anode Off Gas의 연소특성에 관한 연구)

  • The reformer system is a chemical device that drives the conversion of hydrocarbon to hydrogen rich gas under high temperature environment($600-1,000^{\circ}C$). Generally, NG(Natural Gas) or AOG(Anode Off Gas) is used as fuel of fuel cell reformer combustion system. The experimental study to analyze the combustion characteristics of a premixed ceramic burner used for 0.5-1.0 kW fuel cell reformer was performed. Ceramic burner experiments using NG and AOG were carried out to investigate the flame stability characteristics by heating capacity, equivalence ratio and different fuels respectively. The results show that surface flames can be classified into green, red, blue and lift-off flames as the equivalence ratio of methane-air mixture decreases. And the stable flames can be established using NG and AOG as reformer fuel in the perforated ceramic burner. In particular, the blue flame is found to be stable at a lean equivalence ratio under different mixture conditions of NG and AOG for the 0.5 to 1.0 kW fuel cell system power range. NOx emission is under 60 ppm between 0.70 to 0.78 of equivalence ratio and CO emission is under 50 ppm between 0.70 to 0.84 of equivalence ratio.

  • Effect of dry-heat treatment $(130{\sim}220^{\circ}C)$ on properties of corn starch was investigated. No significant changes of surface color and swelling power were observed. Blue value, water-binding capacity, solubility and degree of hydrolysis by acid or glucoamylase were increased; however, intrinsic viscosity and crystallinity were decreased as heating temperature was raised. Noticeable changes occurred between $170{\sim}190^{\circ}C$.

  • This paper presents the results of an investigation into the thermo-hydromechanical response of weathered granite soil. The effect of forced change temperature and relative humidity at the soil layer boundaries were monitored during heating. A series of load settlement test were performed on layers of compacted, unsatureated weathered granite soil with geosynthetic embedded at mid height before and after application of heat exchanger to the base of the soil layers. The results from this study indicated the potential for using embedded heat exchangers for the mechanical improvement of geotechnical systems incorporating weathered granite soil.

Synthesis and Electrochemical Properties of Li[Ni1/3Co1/3Mn1/3]O2 Nanowire by the Electrospinning Method (전기방사법을 이용한 Li[Ni1/3Co1/3Mn1/3]O2 나노 섬유의 합성 및 전기화학적 특성)

  • Nano-fibers of the $Li[Ni_{1/3}Co_{1/3}Mn_{1/3}]O_2$ electrode were synthesized from a metal oxide precursor using the electrospun method. The XRD patterns of all prepared powders showed a hexagonal ${\alpha}$ - $NaFeO_2$ structure (space group: R-3 m, 166). Scanning electron microscopy showed that all the synthesized samples were comprised of nanofibers with a size of 100~800 nm. Among the samples tested, the calcined $Li[Ni_{1/3}Co_{1/3}Mn_{1/3}]O_2$ nanowires in oxygen heating atmosphere showed a high charge and discharge capacity of 239.22 and 172.81 $mAhg^{-1}$ at the $1^{st}$ cycle, respectively. In addition, the charge transfer resistance was also improved significantly compared to the other samples.

  • The myofibril prepared from PSE (pale, soft, exudative) porcine meat was modified by reacting with succinic anhydride and the chemical and functional properties of modified myofibrils were investigated. $No\;Ca^{2+}-and\;Mg^{2+}-ATPase$ activity were observed irrespective of the degree of succinylation. Isoelectric point of the succinylated myofibril changed to around pH 3 from the pH 5 of unmodified myofibril. Salt soluble property was not affected by changing the salt concentration. The modified myofibril in aqueous solution did not coagulate during heating at $98^{\circ}C$ for 10 min. Water absorption ability was not improved but emulsion capacity was improved a little by succinylation.

  • This paper studies development of a solar thermosyphon hot water system which is suitable to korean climate and life style, to save energy consumed for domestic water heating. The system consists of two flat plate collectors(or three flat plate collectors) connected in parallel and a storage tank of 300 liter capacity with heat exchanger and the optimum system was designed through the comparative measurements of five different storage tanks. The developed system manufactured with domestic materials were installed in residential buildings in seven cities(Seoul, Pusan, Taegu, Kwangju, Taejeon, Kangneung, Cheju) for demonstration and field test and results show possibility for commercialization.

  • Portable electronic devices secondary batteries can cause fire and explosion due to micro-current change in addition to the situation of short-circuit inrush current, safety can not be secured with a general operation limited current fuse. Therefore, in secondary battery, it is necessary for the protector to satisfy both the limit current type operation in the open-short-circuit inrush current and the current detection operation characteristic in the micro current change situation and for this operation, a fuse for the current detection type secondary battery protection circuit can be applied. The purpose of this study is to design a protection device that operates stably in the hazardous situation of small capacity secondary battery for portable electronic devices through the design of low melting fuse elements alloy of sensing type fuse and secures stability in abnormal current state. As a result of the experiment, I-T and V-T operation characteristics are satisfied in a the design of the alloy of the current sensing type self-contained low melting point fuse and the resistance of the heating resistor. It is confirmed that it can prevent accidents of short circuit over-current and micro current change of secondary battery.

  • In this paper, the aim is to develop plasma heater products combining the sterilization and purification functions of low-temperature plasma lamp method with the function of vertical heating system using wavelengths of vacuum magnetic (VU). Through this process, the government aims to improve the cultivation environment of crops in greenhouses or facility houses and to increase their storage capacity by increasing the freshness of stored crops such as free-temperature storage. In addition, real-time monitoring technologies will be incorporated that will enable users to identify and respond to changes within greenhouses in real time by utilizing ICT technologies.
