Inorganic pigments have high thermal stability and chemical resistance at high temperature. For these reasons, they are used in clay, paints, plastic, polymers, colored glass and ceramics. $CoAl_2O_4$ nano-powder was synthesized by reverse-micelle processing the mixed precursor(consisting of $Co(NO_3)_2$ and $Al(NO_3)_3$). The $CoAl_2O_4$ was prepared by mixing an aqueous solution at a Co:Al molar ratio of 1:2. The average particle size, and the particle-size distribution, of the powders synthesized by heat treatment (at 900; 1,000; 1,100; and $1,200^{\circ}C$ for 2h) were in the range of 10-20 nm and narrow, respectively. The average size of the synthesized nano-particles increased with increasing water-to-surfactant molar ratio. The synthesized $CoAl_2O_4$ powders were characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis(XRD), field-emission scanning electron microscopy(FE-SEM) and color spectrophotometry. The intensity of X-ray diffraction of the synthesized $CoAl_2O_4$ powder, increased with increasing heating temperature. As the heating temperature increased, crystal-size of the synthesized powder particles increased. As the R-value(water/surfactant) and heating temperature increased, the color of the inorganic pigments changed from dark blue-green to cerulean blue.

In this study, two different (NiCuZn)-ferrite which were fabricated by using ultra-fine powders synthesized by the wet processing and conventionally commercialized powder, were investigated and compared each other in terms of the low temperature sintering and electromagnetic properties. Composition of x and w in $(Ni_{0.4-x}Cu_xZn_{0.6})_{1+w}(Fe_2O_4)_{1-w}$ were controlled as 0.2 and 0.03, respectively. The sintering temperature were $900^{\circ}C$ for ultra-fine powders by way of initial heat treatment and $1150^{\circ}C$ for commercialized powders. The (NiCuZn)-ferrite by ultra-fine powders showed love. sintering temperature than that of commercialized powders by over $200^{\circ}C$, and excellent electromagnetic properties such as the quality factor which is a important factor in the multi-layered chip inductor. In addition, characteristics of B-H hysteresis, crystallinity, microstructure and powder morphology were analyzed by a vibrating sample method(VSM), x-ray diffractometer(XRD), transmission electron microscope (TEM) and scanning electron microscope(SEM).

The materials showing high structure dispersion with functional properties were developed on the quartz base and those were obtained by mechano-chemical reaction technology. Depending on the processing conditions and subsequent applications the materials produced by mechano-chemical reaction show concurrently magnetic, dielectric and electrical properties. The obtained magnetic-electrical powders classified by aggregate complex of their features as segnetomagnetics, containing a dielectric material as a carrying nucleus, particularly the quartz on that surface one or more layers of different compounds were synthesized having thickness up to 10~50 nm showing magnetic, electrical properties and others. The similarity of the structure of surface layers of quartz particles subjected to mechano-chemical processing and nano-structure cluspol (clusters in a polymer matrics) material was also confirmed by the fact that the characteristics of ferromagnetic quartz of insulating nano-composite powder were changed with time, after its preparing process was completed. The magnetic permeability of the sample was decreasing within first two months down by 15~20 %. Then, the magnetic characteristics were almost stabilized steadily and continuously. The observed changes were related with defective structure of the particles, elastic stress relief, and changes of electron density and magnetic moment in deformation zones. This process of stabilization of the investigated properties could be intensified by the thermal annealing heat treatment in short time period of the nano-composite quartz powders at the temperature ranges of 100~15$0^{\circ}C$.

In the case of a die-casting process, defects that are difficult to confirm by visual inspection, such as shrinkage bubbles, may occur due to an error in maintaining a vacuum state. Since these casting defects are discovered during post-processing operations such as heat treatment or finishing work, they cannot be taken in advance at the casting time, which can cause a large number of defects. In this study, we propose an approach that can predict the occurrence of casting defects by defect type using machine learning technology based on casting parameter data collected from equipment in the die casting process in real time. Die-casting parameter data can basically be collected through the casting equipment controller. In order to perform classification analysis for predicting defects by defect type, labeling of casting parameters must be performed. In this study, first, the defective data set is separated by performing the primary clustering based on the total defect rate obtained during the post-processing. Second, the secondary cluster analysis is performed using the defect rate by type for the separated defect data set, and the labeling task is performed by defect type using the cluster analysis result. Finally, a classification learning model is created by collecting the entire labeled data set, and a real-time monitoring system for defect prediction using LabView and Python was implemented. When a defect is predicted, notification is performed so that the operator can cope with it, such as displaying on the monitoring screen and alarm notification.
In this study, the age-hardening behavior and tensile properties of a cast AZ91-0.3Ca-0.2Y (SEN9) alloy are investigated and compared with those of a commercial AZ91 alloy. Even after homogenization heat treatment, the SEN9 alloy contains numerous undissolved secondary phases, Al8Mn4Y, Al2Y, and Al2Ca, which results in a higher hardness value than the homogenized AZ91 alloy. Under aging condition at 200 ℃, both the AZ91 and SEN9 alloys exhibit the same peak-aging time of 8 h, but the peak hardness of the latter (86.8 Hv) is higher than that of the former (83.9 Hv). The precipitation behavior of Mg17Al12 phase during aging significantly differs in the two alloys. In the AZ91 alloy, the area fraction of Mg17Al12 discontinuous precipitates (DPs) increases up to ~50% as the aging time increases. In contrast, in the SEN9 alloy, the formation and growth of DPs during aging are substantially suppressed by the Ca- or Y-containing particles, which leads to the formation of only a small amount of DPs with an area fraction of ~4% after peak aging. Moreover, the size and interparticle spacing of Mg17Al12 precipitates of the peak-aged SEN9 alloy are smaller than those of the peak-aged AZ91 alloy. The homogenized AZ91 alloy exhibits a higher tensile strength than the homogenized SEN9 alloy due to the finer grains of the former. However, the peak-aged SEN9 alloy has a higher tensile elongation than the peak-aged AZ91 alloy due to the smaller amount of brittle DPs in the former.

The use of Zn-Al-Mg alloy coatings for enhancing the corrosion resistance of steel sheets is gaining prominence over traditional Zn coatings. There is a growing demand for the development of thermal spray wires made from Zn-Al-Mg alloys, as a replacement for the existing wires produced using Al and Zn. This is particularly crucial to secure corrosion resistance and durability in the damaged areas of coated steel sheets caused by deformation and welding. This study focuses on the casting and extrusion processes of Zn-2Al-1Mg alloy for the fabrication of such spray wires and analyzes the changes in microstructure during the extrusion process. The Zn-2Al-1Mg alloy, cast in molds, was subjected to a heat treatment at 250 ℃ for 3 hours prior to extrusion. The extrusion process was carried out by heating both the material and the mold up to 300 ℃. Microstructural analysis was conducted using FE-SEM and EDS to differentiate each phase. The mechanical properties of the cast specimen were evaluated through compression tests at temperatures ranging from 200 to 300 ℃, with strain rates of 0.1 to 5 sec-1. Vickers hardness testing was utilized to assess the inhomogeneity of mechanical properties in the radial direction of the extruded material. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) was employed to understand the inhomogeneity in stress and strain distribution during extrusion, which aids in understanding the impact of heterogeneous deformation on the microstructure during the process.
This study was performed to investigate aflatoxin reduction resulting from the pre-treatment and the cooking and processing of corn. Aflatoxin was produced by Aspergillus parasiticus ATCC 15517 on a type of corn imported from the United States. The aflatoxin-produced com (AC) was pre-treated in three ways in order to reduce aflatoxin: exposure to sun light for 7 days (SC); ultraviolet irradiation for 56 hours (UC); and washing with water three times (WC). Four kinds of cooking and processing methods (boiling, steaming, baking, and popping) were used to reduce aflatoxin in the AC control, SC, UC, and WC. These treatments produced com gruel, com cakes, com bread and popcorn. The aflatoxin content in the samples was determined by high performance liquid chromatography. The total aflatoxin level of the AC was significantly decreased by sun light and UV (p<0.05), and decreased by washing. After cooking and processing the AC, SC, UC, and WC, and averaging the total aflatoxin levels in the final products, the greatest reduction was found in the com gruel, then the popcorn, then the corn cakes, and the least reduction in the com bread. These results indicate that sunlight and ultraviolet energy could be effective factors in aflatokin degradation in corn before cooking and processing. This study also indicates that boiling, steaming, baking and popping were helpful in reducing the aflatoxin level in the com and that the most helpful factors were exposure time to heat. More research is needed to reduce the aflatoxin level down to below the maximum tolerable level of aflatoxin in foods.
In present paper, we investigated the changes in lipid components of skipjack and Alaska pollack meat by thermal processing at high temperature. TBA values and peroxide values of both fish meats decreased markedly by heat treatment; decreasing range of TBA and peroxide values in skipjack meat was larger than those of Alaska pollack meat. Also carbonyl value of skipjack meat was decreased by thermal processing, contrary, that of Alaska pollack meat was increased. Total lipid(TL) of skipjack and Alaska pollack meat consisted of $61.9\%,\;49.6\%$ non-polar lipid(NL), $38.1\%,\;50.4\%$ polar lipid(PL), respectively. When the samples were heated at the Fo values of 5 or higher, contents of NL were increased, while that of PL were decreased. In fatty acid composition of NL and PL in both fishes, NL revealed higher contents in saturates and monoenes such as 16:0, 18:1, while PL showed higher contents in polyenes such as 20:5, 22:6; percentages of polyenes such as 22:6 especially in both fishes decreased with increasing of Fo values. The remaining ratio of PUFA(20:5+22:6/16:0) of Fo 20 samples in skipjack and Alaska pollack meat were $73\%$ and $65\%$, respectively. However, when the samples were heated at $98^{\circ}C$ for 30 minutes, no appreciable changes occured in fatty acid composition of TL, NL and PL in both fish meats examined.
In the course of examining the micro structure of Iron chisel and Iron arrowhead, a relics of the 16th or 17th of Chosun Dynasty unearthed at near Gangsun-tower, Chengpyeong temple. Collected un-eroded samples from the relics were looked into the metallic structure through optical metallography. Non-metallic inclusions were-analysed by SEM and EDS. The micro structure examination and SEM-SDS analysis revealed that Iron chisel and Iron arrowhead had been produced from the sponge iron close to pure iron made by low temperature reducing in a solid and then the surface carbon content was increased by carburizing treatment. It was also found that Iron chisel had been hardened through the repetitive processes of quench hardening and heat treatment, after increasing carbon content to a certain level. Up to now, there have been a number of studies in the domestic academia which were studied mainly on the structure of metallic relics in the period of the Three Kingdoms or before. Although this research was limited in type and number of the relics, it turned out to be interesting in that it revealed the 16th or 17th century way of processing iron, even in fragments. It is thought to be fruitful that iron had been made even in the Chosun Dynasty from the sponge iron.
